Wow! We took our GMC Yukon back to Michael Hohl motor company today (02-26-2025) because it had a check engine light come on. Turns out, that the repair was going to cost $850. Plus the labor to replace/ install the bad part. GREAT NEWS! We purchased an extended warranty on the vehicle when we purchased it in December 2024. The ENTIRE repair and labor was fully covered by the warranty. Our Service writer was Zach Hawthorne, and the Tech was Tom Bevan. Lack of communications. No written estimate on repairs. I requested my cabin air filter to be replaced regardless if it looked clean. I had previously requested my local shop to replace it but they did not saying it was clean.They did not charge to look at it. Michael Hohl charged $35 dollars in labor, charged 52.8 for the filter, MSRP for part is $40.06 and Michael Hohl's advisor typed in story it was dirty due to lack of maintenance Dishonest. Up sales given on differential fluid and transfer case at three different times with price increases ranging in $600 different each time.Seemed suspicious so I declined stating I didn't have the money. I was told by advisor the repair was $540 and whatever my GMC purchased extended warranty would not cover I would pay my part.all over the phone no written estimate emailed or texted. I later called my extended warranty to see what they covered and what repairs were being completed Labor $200/hr Parts at MSRP tax. Pcv was 2.5 plus 1.0 for diag seat belt diag .4 and .9 for 1.3 4.9 total hours at $980 Parts 463.93 tax $35.25 total $1479.18 minus my $100 ded. for the extended warranty work plus the cabin air filter that I requested. After 3 weeks the day before vehicle was expected done, advisor texted that it would be finished early afternoon next day.. I stated to advisor I would be in town that day as I live 60 miles away. The next day she texted not called that it was done at 5:49. I texted back immediately that I was in town asked what time they closed. No response. Google said they were open till 7.Incorrect google listing. I went down immediately and they were closed by 6. I drove back 60 miles rearranged another ride and spent another day plus more gas money to drive back. When I arrived my advisor H. sat in the back, she did not smile or welcome just stated someone would be there to help. She was not on the phone and rude. After waiting a young pleasant man came in and asked if he could help me. He had to retrieve my keys and paper work behind my advisor H. as she was not willing to get up. He said it was $540. I asked why so much since extended paid MSRP and $200 per hour. After more time going back and forth with my advisor H. refusing to get up to explain she rudely stated across the room she didn't know why and it was a phone auth and didn't know how it all went down. I stated I didn't have money for price gouging, and the young man dropped the parts back down to MSRP taking $145 off of parts.It was still $406.I asked him the labor rate he stated $225. I was charged more then their labor rate? I paid cash and left as there was no help from my advisor on extra price charges. No effort in getting vehicle back to customer from out of town, parts delays, terrible service and lied about actual condition of my cabin air filter. I have the previous shops paper work as it was days old when I took my truck to HOHL for ext. warranty work. Later I gave an unsatisfied review on dealerrater. It stated to call shop manager. I did. He stated he would add up the ticket and watch the cameras and get back to me. After a week no response so I called. He said the advisor H. emailed a written estimate. I saved all contact and had no written estimate he could not provide the documentation. He stated labor rate was $225 and obviously did not go through the charges to see why I paid more than their shop rate. He said maybe it was the freight charge. That was $24.87. He would review again and call me back. That was 2 weeks ago. My truck is a 2020 GMC Canyon with only 61k on it. Its terrible to have the seat belt fail so early and unfortunate on the early failure of PCV and then to be charged more than MSRP and more than their stated shop rate while keeping vehicle for 3 weeks with no extra service to stay open a few minutes longer for an out of towner causing more time and money.. Terrible. Payed $3500 for an extended warranty.12k miles later the transmission got up to 263 degreees towing my 4k pound boat up long hills coming home from Havasu this last year. I drop if off, they're exact words "we are 95% sure it's covered" then when my wife drops it off they sneak a $250 diagnostic fee "but only if it's not covered" they would not allow me to wait for my vechichle. They told me they needed 24-48 hours to do a proper diagnostic. We drop our truck off Wednesday at 9am. I have to spend 20 mins and hunt someone down from service on the phone just to get ahold of someone. Just for the to tell me they want $1000 and will take a