Please avoid this place at all costs. Carson City Hyundai sold us a vehicle with a bad transmission and have now had our car for two months for the repair. The service manager is the son of the owner and he certainly acts like it. They've been feeding us a story that the process is out of their control but when I called the repair service center that now has our vehicle (after sitting for 6 weeks at the Hyundai service shop) they advised that they are waiting on Carson City Hyundai to provide information on their repair attempt before they can proceed with the transmission replacement. Again, they've had this vehicle for two months! This business has caused an incredible hardship on my family. They are deceptive, providing half truths, dragging their feet on the repair, then speaking to us in a condescending manner and gaslighting us. I really don't write many negative reviews, but this has been the most insane experience of our lives and I certainly hope that this review helps just one person avoid being put through what we've been put through over the last two months. read more

I was a dedicated customer for eight years, since we purchased the car new from that dealership. Had a routine Maintenance, oil change & Tire rotation and after driving to Northern California the very next day, we checked the oil and to find out the oil was barely visible on the dip stick and was black ! Looks like the oil was drained and never filled ! . .This was mentioned to the Service Manager who was quick to deny, making excuses. He proceeded to try and make us look stupid. He was rude & insulting. There was no need to respond, let alone argue with him as this was the response I expected to get. No reasoning with this guy. Not wasting my time. I'm 65 years old and owned more cars than he's had hot meals in his life . , Turns out, he's Carson City Hyundai's son . . . . I'm sure he doesn't to get in trouble with . . . "Daddy" . . . At the end of the day, my concern is proper maintenance of my vehicle. After eight years, we no longer give them our business and because of their service department, we will no longer purchase any vehicles from Carson City Hyundai. If we purchase another Hyundai, we will go to Reno. This is a sad but true story. Ok so I reviewed Hyundai Carson City on Google... it was a negative response. Same review is here on yelp if you scroll down. I find it interesting that on Google they are a 4.7 star rated yet here... 2.9 or less? Maybe because here they can't delete reviews? Idk... well I wanted to share who I assume is the service manager responding to my review which you can scroll down and read. Mind you... the service writer lied to me about having issues with a recall that didn't exist. She the called me trying to gas light me about them working on my car and having issues with the recall as I am in the parking lot taking photos of my car that hadn't moved. I didn't care about the time it took. I cared about the fact they lied and then tried to double down and fas light me when holding them accountable for those lies. The service team there seems like they need a revamp. All complaints on here seem to be predominately service related calling out the service manager. I personally am a service manager for a heavy dominate repair facility that services all of Carmex and carvana repairs as well as dealerships who "can't fix the problem". We are a high level store who can fix anything but our primary goal is customer service and communication because warranty work takes time. So I understand issues in the shop. Whoever wrote this response was more about my review history than running his shop correctly. That's a certainty. Before I buy a car from them... that shop needs to be fixed. I plan to venture down there to look at a new santa cruz but will need a reassurance that the service department has been fixed before I ever buy from them. Do not buy a used vehicle from Carson City Hyundai! They sold us a vehicle with a bad transmission and have had it for two months now! Half the time we have owned it. We just found out they've been lying to us about the status, as the shop that currently has the vehicle for the transmission repair advised today that they have been waiting on Carson City Hyundai to provide information so they can proceed with the repair. The service manager at Carson Hyundai in particular has been horrible to work with and is incredibly condescending. He compared himself to a heart surgeon and a pilot and not to rush him. When he has had my car for 2 months with no end insight. This has been the worst and most insane experience we have ever gone through. OF COURSE The interest rate was higher! I suspect what this dealer did was hit me with a rate I qualified for, then found another loan where the dealer POCKETS THE DIFFERENCE!! THIS ALSO Happened to me at Reno Dodge! 2 ways to stop this. First, if the dealer pulls this shit, tell them you will bring the car back, 2. I'm not going to tell you not to buy from this dealership -- just read this and decide if this is the kind of business you want to support. My mom, in her late 50s, is raising her 7-year-old grandson after the tragic loss of her daughter in 2020. She's a single-income household doing her best to keep things together -- so when she bought a used Hyundai SUV from this dealership, she trusted she was making a smart, reliable choice. She was told the vehicle had a 171-point inspection, and even paid $100 out of pocket for an engine block test. The test came back fine, and with their reassurance about the vehicle's condition, she felt comfortable trading in her old car. Right after the sale, the dealership started contacting her repeatedly, demanding she go to the DMV to request an expedited title -- because they hadn't properly reviewed her documents. She had to pay for overnight shipping to meet their last-minute demands. On top of that, the car wasn't smogged, and she was told to handle that herself for later reimbursement. Within a week, the brakes started failing. She contacted the dealership and was told the car was sold as is. They quoted her nearly $700 for brake work -- plus told her the transfer case was leaking and she needed filter changes. When she brought up the inspection, she was told they don't actually do that inspection on used vehicles. Complete contradiction. They actually told her to her face "you were not told that" pretty much calling her a liar. She told them she couldn't afford the repairs and was brushed off. I called on her behalf and got nowhere -- until I filed a BBB complaint. Suddenly, they were willing to talk. When my mom went to pick up the car, they pulled her into an office with two men. One of them acted like he didn't know who she was, even though he admitted to knowing the situation. She was spoken to coldly and dismissively -- and ended up in tears. Only then did they agree to cover the brakes. One of the men even mentioned the BBB complaint and said the owner doesn't want to help people who file complaints. They eventually fixed the brakes, but only after all this unnecessary stress, multiple trips from Reno to Carson City, and my mom walking to work while her car was in the shop. Then, in their BBB response, they simply wrote: "We do not respond to non-customers." Funny, considering they tried to pressure my mom into asking me to take the complaint down. For someone like my mom -- juggling the daily weight of raising her grandson, maintaining a home on a single income, and living with the loss of her daughter -- the last thing she should've had to deal with was a dealership she thought she could trust. You can decide for yourself what kind of business this is. If you are purchasing a new vehicle, they might provide great customer service - Just make sure you know what you're walking into. read more

