Dr. Tack is a great Dermatologist. I drive to Carson City from Reno to see him. I could not find a Dermatologist in Reno. I am so thankful I found Dr. Tack, He is a true professional and the staff is great. read more

Just after have the doctor remove a growing cancer in my left shoulder, I went in for my third follow appointment and was informed I owed $500 in co-pays after about six thousands of dollars of care, which I did not know about. Come to find out, the co-pay bill was going to some address I had not heard of. I asked to start making the payments, that day, and they said to "ever see me again, they need it all in full". I told them this was not legal, they could not refuse service. The assistant to the doctor specifically said "we are not refusing you care, we are just not going to make an appointment for you". You can read the rude word play in that answer to me, and the illegal way a doctor refuse to complete their care of a patient. Since then, that spot has bleed a lot and has needed additional care from my doctor in Oregon. I can not recommend this practice because they lack the commitment to complete a patients care, and not willing to accept 3 payments to get a 500 bill down to zero. It is important they get paid, I firmly believe that, but they failed to complete the cancer care for me, a patient wanting to pay them asap, working with my income. read more

I was seen and quickly treated for a skin cancer. Staff people are gracious and efficient. Dr. Gratrix moved quickly through the process and when I asked him a question or two, sat down to chat for a couple of minutes. He went quickly from being an unknown doctor to a nice guy. If you're coming from Reno they are a short trip away at the north end of Carson City. read more

I have been to several dermatology offices but this hands-down is the best. They are very professional very knowledgeable and have an excellent bedside manner. My visits were with the PA Melanie Buckley who is very knowledgeable and calmed my anxiety and successfully treated my skin condition. I went back to her for laser, Botox and filler after learning they provide these cosmetic treatments also. I have great results and look ten years younger thanks to Melanie's expertise. The drive is easy from Reno and worth the trip. read more

I was referred there by my doctor for extreme hair loss after labs came back ok. I met with Dr Gratrix. He told me, don't worry, you won't go bald, get Rogaine, it happens. As I'm tearing up about not being able to wear it down because you can see much of the scalp he tells me to wear a hat. I left feeling worse than before. read more

I live overseas, and when I couldn't get in to see my regular dermatologist during a short US visit, I was referred to Dr. Clemmensen to get some sunspots frozen off. While I was there, I asked him to take a look at an odd sort of puckered spot on my nose that was becoming more pronounced. He was very dismissive, which kind of irked me, but he did a biopsy and said they'd have the results in a week or so. I never heard from them. The next time I got in to my regular dermatologist, they took ONE look at it, and rescheduled several other patients to get me in for Moh's surgery ASAP -- I had a basal cell carcinoma. It took four "scoop-outs" to get it all. With the reconstruction surgery being done immediately afterward, I was worked on for nine hours. A month later, still steamed about the lack of follow-up from Carson Dermatology, I called them to ask about the biopsy results. After a brief hold, I was then cheerily told that all is well, my biopsy was NEGATIVE! I said that was real interesting to hear, since I was still recovering from Moh's surgery on the cancer they say isn't there. All I got was a stuttered reply that she'd have Dr. Clemmensen get back to me. I'm still waiting for that, too. Can you imagine if I hadn't gotten another opinion? I wouldn't go back to them for anything. read more

Super unprofessional! I have been here twice, once to get a mole checked out- it was oddly shaped and discolored. They actually laughed at me and informed me that it was "silly" of me to come in for that mole. I decided to come in again when I had an acne abscess on my cheek, they informed me that there was nothing they could do about it and reccomended no products. I was going to ask other questions about my skin but they were so rushed and I wasnt even able to get the chance. I would definitely recommend going somewhere else. read more

I had an appt today at 9:30 am and traveled from Yerington which is an hour away. Got to the office at 9:10 and checked in. At 10 am I asked the receptionist if they are typically running a half hour late on appts and she checked with the doctor and I was told I would have at least another 1/2 hour wait. This is my first visit and I was upset to say the least. If the doctor is running an hour late the receptionist should have said so when I checked in. I left the office without seeing that doctor and won't be going back. Very poor customer service. I think my time is as valuable as their time. John T. read more

Persons who have a concern about those weird-looking bumps and things on their skin will receive excellent and compassionate care at this location. Dr. Gratrix and his staff of friendly assistants were really cool about what I needed and helped me without much of a wait at all. Not even worth a star! Very Rude on the phone. They refused to provide services for Medicaid patiences that are not children, even though there phone number was given to me by Medicaid personal that said they were providers. Wouldn't answer any questions, just wanted to get me off the phone. Wouldn't go there even if I had the millions of dollars they are asking for a service!!!! read more