week to replace the "transmission thermal thermostat" guess that's not included in the "powertrain warranty". I don't think the thermostat is bad. I believe they delete it because I have a Silverado same year, $6200 amco transmission and they wouldn't warranty anything unless the thermostat was deleted. A PPE thermostat delete is $80 online... STAY FAR FROM THIS PLACE!! Hopefully the Yukon will stay together. Also, It took them over 30 hrs just to get to my truck so why they even make appointments is just crazy. Got people paying for rentals cars for trucks to just sit. Brought this truck in around the middle of October last year. Most expensive service I've ever had for this Truck. How hard can it be to change a Fuel filter and a Fuel sensor which are right next to each other. They didn't have enough of these filters in stock so they had to resort to O'Reilly's auto parts. You would think this part would've been much cheaper than the dealership and a little less than half the cost because I got a quote on it a couple days later when I called O'Reilly Auto parts. Then intern charge me dealership price which was almost $150. I was also charged almost $500 just for the labor alone.For a journeyman technician to take this long to replace a fuel filter shouldn't be working there anymore. If he were to work for me, I would fire him. They had this truck for two days. I got a call from Alex the service writer telling me that the truck was ready to pick up. When I got to the dealership, I went see Alex, the to pay the bill. I was floored to see how much they charge me just to replace a Fuel filter and a Fuel sensor. I said to him this is outrageous!!! I walked out of there not happy at all. I felt like I just got screwed over. Which that was exactly what it was!! Who charges someone $750+ to replace a Fuel filter and Fuel sensor??? I called Alex the next day and left a message telling him his technician didn't complete his job and that his technician didn't clear the percentage life back to zero on the dash. I asked him to give me a call back and let me know how to clear it myself. I looked it up on the Internet, so I already knew how to do it. I just wanted to see if Alex would return my call. I've been to this service 2x with my Chevy Tahoe for oil change. First time they told me I need to change my shocks even though they have been changed 6 months prior. And second time they told me I need to change my break pads and rotors even though they only have 6000 miles on them and look Brand new. This shop is trying to get you to do stuff on your car that is not necessary. How would I know if there was actually problem when I know they want me to change what is not broken. In 2021, I purchased a used 2019 Chevrolet Colorado, which now has just over 60,000 miles. Earlier this year, I began experiencing major issues with the vehicle, including hard shifting, reduced power, and complete A/C failure. Living in Carson City and wanting expert, brand-specific service, I brought it to the certified Chevrolet service center at Michael Hohl, trusting they would be best equipped to handle the repairs. That assumption proved entirely incorrect. From the moment I dropped off my vehicle, the experience was marked by poor communication, lack of transparency, and a troubling disregard for customer service. The technician assigned to my vehicle, Zack, failed to provide regular updates or even basic documentation. Despite repeated calls and messages over two months, I received no paperwork and only vague updates that the repairs were "lengthy." Every time I reached someone, I was told my concerns would be passed along--as if my urgency and frustration weren't already clear. During this time, I was told the necessary repairs included work on the A/C system, torque converter, and other issues--totaling nearly $10,000. I was not offered a loaner or transportation assistance, and when I asked, I was told to rent a car at my own expense. I was also initially told diagnostic costs would be covered under warranty, only to be hit with unexpected charges when Zack later said the warranty didn't apply. When I finally picked up my vehicle, none of the issues had been resolved. The check engine light was on, the air conditioner still blew hot air (despite 90-degree temperatures), and shifting into first gear remained rough. I contacted the service manager, Adrian, who asked me to bring the vehicle back and assured me everything would be taken care of. However, upon returning, I waited over an hour just to drop off the car, and no one could confirm if Adrian was even present--despite his assurances that the visit was arranged. My vehicle stayed at the dealership for five more days, during which I received only two brief calls saying nothing was wrong and they didn't want to waste parts and labor. I felt dismissed and gaslit. When I picked up the vehicle again, it had been returned to me with an empty gas tank, and the A/C still wasn't