When I went to schedule my final 'free' for 3 years oil change I was informed that I was 2 days overdue. When I spoke to the service manager and asked him to honor this he became almost rude. I told him that I would not be coming in based on this experience and the fact I have to drive down from Tahoe and the every oil change has taken 2 hours. Before and during the sale, they treated me with kindness. However, when I showed back to them the next day with safety concerns about my purchase, the general manager came out and spoke to with an uncalled for belligerent and uncaring attitude. He did not want to discuss the concerns, he said they could do nothing and I had to honor my signed sales contract. He was a stone wall of indifference and a bully. The staff disappeared when he came out to tell me that I had no recluse and that I had to honor the deal I signed all of the papers for. We were so pleased when this dealership fixed a recall issue with my newer Hyundai and so I left 5 stars. At the time they told me they checked the car and I needed alignment so I paid them to take care of it. They also told me I needed a full brake job so I brought it back in for that repair. The problem is the Status Report that I received was pricey and not accurate. The items listed that needed repair or service would cost about $5,271. Here is a list of the items to be included in that price: 1. Battery failed test 8. Coolant Service 2. Brake Fluid 9. Transmission Service 3. Drive Belt cracked 10. Transfer Case Service 4. Crank Case Service 5. Oil Change 6. Cabin and Engine Air filter 7. Water Pump Belt cracked We decided to take it to our Mechanic in Reno to have these items checked out. The battery was good and passed the test, the fluids needed topping off, no belts cracked. They took care of the Oil Change and the Air Filters replacement. Everything else was checked. We walked away with a $150 bill. I can no longer recommend Hyundai of Carson City. read more