This place was professional and provided fast but not hurried service. The equivalent office in Reno has a 3 month minimum wait for an appointment so the drive to Carson when you have a situation that you are anxious about for an appointment in days is in itself wonderful. I was greeted and treated, inspected and out of the office in a minimal amount of time. I never felt rushed or that I was being given less than complete attention. They seem to be organized and just plain on the ball. read more

I had a fairly decent visit. Skin cancer on my ear. Dr. Tac was very professional and made me feel at ease. No one wants to get treated for skin cancer but it wasn't too bad. Had to wait for biopsies durning my surgery, but all dermatologists do this same thing. read more

I'm new to town and needed a local dermatologist for standard skin cancer screening. Carson Dermatology was fantastic. Easy to book an appointment, very nice facility, helpful and efficient staff. I made my appointment with the PA (physicians assistant) since it was faster to get and I had no know issues. She was fantastic. She was able to freeze a few minor spots right then. I waited for 25 minutes after my appointment time, I was told Dr. Tack was running late. I asked at 45 minutes past my appointment time, I was told they weren't sure when I could get in. I drove from Tahoe City to get to my appointment, they were unwilling to help me see another doctor and they could not assure me that my next appointment, the same thing might happen. I wasted 3.5 hours of my day, driving there, waiting, no doctor to see, drove home, after waiting 6 weeks for the appointment. Don't bother going. read more

Hello All, I wanted to provide feedback on my recent experience at Carson Dermatology. I have been a patient of Miss Melanie Buckley PA-C for the last 4 years. The back story. I had relocated from the East Coast back in 2005 and established dermatological treatment with a to be unnamed practice in Carson City. I became disinchanted with the treatment and ignored my dermatological needs. I had a unusual lesion on my arm which needed attention. Relying on social networking and reviews, I found my way to Miss Buckley in Nov 2013. She diagnosed my lesion as a Melanoma and if you are reading this review in the first place, you know that Skin Melanoma is very serious and can be lethaI. Miss Buckley is an extraordinary clinician who is very knowledgeable, and thorough. She is very patient, never rushed and answers all of my questions and concerns. She was available after my melanoma procedure which was a very anxiety producing time for myself and my family. This year, she relocated from a South Reno practice to continue her career in Carson City with Carson Dermatology. Because of her caring, knowledge and expertise, I followed her to her new practice. This week, I had a MOHS procedure performed by Dr. Adams after Miss Buckley diagnosed a new skin lesion. I am very pleased with outcome. I look forward to continuing my medical relationship with Miss Buckley and Carson Dermatology. read more

I was referred to Carson Dermatology by my primary care doctor even though I live in Reno. He thought they would be able to get me in quicker than my usual provider in Reno (and I have always been very happy with that provider). They did get me in quickly. The facility is very nice and the people were friendly. Dr. Gratrix and his nurse Melissa were fantastic. The people that checked me in and out were pleasant and didn't have that "I work in the doctor's office and I am the gatekeeper to the medical gods attitude." Dr. Gratrix was pleasant and more than happy to answer questions and explain things. He was very polite saying something to the effect of "If it doesn't bother you, would you turn your head to the left" so that he could do the procedure. I liked Melissa because she was down to earth, competent and humorous (meaning she got my humor). It was well worth the short trip. I read other people's very positive comments about Dr. Gratrix after I had the procedure, and I agree with them. If you have a Mohs procedure, I founded it sounded worse than what it was. They have a nice waiting room to wait as you wait to find out if they need to cut off more tissue, and I found it entertaining to check out the others patients' awkwardly placed bandages. Noses and ears do not wrap up elegantly! read more

It is extremely stressful when you are potentially dealing with cancer. I went because of a growth on my face. This was my first experience. They never notified me of results. I tried calling 3 different times and their phone just rang. Someone else went to a dermatologist in Reno and told me to expect a thorough examination where they document all blemishes. The nurse practitioner only looked at the two presenting growths and did not check anywhere else. The care I received and follow through felt like what might be expected from a low cost clinic. All except the $270 charge for service. read more

Prior to scheduling the appointment I called and asked if they handled my case. The receptionist called me back and said yes. I waited for an hour and a half to hear the doctor no we do not handle this but I can give you this medication. I expressed that I had tried everything and I called prior to scheduling my appointment. He gave me a prescription (which if course did not work) and sent me on my way. Fast-forward I get a bill for $70 (I have insurance). I call upset since I was initially lied to. According to the receptionist the doctor gave me a prescription (which I told the doctor would not work since I had already tried it) so I need to pay. I do not recommend this office as I will NEVER return and will advise to make the extra drive to Reno. read more
