Working with Dustin Torres was such an immense pleasure! I totaled my 4Runner in a freeway rollover accident a month ago, and while I was incredibly lucky to walk away with only whiplash and some bruising, the last four weeks have been anything but easy. Given how well my 4Runner protected me in the crash, I knew I wanted another, but finding exactly what I wanted, with all the features I wanted, and that I could afford ... not so easy. Dustin walked me through a bunch of options, answered a lot of sometimes-stupid questions, and was very patient and kind throughout. I had been considering Carmax/Carvana options before this, 100% because I didn't want to deal with a car salesperson. But then I read so many horror stories about those services, I felt like I was stuck. Enter Dustin who, at the end of this entire process, feels more like a friend than someone who was trying to sell me something. He got me into a super sweet used 4Runner and then took me through a list of options I could roll into my loan if I wanted (I bought my last 4Runner at a Reno dealership, and that didn't happen - didn't even know such an opportunity existed). The finance process felt pretty painless, which was exactly what I needed, because my head still wasn't 100% clear, and that's a scary condition under which to go into debt! I never felt pressured or in any way hesitant or unsure. Lots of honest communication before the day of purchase had really set me up for an easy go of it. I am so happy to be back in a 4Runner, and with a local dealership, where I can stop in anytime, if I have questions. Huge thanks to Dustin and the whole team there who helped me. I made an appointment weeks ago for my scheduled routine maintenance. Today I would have my tires rotated and an inspection check for my 5,000 miles. My appointment was at 12:15. I sat in the comfy chairs they provided in the open lounge. The waiting area has a television but the volume is so low I'm unable to hear the T.V. They also offer hot tea or coffee. It's now 2:00 and my name is on the screen as pending service. I'm curious why have an appointment time when your name goes into a que? A little frustrating! Was finally able to get out hands in a Corolla cross hybrid for the hubby. He was able to call first thing Monday morning to inquire and the car was available. Next thing you know he is down at Carson Toyota without me test driving the car and putting a down payment to hold the car so we could go down Tuesday to finalize the purchase. Dealerships can be notoriously hard to deal with. The appointments that are scheduled so far out when your vehicle is in need of a service or you're having an issue that needs immediate attention. This dealership twice has saved the day for me. I originally had an appointment scheduled but it was several days away and my father in law passed away this morning. So I really need to get this service done so I could get down to Arizona. So I came in to see if I could get help. Once again this guy Danny saved the day. The guy is so patient and I felt like I needed to do another review. Bcz dealerships can get a bad rap. Coming in without an appointment you're at the mercy of whatever happens. He said we should take a RAV 4 even though we said we were looking for a small car. He said the RAV 4 was SMALLER THAN AN AUDI SEDAN. Blatant lie. I was in the market for a new car after my accident in the beginning of December 2024. I decided to visit this dealership one Friday afternoon because I was interested in a fun, RWD sporty coupe with a manual. The GR86 Hakone Edition was at the top of my list after extensive and exhausting research, but I wanted to sit in a normal GR86 just to see if I can actually fit comfortably in it. (I knew full well that they would NOT have a Hakone on the lot, because Toyota decided to sell ONLY 860 of these units in the United States, and half of them would be manuals. That means I have a shot of getting 1 of 430 Hakones in the country !!). A young man named Joseph Magallanes warmly greeted me, and we checked out a used one year-old GR on the lot. I sat in it and was thoroughly impressed. It fit me like a glove and the car felt like it was just an extension of my body !! I told Joseph that I was interested in the rare Hakone, and if he could possibly find me one. Come to find out, that the Hakone allocated to their dealership was already taken !! My heart sank, because now it was almost impossible to acquire such a limited production car. We chalked it up as just a setback, and decided to continue with the required paperwork such as a credit check. When he asked for a $1000 deposit, I hesitated, because I heard of many HORROR stories of sketchy car salesman keeping the deposit, even if the car never shows up. He kept my mind at ease by assuring me it WOULD be refundable, and even wrote the words "REFUNDABLE" in one our paperwork. That very gesture made me at ease and I just knew that I would have to give him my business. The next couple of weeks were marked with endless waiting. I'm not a very patient person by any means, and I was REALLY getting discouraged, to the point of just saying "forget about the Hakone", and even contemplated on getting something else. Then, about 3 1/2 weeks after visiting the dealership, I get an unexpected call from Joseph: "I got a Hakone for you" I COULD NOT believe it !! Joseph and his manager Trinity pulled it off and actually GOT me the rare and limited production Hakone Edition with a stick, 1 IN 430 sold in the United States !!!! The beauty of dealing with saleman like Joseph is, not only is he a "car guy" (which is one of the reasons we hit it off), but he was steadfast and relentless in getting the very car I wanted. And he was genuinely happy for me !! I decided to let him fuel up my car, as a reward for his hard and diligent