Mind you, my initial experience was only for an oil change, but it was a very positive one so far. I was greeted, and asked if I would mind waiting for a moment because they were just wrapping up with another customer, they would come and get me in the waiting room. The waiting room was fully stocked with comfortable chairs, coffee, tea, waters, sodas, ice cream sandwiches and chips and snacks. That was a huge surprise, that it was very clean! We went over what my vehicle needed and what I was there for. They informed me that I had three Service recalls that I did not know about, my car is fairly new to me, and they took care of it while I was there! They rotated my tires during the oil change Did a full car wash. It was an extremely pleasant experience, having dealt with Carson City Ford for all of these years, I felt like royalty here. I will say, however, I did buy my vehicle, a Palisade, at another dealership because the sales person and manager never did get back to me on the vehicle. I was looking at here. I would give them "0" if it was available. It all began in Aug of this year, when I had to have them order me a new key fob (which took over a week to get), and then I was charged a total of $600. I wanted it to be programed, and they said I would need an appointment, which took another week. I showed up and was told that before they could proceed, there was a safety recall that had to be done first, and then they said they would do a complimentary inspection of the whole car, then program the "FOB". After an hour, I looked out and my car hadn't moved, so I asked about it and was told it would be ready in couple of hrs. So I asked for a ride home (which they did) and they picked me up three hours later, saying they had trouble with the program, but it was done. THEN...it was on the inspection it was noted that the lights on my license plate were'nt working. I finally decided I would get it done, even though they would charge me $70 (for two bulbs). Okay I show up for my appointment (10:40) again they said they would do another complimentary inspection, I said all I wanted was the lights replaced, as was told they have to do the inspections first. One and a half hr. later she said did I still want the lights repaired (??) and I said that's the only reason I was there. Twenty minutes later (20 min.) she said it was done... That's only 3 hours for the work that took twenty minutes.. NEEDLESS to say, I will NEVER have Carson City Hyundai touch my vehicle again. After reading a multiple number of reviews (which I should've read earlier) it's apparent I'm not the only one disappointed in the service dept as a whole... read more

After breaking down three times on a trip with only 1600 miles we were told to leave the vehicle and they would get us into a new vehicle at low to no cost to us. After flying back from a ruined trip we ended up paying an additional $10,000 plus the cost of travel for the new vehicle. we were told it's the best they could do. We tried to recoup some of our loses through consumer affairs and Hyundai offered us $1000 and closed our case. My son took my 2022 Santa Fe Limited in for a scheduled appointment for oil change and tire rotation. They indicated my cabin air filter should be changed, Wanted $141 to change. My son told them to forget it. After oil change complete my started to return home and stated blower motor was now making excessive noise and still is. I'm sure they did something to cause this, was just fine before this, because we refused to have them replace to cabin filter for $141.00. Will never go back there. read more

I had a very bad experience with Carson City Hyundai with a salesman called Joseph Dehaven. He looked me up on Marketplace, called me in with my mom's navigator that she left me when she passed away. It was worth some good money. He told me there's a couple things that they didn't tell your mom that it had two major accidents that almost took the title, and I asked him to look at his phone because he was looking at the car fax, he wouldn't show me. Then he offered me way below what I was asking. So I left with my vehicle. My daughter looked up the Carfax on it and found out what he told me was all a lie, and I saw how much it was worth so I took my vehicle to Corwin Ford in Reno to Christopher Winberg what a great salesman he gave me what I wanted. over the weekend I went to go look at a 2023 Nissan Altima. Initially just looking at the outside of the car it had some cosmetic damages. Grille was broken, scratches all over, trunk lid is not aligned, there was one different tire in the front (car was AWD) so it could effect it, front seat was whipped and there were many stains on the interior. They proceeded to tell me the car was fine with one different wheel and make me feel stupid for asking about them replacing it. I had dealt with Gregory Dephillips. They ran numbers and tried to tell me because I was "a first time car buyer" I had to put 7k down when the vehicle was 21k. I then advised to him the deals and numbers I got at Nissan and the sales manager then started talking bad about the Nissan dealership and the people over there and when told not to he gave us an attitude and walked away. Service manager is very rude and inconsiderate. There is definitely no caring by him. I'm single senior with no family in Carson. They had my car for 4days for a recall. The next morning after my service. All my warning lights went on. I took it in at 7am. He said if we don't get to it can we keep it. He said you can't have a loaner. So I said I will have to pick it up and bring it back. I asked if I could get a shuttle he did say yes. It's so sad dealing with someone like him.