functioning. I had brought a thermometer in anticipation and documented that it was blowing at 94 degrees despite being fully activated. I sent Zack a video and photos, but--as had become the norm--received no response. He previously claimed he hadn't received my texts or calls, but I've since confirmed and documented that he had. As a single woman who relies on her vehicle for daily commuting and work travel, this experience was frustrating and disheartening. The service at Michael Hohl Chevrolet wasn't just unprofessional--it was negligent. I was treated as if I lacked the knowledge to advocate for myself or recognize when I was being misled. For a five-year-old vehicle with low mileage, these problems shouldn't be happening. More importantly, no customer should be subjected to such disorganized, unresponsive, and dismissive treatment--especially not at a dealership claiming to offer certified service. To make matters worse, after my failed attempts to resolve the issue through the dealership, a colleague with prior frustrations with the same location offered to take a look. In just 15 minutes, he discovered the root cause: the certified technicians had overfilled the incorrect side of the coolant system. This not only disabled the A/C but may have contributed to the hard shifting issues as well. That a non-dealership professional identified the problem in minutes, after months of delays, underscores the incompetence and negligence I encountered. I cannot in good conscience recommend Michael Hohl Chevrolet and will seriously reconsider ever purchasing another GM vehicle. I strongly urge others to seek out more competent, customer-focused service--and to approach this dealership with extreme caution. read more

I contacted the service manager, who instructed me to bring the vehicle back and to ask for him personally, promising that everything would be arranged. However, I waited over an hour just to drop off the car. As someone who works and relies heavily on a vehicle, this level of service was completely unacceptable. If you decide to do business with this Michael Hohl you must beware of the dishonest tactics which they displayed trying to get trade values and buy a vehicle. They are without a doubt taking advantage of people on trades and 'extras'; I have purchased dozens of new vehicles and this is by far the absolute worst experience my wife and I ever had. The salesman and sales manager displayed typical dishonest dealer tactics. I came in with numerous competing trade offers from local dealers and online car selling services, they had the nerve to come back with numbers significantly lower than anyone else in the are. One vehicle was ATLEAST -4,000 and the other approximately -3500 less than I received from Carmax, Corwin GMC, Mercedes Reno, Driveway, Nissan of Carson, GiveMeTheVin and Carvana. They some how presented me with even more slime ball tactics when they gave me a deal breakdown sheet (attached) which included a whopping 6,994 worth of added accessories. How they provided this sheet with a straight face is beyond me. Bonus slime ball points for having salesmen look at the truck acting like others were interested while we were waiting for numbers on the truck and trades. I let them know the deal is absolutely not happening and the offers were insulting and I thanked them for their time and walked, lo-behold I get a call two hours later when I am back home in Reno and the Sales person stated if you come back after 5 PM we will have a deal. I told him it will not be happening and would like to speak with the sales manager as to why they couldn't do this while I was there and why the were trying to take advantage people. Instead they chose to waste my families morning. Unsurprisingly I never received a call; I received an email from the General Manager a few days later asking if I needed any help; I let them know what happened and still never heard back. If you don't want to be taken advantage off I implore you to please go elsewhere. If you need a ACTUAL extended GM service contract you can buy them after the fact from knapp service contracts or Todd at MacMulkin Chevrolet for a fraction (70% less) of the cost Michael Hohl is charging. I purchased from a neighboring dealer and they didn't bat an eye at my trade values or me not wanting to pay any add ons with the same discount as Michael Hohl. I used to love coming here for service on my Chevy truck. The service department was reliable, helpful, honest, and quick. On my last visit, I took my truck in for 135,000 mile service, tire sensor not reading right, trailer brake needing service, and to check the CD player. I had poor communication, the service agent seemed to have no idea what was going on. I got my truck back and after spending a significant amount of money and 2 days I expected my truck would have no issues like every other time. My paperwork said 90,000 mile service performed (this had been done with 100,000 mile