work. It was one of THE best car buying experience I ever had, and I absolutely despise the whole car buying process. So if you want to deal with friendly and hardworking sales people when you or your family/friends are shopping for a vehicle, please give Joseph and Trinity at Carson City Toyota a call. I just had a very disappointing experience at Carson City Toyota. I had placed a deposit on a new 2025 4Runner, and at that time, the dealership provided me with lease payment options based on different down payment amounts. I was scheduled to finalize the purchase today, but the salesman, Hector, called to inform me that the lease payment would now be $120 more per month than originally agreed upon. When I questioned the sudden increase, the conversation became heated -- both with me and later with my boyfriend. The lack of professionalism and transparency was extremely frustrating. We've purchased many vehicles over the years, but this was by far one of the worst customer service experiences we've encountered. We will never purchase from Carson City Toyota or any of the Campagni dealerships again. Sarah with internet sales helped find me the exact Tundra we wanted (white vehicles are a HOT commodity, I learned). She found one from another dealer and got the ball rolling to start a dealer trade. I contacted her at 0822, at 0844 she found us a white 2025 Tundra Limited and sent pricing over to me, I gave her the green light at 0855, her and Trin (Sales manager) got the other dealership's approval at 1052, Larry picked my husband up in the new truck by 1415 to drive him to Carson to complete transaction, husband was home with the new truck in time for soccer practice at 1700. LAS wanted thousands over MSRP and insulted my wife by trying to co Vince her it was not dealer markup...it was marker adjustment. I hope this review helps to prevent someone else from having to go through what I've gone through as a result of trying to buy a car from Carson City Toyota. On 7/12/25 I went to the Carson City dealership to purchase a 2024, "Gold-certified" vehicle that I had test-driven and put a deposit on, earlier in the week. When I went in to purchase the vehicle on 7/12 they had it blocked in so I couldn't take it for a second test drive even though it took hours and hours of waiting, contract signing and salesman sad-fishing to get out of there. When everything was finally done, the salesmen suddenly started rushing me to drive it off the lot. They also waited until I signed all the paperwork to tell me that there was only one key (even though it was a 2024). Although I could sense that something was wrong and that the car seemed different when I got into it, I was exhausted after the long day and was happy to finally be going home. It wasn't until later that evening that I noticed that a bunch of things on the car had either been switched out and replaced with crappier versions, like the tires and the headrests or just completely ripped-off, as every single floor mat was missing. They used the long waiting time to switch out and rip stuff off the car. As if this wasn't bad enough, as I began to drive the car home and got it up to higher speeds on the freeway, the entire cabin of the car started to vibrate and shake so violently that it felt like the wheels were going to fall off at any second. I had to slow enough to need flashers to try and make it home without it falling apart. That was late Saturday evening on 7/12/25. They were closed on Sunday 7/13/25, so I returned it to the dealership the very next possible day, Monday 7/14/25. As I was told I was buying a "gold certified" vehicle and yet the vehicle ended up feeling so unsafe that I never wanted to set foot in it ever again, the dealership said they would follow up with me after getting approval from the owner to cancel the sale. Here's how I know they must scam/fraud A-LOT of consumers this way; When I brought the car in to be returned they immediately told me, "Most other states in the US have 3-day return policy on cars, but Nevada doesn't." In other words they were saying, "we committed fraud by lying to you about the condition of the vehicle that we sold you but, because we live in Nevada, there's nothing you can do about it." After I returned the car, I was told that the service manager "checked it out" and the reason they gave me for why the cabin was shaking so severely was that "the tires needed to be adjusted." In other words, the tires that they used to replace the ones they ripped off, didn't fit properly. I've had cars in the past that needed to have the tires aligned and balanced and "adjusted." Never in my life has the need for tire adjustment felt that scary, like the wheels were about to fall off. You would think that safe tires would be a requirement for "Gold-certification." Despite the fact that the Carson City Toyota Dealership tried to sell me a fraudulent vehicle, I agreed to put the money I paid for the returned vehicle towards the purchase of a brand new vehicle from them. I figured it would be more difficult for them to rip off a brand new vehicle versus a used one. Yeah. Unfortunately, they have now admitted that they also misled me about the value of the car that I returned and that it was actually $11,000 less than I paid for it. So now they've let me know that I need to agree to let them keep the $11,000 that they lied to me about, in order to proceed with ordering a new car for me. Ludicrous. They've had the car I returned to them since 7/14 and it is now a 8/30. I still don't have a car and they still haven't refunded my money. Ive had to pay for rental cars and ask for rides from friends and family to get my daughter to school and myself to work. I hope this helps anyone that reads this and I hope Carson City Toyota never has an opportunity scam anyone ever again. read more

