5.18.25 I know I have updated my review in the past 2 years but I don't see it anywhere. So let's do this. First, they have made the parking lot a little better and it looks like they are building a patio upstairs. Very cool. The inside had more decor and is even cuter than before. Now let's talk food. I ordered a bacon cheeseburger and mac & cheese as my side. I never order Mac & cheese but decided to change it up today. The burger was great, and the m&c was good. I was thinking about ordering the mac and cheese with brisket but was not sure if I liked their m&c and I do; so maybe next time I will order it. My hubby ordered a Texas cheesesteak with charro beans. Of course he loved it. It had tons of jalapeños on it. He put a few of them in his charro beans to spicy them up some. Overall all our lunch was great! Now we need to talk about desserts. We ALWAYS order snickerdoodle cookies from here. (These were to go) The cookies are big and fantastic!! They have other flavors but we just love the snickerdoodles. We were going to eat a piece of pie there. I had a hard time deciding on a buttermilk pie, chocolate buttermilk, Oreo pie or key lime. (The other flavors had nuts) I chose the Oreo pie and my hubby ordered a piece of peanut butter pie. Homemade pies are the best! We liked both pies and would definitely order them again. I would also like to say Lauren was the person who rang up our orders and she is just so sweet and polite. She remembered I cannot have tomatoes! I was impressed. Stopped to get lunch here today while out admiring all the bluebonnet fields in the area. So glad we did. I had the bacon cheeseburger and hand cut fries. Both were some of the best I've had in quite a while. The owner was working alone when we got there and had a huge party he had just brought out their food. When he took our order and brought out our food, it felt like we had his full attention and were the only ones there. Loved the vibe of the place, it was spacious but also felt cozy. My family went to Mr. Cox property for wild flowers and found this cafe close by. Everything we ordered was surprisingly tasty: coconut shrimp, mushroom steak burger, chicken caesar salad wrap. My 2 year old boy shared food with us and loved it. Their desserts looked delicious as well but we were too full to try. The waitresses were very nice and thoughtful. Stopped by because wanted to try something new. Place was nice with plenty of room. Menu was adequate. I wanted a club sandwich but I heard it was served only on certain days. The hamburger was perfect. Fries were good but just a tad under done but still good quality. My wife had chicken wrap that was a bit stingy on the chicken. Kids really liked the Mac and cheese. Wish they had a bigger kids selection. Biggest pet peeve is no fountain drinks. Had to get up to ask for more water. Worst part was a cat walking through the dining area. It would jump on booths and chairs. All we could think of was how often does it get on tables where we eat. Might try again some other time to see if it is worth visiting on a regular basis. read more

My family and i came here after a day of shopping in town center Navasota. We'd so many great online reviews and decided to try it out. We were greeted very warmly and were told if we had any questions about the menu they'd be happy to help. We did indeed have questions and we accepted suggestions on our order. One of us asked for extra lean brisket to which the cashier replied they would personally make sure to it didn't have fat. No sooner had we ordered it did someone from the kitchen come out and let us know that they could not guarantee it as the brisket was very mixed that day. We appreciated the honesty and the order was changed. The restaurant was pretty empty so we had our choice of seats. We didn't have to wait too long to receive our food. The cashiers brought the food to the table and upon inspection i noticed the bbq was covered in bbq sauce which had i known, i would have asked it not be on my bbq. As soon as i said this, one of the cashiers announced rather quickly "that it was too late to change my order so.." i just looked at them in disbelief bc i was very taken back with his lack of wanting to fix the issue. My daughter ordered brisket covered fries and it had bbq sauce all over it. She and I ate what wasn't covered in bbq sauce and took the rest home for my family. While i was very excited to try this place bc of the reviews i was very taken back by the lack of wanting to help when i showed my displeasure of what was on my plate. I gave the restaurant 3 starts.. the sides and cookies were delicious and the bbq that wasn't covered in bbq sauce was fabulous. If i hadn't had that person say that to me instead of just fixing the issue i would have given 5 stars that clearly so others have gotten. read more

If I could give this place a zero, I would. My group had very high hopes for this place. We walked in, very cute ambiance, menu looked delicious. We were a group of 16 and called ahead to make sure they could accommodate our table because we understand that's it's a smaller restaurant and we are a large party. we were told yes, they'd be able to accommodate us and it shouldn't be a problem. We arrive and begin to order when the cook comes out and begins complaining that all the chairs are being taken to accommodate us. Now, keep in mind, there's maybe 10 other people in this place and plenty of open tables WITH chairs. After hearing him continue to berate the other employees for allowing this to happen, I finally speak up. I explained that we called ahead and were told it would be fine. He responded rudely with "yes we can, we have 65 chairs, but at separate tables" my response was "okay but we called ahead and asked...why as a group of 16 would we want to sit at different tables, especially since we called a head to ask". After feeling very uncomfortable and realizing they in fact could not accommodate us we moved to 4 separate tables. After the move one of the ladies asked what we're doing, we explained that we couldn't all fit at that table etc. Then we were told "well now I have to clean that table". We came in very respectful and even explained that they can bring the food out as it's ready, instead of waiting for it all. After hearing the cook talk about the situation that is when I finally spoke up and said something in return. Service was awful. The workers continued to stare at us and I can only assume continued to complain about the situation. read more

The hidden gem of southern College Station/Navasota area. Wednesday early dinner (6pm ish), split an amazing Bacon Cheeseburger and fries, two cold beers. Out the door less than 21 dollars. Met the owner (and our chef for the night), very friendly and laid back. If you live in southern College Station, Navasota, or anywhere near, give the Whitehall a shot! Made a Sunday trip to Whitehall and stopped by the Whitehall Icehouse and Cafe. We had heard good things about this out-of-the-way cafe. We were not disappointed. We had burgers with a side of potato salad and an order of French fries. The staff was very friendly. While ordering, one of the ladies made a point of telling us that everything is freshly made - nothing frozen. The order came out with nice presentation. The burgers were very good as was the potato salad. The fries were delicious and very crispy. The prices were very reasonable as the sides came with each burger. It's not a very large place but very accommodating. They were doing a donation drive for the flood victims in Asheville North Carolina so there was a bunch of donations piled up in one corner of the restaurant. If you get out that way, make a point of stopping by. On a side note, there is a place that makes honey (Beeweavers Honey Farm) not that far from here. It's a fun place to visit while you're in the area. Beware - to get there you will travel on some real country roads . read more

The charro beans were too much sauce and not enough beans for my taste but not bad. The coleslaw was German style with a strong vinegar taste. My recommendations: The Breakfast Burrito, Any burger, Mac n cheese, and the hand cut fries ALL so good!!! You can't miss with anything on the menu though. Don's wife hand makes the desserts which are decadent and full of flavor. Try the peanut butter pie. My wife and I drove in from Cypress and it's well worth the drive. This little side of the road cafe was AMAZING! It was quintessential rural Texas and the food was delicious. The food was heavy and not the healthiest, but it was worth the splurge! We had a large group. 6 adults and 10 kids and we ate outside. The service was fast and excellent. The views at sunset were gorgeous. If we're ever back in the area, we'll Eat here again. Only downside is they're only open on the weekend. We got a cheeseburger- best I've had in a long time! And loaded French fries with brisket. The brisket was a bit Fatty. We also got the chicken fried steak with sausage gravy. It was to die for. And the sausage wrapped in bacon on a pretzel bun. It was delicious. Mac & cheese was loved by our kids.