service), no mention of the CD player, and said tires were fixed with sensors recalibrated. My right front tire came out with a slow leak, my tire sensors weren't calibrated right so I thought my right rear tire was low (it was inflated to the right psi so I thought the sensor still read wrong which I took it in for) and in fact it was my right front tire. I was told my lug nuts were swollen so they couldn't rotate my tires because they weren't sure they could get the tires back on. I asked for the lug nuts to be ordered, they said it would be about 4 days. I had a missed call one day about a week later and was hopeful it was for the lug nuts. When I called back and no one answered I left a message thinking I would get a response. I called back 2 days later and still no response. As my tire became more urgent to be fixed and unsure if someone could do it without removing the tire I began to feel unsafe in my own truck that has always been good to me. I called a 3rd time and finally got the receptionist who forwarded me to the service agent who had been working with me. After stammering and opening the account again to figure it out I was once again told it would take a week to get the lug nuts. I asked why they hadn't arrived yet and they were never ordered 2.5 weeks prior when I asked. I drive for work and questioned my safety. Luckily a local tire shop in rural Nevada fixed my sensors, patched my tire, and it was quick, friendly, and affordable. I wasn't the only one disappointed when I was waiting for my truck and this is the service department I brought my truck to from Reno for the great experiences I had in the past. I have always said I am a Chevy customer for life, but after this recent service experience I have to question whether my new truck in the future will be a Chevy. We saw a vehicle on their website that was the right price and condition for what we were looking for. We arrived at the dealership and were met by the GM, who turned us over to Tristan. I let Tristan know we were in a rush as I needed to be leaving the store in an hour, for a graduation event. I honestly was not expecting to be able to wrap up the deal in that one-hour timeframe. We had just been at another dealership in the area the day prior and it took nearly 3-hours to make a cash purchase of a vehicle. But Tristan said he could make it happen, and he did - test drive and all. I appreciated everyone's efforts to get me out the door so quickly. Everyone we dealt with, from sales to finance, were very expeditious and courteous. The vehicle we purchased was used, so not a lot to report there, other than they had it clean and ready for sale with the obligatory inspections done. They filled the gas tank and gave her a quick final inspection prior to us leaving with the vehicle. It was a great experience on all the levels. Worst experience ever with the Gmc dealership service department. Drove 110 miles for a 7:30 am appointment to get bad glow plugs replaced under warranty. They knew I was in the waiting room because when I made the appointment I was assured it would be serviced promptly. After waiting 8 hours and numerous conservationes they replaced only 3 bad glow plugs. Their diagnostic test showed an additional 2 had an ohms reading of 1.7 and at 1.8 would set an DTC. A normal ohms reading is 1.0. The 2nd time I started the truck after driving 10 miles the check engine light came back on. The paperwork I received showed a total labor hours at 1.7 but I was there 8 HOURS! Hello everyone, Recently i've brought my beloved truck in for a diagnosis and a quote regarding my brakes. after diagnosis i was told i would have to change my brakes out, all of them i declined because of the price of parts and labor. During the diagnosis i assume they had pulled everything apart and put it back together so i towed it back to a family members house and changed out the front brakes(never touching the rear) after i finished i tested out my front brakes a little bit around the block and it seemed to be working completely fine. i hopped on a road with the speed limit at 50 and sped up to 50mph again it seemed fine for about ten minutes. All of the sudden my truck slams down in the back and i watch my tire go pass me (at 50 mph) into the oncoming traffic lane. luckily no one was coming no one got hurt and i looked at the other side rear and it looked as if neither assemblies were put back together kinda just sloppily staged up to look as if it was also looking at my brake shoes which also had life left. any ways i've called them about 10-15 times.only getting the front desk as if all the numbers i've been given are funneled to them. I keep asking for someone from upper management, radio silence on all lines. Nothing i've emailed and texted the only real helpful person there so far is what seems to be an ai generated help sms text line which i may be wrong. I've been getting a run around i am willing to edit this review or delete it if someone from upper management will get in contact with me i'm sure you have my number save i don't want a number to call i would like for upper management to call me at this point i am considering pursuing legal action for the gross negligence this dealership has committed causing other people and myself at risk and damage to my property. read more

