My friend bought a vehicle here a few months ago and have had nonstop problems since the day she drove it off the lot. When she tried reaching out multiple times to discuss options, she was either ignored or yelled at and hung up on. Looked at a few auto shops in Carson to run a diagnostic for the AC in our little '08 Hyundai Elantra. We ended up at O'Reilly's for a couple things and meandered into Carson Servicenter to ask about taking a look at the car. Shannon was very informative and friendly and we ended up making an appointment the next morning. The service was prompt and, with the use of text and email, they were very communicative and detail oriented about the service. Well unfortunately I fell victim to the fast paced used car debacle. Unfortunately for Carson Servicenter it could have been a great experience. The guys are friendly enough (they are salesmen) but they are just after a quick deal. I'm pretty mechanically inclined, and I still got screwed (partly my own fault). Before I bought the truck it had a vibration, I had a good hunch it was due to the drivetrain (driveline or rear-end). They assured me it would be fixed before I took the truck home. Well, of course, it wasn't. Here is where I screwed myself. When I drove it home, the vibration was still there. I SHOULD have turned around and dropped it back off. Unfortunately I needed the truck and was also caught up in that "I bought something new" feeling. Next, The trucks service engine light ended up coming on the same day on the way to dinner. No problem, no power loss, no issues to raise a red flag in terms of noise or performance. I ran some tests and the engine checked out fine. My theory was the ECU had been flashed (chipped without a chip) for better performance. I asked about this and the guys would walk around the question (apparently it is not lawful to sell a vehicle with a modified/chipped ECU?). I can understand them not wanting to get in trouble, and tbh I didn't care if it was chipped, I just wanted to know so I could forget about the stupid SEC light. The truck had a whopping 15 day warranty. Being a full time employee of a very busy company coupled with performing tests, that flies by. I was able to get it in on the 13th day to have them tell me why the light was on (being confident it was "chipped"). After a few days they made the determination...that is was chipped. All the tests checked out. Sadly, I made the mistake of NOT bringing up the vibration while having the engine checked out (something they should have taken care of on day 1). I noticed there was a real problem with the drive train after I hooked up my travel trailer and put a heavier load on the truck. It was clear the slip yoke on the driveline was shot and the differential was grabbing. I contacted the guys to let them know what was up, but received no response. After I made it home safely, I contacted them again. No response. I removed the diff cover to inspect the gears, LS, etc and noticed that the pinion gear appeared to be rubbing on the carrier (NOT GOOD). Sent a picture, no response. I wanted to give them time to remedy the issue, seeing as how I paid a fortune for a used truck (COVID demand). Sadly, as is typical for a used car dealer, they don't give a turd about you after the warranty period is over. I know this is PARTLY my fault, but used car dealers are held to an inspection requirement to sell used vehicles, to prevent people getting screwed. One of the inspections required is to determine if the drivetrain is damaged - identifying by unusual vibrations, etc. Well, I TOLD them of the vibration, they TOLD me they would fix it, and they did not. So, it seems they lied to me, and subsequently lied on the legal document suggesting there was no problem. I have to decide whether it is worth my time to make a legal case out of this, or fork out the 1,000 dollars it will cost to fix this issue (DIY btw). In short, if you buy from these guys, drive that car like hell within the first 14 days to try and break it, that way you can get everything fixed on the 15th day. read more

I would give this zero stars If I could. My grandma bought a car from here. The car started at 9,000. The guy gave her $500 off for cash down payment, $500 off for returning customer, plus took another $1000 off for the car having body defects. $9,000 - $2000 = 7,000 right? They wrote $8000 on the cost of the car and she put $4000 cash down on this car. Not even 2 months after she bought this car, it caught on fire and burned not only her car, but her house down. When we called the dealership to try and work something out, the guy freaking laughed. I dont find any humor in an 85 year old womans house burning down. Will never buy from them again. Also, my brother bought a car from them. It was a VW Jetta. He took the car there to have the brakes done. The mechanic said the key was sticking a little bit so they sprayed WD-40 in the ignition. We had to pay $400 and have the car towed to the dealership to have a brand new ignition put in the car. Do some serious research on these cars. they like to cover defects with spray paint and obviously dont know what is a fair price for a car. My grandmas car was not worth any more than $5600 and she was charged $8000 on this car. Total rip off dealership! Will NEVER go here again. read more