We made our first appointment for our brand-new car purchased at Toyota and they were unable to complete a tire rotation because no one at the dealership knew where Toyota keeps the lug nut key. My wife waited there for two hours and was sent home without the rotation being completed. I then called back to complain, and the GM hung up on me. $195 for a diagnostic test! I paid them $195 a couple months ago for a light that was flashing on my dashboard and their diagnostic test came up with nothing. $195 gone. Now, after bumping into a cement curb, the dashboard light is on again. If lights are flashing at every bump in the road, then owning this vehicle is not worth it. Faith from the parts department went above and beyond! She restored our faith *hehe* in Toyota departments. We had gone to the Toyota in Vacaville, CA where we were given wrong parts even though the VIN number was provided for accuracy. I had even shown him the push pins that we needed in my hand. Faith easily pulled the correct parts and explained that the cabin air filter for prime is different than standard Prius and that the push pins we were given were for the front fender when we had specified that we needed them for the back. Went in to look at all our options with used or new SUV's. The salesperson was helpful in giving us lots of information about hybrids and the different trim levels. He let us sit in a Prius just to see how it fit us tall people and we found it was hard to get in and out of for older buyers. They had two on the lot of the 2025's. So we reversed our thoughts and wanted to stick with our idea to buy a Rav 4 Hybrid. He took us to the back lot to see a used one that just came in. It was dirty because they did not clean it up yet but it gave us a good idea on how it would fit us. They did not have any on the lot 1-3 years old so this tell me they don't get turned in very often. The salesman was new in the area but sold them in another state so he knew the vehicles. He was nice and helpful. He took us in the showroom to show us information on these units but them turned us over to Jon. Jon was super friendly and very helpful and not pushy at all. You could tell that these units sell themselves and he does not have to use pressured sales. He took us in the office to show us the list of Rav4 Hybrids and those that were locked up by other buyers waiting for the vehicles. There was only two left off the list of one's coming in. We were not ready to buy right then as we are still trying to find out more information on a Hybrid SUV. But I would not hesitate to buy from this lot. The only reasons for the 3 stars is: very little parking for buyers, they should have more 2025's on the lot so a buyer can just drive it home, and we should have been giving brochures on the vehicles we were considering buying new. read more

My wife reached out to Carson City Toyota when she was looking for a new car. We had my Toyota serviced while under warranty at this dealership and always had a good experience. The online sales team was able to assist her with finding a 2021 AWD XSE Camry with all the options she wanted as well as her color preference at another dealership. They provided her with the price and she made arrangements to go in the following day to have her trade-in looked at. She began working with Hector on the sales team. He was knowledgeable and helpful without being pushy. They talked through the details and agreed on a deal. Hector worked with the sales manager to officially order the vehicle from the other dealership and notified my wife that they would be in touch when it arrived. 3 days later they called to let her know the car had arrived and she made was able to make an appointment with the finance office and pickup her car. The finance appointment was super quick and easy and she felt good about the covid practices being observed as well. Hector showed my wife the safety features and made sure the car was perfect after being cleaned up. Overall it was a great experience. We will be back for routine service! read more

TLDR: Carson City Toyota is refusing to refund my deposit, even though an agreement that their Sales Manager signed clearly states that the deposit is refundable. In Mid 2023, I was looking for a 4runner TRD Pro. At that time many dealers were charging markups. Carson City Toyota does not charge markups and so I decided to give them a chance. They communicated to me that I could put my name on a list and that in order to put my name on the list I needed to put a $1000.00 non-refundable deposit. The estimated time frame for the car to arrive would be in approximately 3-6 months. Given that $1000.00 is a lot of money and a lot can change in 6 months, I had some concerns. I offered to do a $500.00 deposit and the dealership agreed to that. When it came time to sign the deposit agreement, the agreement did not contain some of the terms that my sales person had discussed with me. I added those terms into the document as well as a couple other terms designed to provide some piece of mind and consumer protections in the event things did not work out. The terms that were added included codifying the reduced deposit amount (document they wanted me to sign still had $1000.00 as the deposit amount), adding the term that my sales person mentioned about the transferability of the deposit to another vehicle and a clause that stated that the deposit would be fully refundable after 8 months. The sales manager made an edit to one of the terms and countersigned the agreement. Fast forward to present day. While TRD Pro 4runners are still a hot commodity, market conditions have changed. I'm no longer in the market for that vehicle. Per the terms of the mutually agreed upon agreement, the nonrefundable deposit becomes a fully refundable at the 8th month