I have an after-market alternator on my truck that uses a non-stock sized serpentine belt. Here's the update: Dealer never cleaned, detailed, changed inside air filter, stcks, leaves trash in Air cleaner ans windshield broke side to side where they supposedly made repairs. Safelight replaced the windshield and inside the dash was a live baby racoon living in dash for almost a year.Thwy never made scheduled repairs, didn't (couldn't cause of raccon) change inside air filter. Over 66,000 miles on tires that were never replaced. Mirrors are still scratched to steal. They didn't detail it, ran it through the car wash. Pictures to back it all up. I just bought a used 2023 Sierra 2500 AT4 with about 41000 miles on it. I had the truck less than a month and the transmission has taken a dump. I have codes P0700 Transmission Control System and P0747 Pressure control Solenoid A, stuck on. I was towing my small trailer on hwy 88 back from Sonora CA and about Pine Grove I get two hard shifts, bang, bang. Then the truck goes into reduced power mode. After getting my trailer and truck towed home to Gardnerville, I was able to drive it to the dealership to get the transmission looked at. Its going to be four days to diagnose, but the preliminary estimate is the value body is bad. You cannot just replace the solenoid; whole valve body needs to be replaced. The good news is GM will cover the service and replacement of the valve body, but the bad news is the parts are 4 months out. Something about a national backorder on valve bodies. This is unacceptable. I have a camping trip, at the end of August, I had planned for a year out, which we may have to cancel. Not happy. The service writer did say that he has seen similar failures with less miles. Isn't that encouraging. So, my advice to you all is do not buy a GM 2500, at least for now. I would sell this one if I had not bought it only a month ago. Too big of a hit. So, I don't have an issue with the dealership, just GM and the delay in getting parts. read more

Drove away with a used 2020 gmc Sierra. Same day heard a clunking noise when parking it. Addressed it with my sales person. Due to the weather/snowy conditions I could not make it in. Attempted two days later.. walk into the service department where I was told the tires are just rubbing when you max out your turns.. bull.. I'm not an idiot. Someone else had to offer me to test drive it. Test drove it.. the girl agreed something is indeed wrong with it. Tells me I should schedule an appointment in 4ish weeks LOL. I just bought a 40k truck and this is the service that I get WITH a warranty. I need better service.. expect better service especially after I just handed you my money and my trade in car. These guys just don't care. Took my brother's car in for an oil change and tire rotation. Took 4 hours. Previously he took it to a dealer in another state which took 45 minutes for an oil change. My brother is diabetic and it took two days to get him back to his normal blood sugar. How can someone expect you to sit in their waiting room for 4 hours. Their estimated time was two hours. If I could give this place -5 stars, I would. Save yourself from headache, don't go there to buy a new vehicle! They took down payment EIGHT MONTHS ago, still, the vehicle was NOT ordered. ZERO communication! We finally called them in the beginning of November, to get an update/when we will be able to get the vehicle, and were told "2023 models are not available anymore. You'll have to get 2024 one. We will order one for you and get you updated on Monday" 2 months later, still ZERO communication, and when WE called, it's still not ordered. Reported them to GM. I'd advise against dealing with them. My truck was towed in and needed a new starter and knock sensors while they were at it. They told me that it was too old (2002) and they could not get the parts. I pointed out that Chevy had built 10's of millions of the 6.0 liter V8 and the dealer in the town I came from had the parts in stock. They told me that other dealers sell aftermarket parts, really? I Chevy dealer that does not sell OEM A/C Delco parts? Right. So I towed the truck to another mechanic we bought the OEM parts and fixed the truck. So came to find out that Michael Hohl will not work on anything over 15 years old. That's fine it's a business decision that I have to respect, but why not just say that instead of lying to me? One week later I drove down the street and bought a 2025 Tundra for my wife ~$70K. I guess the 2002 is the last in the line of five Chevys I have owned. Good job Hohl's you lost a customer for Chevrolet.