I had read amazing reviews, and thought I would have an amazing experience. I was wrong. The truck I purchased was sold to me with major exhaust leaks which weren't apparent at the time of purchase, bad shocks, a leaking radiator and leaking power steering pump and a bad track bar. After being told "any issues I had within 30 days would be taken care of at no cost" I contacted the owner to have the issues fixed. After they "fixed" them they sent me an invoice for $650. I refused to pay that, we finally negotiated down to $100. Which I shouldn't have had to pay, but I did because I thought he fixed my issues. Well after continuing to smell spot coming through my trucks vents I took it to a diesel mechanic to have an inspection done. None of the issues had been fixed. And it's going to cost me over $1500 just to fix the exhaust leaks so my family doesn't breathe in carbon monoxide every time I drive. I tried to get the owner once again to make it right but he refuses so I will be filing a complaint with the DMV since these issues were not explained to me before my purchase. I've been taking my Dodge Ram diesel to Drew, Stephan, and Zohan for a few years, so I did again recently when my transmission started acting up. They did not have the right diagnostic equipment to ID the problem, so they suggested I take it to the dealer. Carson Dodge called with within a few hours with an answer-- $6200 for a new transmission! I'm no mechanic, but this didn't seem right. The truck was driving just fine, but the transmission wouldn't disengage when I came to a stop. I called Stephan and he agreed with my assessment, and offered to give it another look. Fast-forward a few weeks and the guys at Carson Servicenter really stepped up. After buying new diagnostic equipment just to work on my truck, they found that I had both a computer issue and a mechanical one-- with my torque converter. It took them many hours to diagnose this double whammy and they could have justifiably thrown up their hands and suggested I buy a new transmission. Instead, they took the difficult route and made it their mission to fix the truck. Great customer service isn't easy, but it's what great businesses do. I appreciate the frustration they endured on my behalf. Bottom line: my truck is running great and they did the job for $2,450. For those keeping score, that's $3,750 LESS than Carson Dodge wanted to charge. These guys know their stuff, do good work, charge less than the other guys, and only fix what needs fixing. Got a truck here a few months ago and soon noticed an oil leak. Took it back and had a boot from the turbo replaced but the oil leak didn't stop. The truck then stopped running in the middle of a snow storm and we had it towed to a mechanic. We had to replace the high pressure oil pump and the oil cooler. Then, we noticed a weird noise coming from the front end and had to replace the u-joints and transmission mount. I have spent about $5,000 fixing a truck I just bought. Highly would not recommend purchasing a vehicle from here. read more

I was sold a car here about 2 1/2 years ago. Ever since I've had this car it's been nothing but PROBLEMS. For starters when I tried to insure the car I was told it had frame damage and I couldn't insure it with a certain company. Secondly I just found out today (because I went to get rear brakes on my vehicle at Les Schwab) that these rims on my car don't even belong to this car. So they wouldn't let me take my car and wanted it to be towed. NO wonder when I drive my car jumps, shakes and on top of that I've been getting brand new tires every 6 months. I felt confident that coming from a mechanic shop and offering a 3 month / 3000 mile warranty, I would have no issues. Well...I actually had an issue with the car. I took it back. I was on my way to carson city to see my daughter and grand kids. Got to the top of donner pass and my 2010 equinox started to run real crappy. Luck for me there business was on the corner of where we were staying. When I got there I met Raul who was very pleasent. I thought the cat converter went out . He said they would not be able to fix it till Monday. Monday came and I met stephan. He was going to look and make sure that was my problem. After about a hour he called me to come over and he showed me the engine was gone. There would be no more life in it. After all it had 208000 miles on it. I could go on forever but won't. He told me how much I was looking at and I was like wow. Even though it was a better price than I would get at home (fresno). So I had to leave the car for about 3 weeks and I am glad I did. He called me said car was done and I asked him how much and the price he gave me was much lower than it was at first. He found a engine and it was a lot less then it was first thought to be. He could have charged me the first price we discussed but he didnt. I was even able to set up a deal for payment. I would highly recommend if you got car problems go to him. If I ever have a problem with my car and I can get it to him I will make the trip to carson city. Don't hesitate if you have a car problem take it to them.. James with the red equinox.