mark (see attached photos). I notified my sales person that I am no longer interested and would like to have my deposit refunded. My sales person directed me to another team member. This team member initially appeared helpful, but became increasingly hostile, at some points even yelling at me. This team member went on to allege that I had added my terms AFTER the sales manager had signed the deposit agreement. Adding terms after a document has been signed is not only unethical but also fraudulent. Being accused of fraudulent and unethical behavior is extremely offensive and borderline libelous, especially considering that there was ample evidence (see images) that show that the sales manager signed off on the document AFTER the requested changes were made. After speaking with several member of the dealership staff, including the owner, the dealership has maintained the position that they will not refund my deposit. I wanted to post this review to warn others who may be considering purchasing a car from this dealership to be wary. While it appears, based on social media and press, that the dealership is family oriented and deeply involved in the community, their business practices aren't very ethical. Usually when an agreement is signed, both parties are bound by the agreement. In this particular case, they are choosing not to honor the terms of the agreement and tried to flip it around and allege that the customer is unethical. All this aside, even though I'm actively considering several vehicles, including the Supra and new Land Cruiser, the fact that they are not willing to honor contractually obligated terms and are were willing to allege that I was being unethical and fraudulent makes me unwilling to buy a car from this dealership and unable to recommend this dealership to others. read more

My father recently had some work done on his 2004 Toyota Tacoma. They replace the steering rack assembly. Also did valve cover, gaskets and spark plug seals. During the first return of service after work was performed by their service department, the idle was high and the rear harness on the motor and some of the other harnesses were not even completely attached they missed bolts on the harness. After further examination of their Work, he had found that his injector rail mounts are all broken. The power steering reservoir is over full and keeps leaking out. Bryan is my service manager. He has been very easy to work with. The first response from Brian was that he could replace all the broken parts at my cost. Management should get involved and compensate and honor their work that was performed by their technician number 44. I believe they are capable of doing very professional work, but if this is how their service department operates it's very disappointing and disrespectful!!!! read more

With dealerships, most people dread. We had a great experience in the Carson City Toyota dealership compared to the Reno dealership. Less tax, no already added on items and overall a better price. They have someone who walks you through possible accessories but no pressure which was so nice. Their service center is open on Saturday and the Reno one isn't. The fact is, after you've spent thousands of dollars at their dealership, they will do everything to scam you and not fulfill the Toyota warranty. Don't spend your hard earned money at this place. I would have been better off going to the Pick and Pull out in Mound House and slapping some used parts on my brand new car. I went to get my car serviced earlier this week and was taken a back by the amount of time it took to do an oil change and tire rotation. The lobby was full of people taking naps my appointment was scheduled at 11:45am, and I did not leave until 2:20pm. If you come for a service, know that you may have to wait extra time for completion. Luckily they have a comfortable lobby with tea and coffee fully stocked. But I was instantly drawn to the blue Avalon which was the top of the line. I thought just for fun we should take it for a test drive. I mean I don't need these fancy extras. For example not only are the front seats heated but they are also cooled. Believe it or not, the back seats are also heated. Plus it has this safety feature where I can push a button and see a 360 around the car and if anyone is around the car. So COOL. Needless to say, I was shocked that my husband wanted us to buy the car. We sat down and talked to Seth. Seth and the Carson City Toyota came up with an offer we all felt was fair and we purchased my car which is a lovely blue (my favorite color), Avalon Hybrid Limited. I highly recommend Seth who is down to earth and friendly. As a matter of fact he even texted me on my birthday which was three days after we bought my car. What a kind and thoughtful salesman. Therefore if you are looking to purchase a new car I highly recommend Carson City Toyota. There is nothing better than being made to feel like you are family. I will leave my poor buying experience for another day. My first service with Carson City Toyota left me more dissatisfied than with sales. I took my 2022 4Runner in for the 5000 mile service (It took 10 months to drive 4850 miles). I told them that the brakes squeal...and had for several months. After 3 hours they said my brake rotors were discolored due to "riding the brakes". I do not ride my brakes and have never had this issue in any vehicle I've owned previously. They basically called me a liar and that I'm responsible for the rotor overheating. They would not even consider any possible issues with the computer controlled braking systems (aka "safety systems") as these are the only differences between this vehicle and my previous Toyota vehicles. I have a 4Runner which has a braking issue Carson City Toyota will not address. Maybe I should just sell it! read more
