Our some loves coming here. We don't get a lot of feedback on how he's doing though. We were told that he gets a badge on his 5/6 class. Then you match that up with a paper they give you to see what level he's at. The parents sit away from the kids so it's hard to watch to see how he's doing for myself. The swim instruction at Carson is done well. They have several levels learning in small groups throughout the pool and seem pretty synchronized. Instructors are proficient and gentle. Parking lot is large. Pool and grounds have shaded areas. Laid out efficiently. A bit pricey, but what isn't these days, with their own expenses to cover? read more

I wanted to love this place as I had heard so many great things about it, however, that was not the case. The pool is very small for the amount of lessons taking place, which led to extreme crowding in which instructors had to actually stop and wait for others to swim by which constantly interrupted the students lesson. In addition to this, after the initial lesson, parents were forced to wait outside the fenced in grassy pool area in a cement dirt area. Not only was it over 100 degrees and much hotter in this area but you could not view your child during lessons. I asked my children which swim lessons they preferred and to my surprise they both liked Brentwood Family Aquatic Complex better. I thought I would get what I paid for( Carsons is significantly more), unfortunately this does not appear to be the case. The instruction was just as good, if not better at BFAC. read more

As far as the swimming goes I give them 4 stars . As far as the parking.... We'll it sucks . I waited 15 min for parking . The lot is big and there was still no parking . My child missed half the class due to this !!! Maybe don't schedule classes back to back and give the parents time to leave so there's parking spaces . It was ridiculous. We've called this place a couple of times, but no answer so we decided to stop in and see if we have better luck. The place gave us a really good, relaxing family owned vibe. Connie, the office manager helped us explain the classes, prices & times. She also let us sit outside and watch the classes so we can get a feel for it. We signed up our son for M, T, W, TH classes for two weeks and excited to see him learn to swim! 6/27 It's my son's second week here and I have to say, it's going smoothly. It is well organized and the staff is wonderful. The swim teachers really know how to interact with the kids. There's a sitting area for the parents and shade! Since I can't hop in the pool, it's the next best thing in this hot weather! Can't wait to sign him up again after this week. Amazing place! read more

Coming here with my nieces definitely brought back a flood of memories (no pun intended). This was the very place where I became a fish in water instead of out. The Carson Family have been running this place and inspiring so many generations that it was a privilege and honor to see how far they've come since the late 80's/early 90's when I was a student. My son is currently enrolled in the Parent/Child class. The pool space is pretty crowded and the school is a little pricey, but overall, we like coming here. The environment is nice (it's outside) which is so much better than indoor pools, the instructors are friendly and encouraging, the activities are age appropriate (lots of singing), and the pool isn't overly chlorinated like the other swim school we took our son too. Only real complaint is I wish they offered my make up classes. You pay so much for the classes, it'd be nice to have more than one day as an option for a make up class. read more

My daughter started taking swimming lessons at Carson's when she was 1 years old in the mommy and me class. We go every summer all summer and she is 6 now. She is very comfortable in the water, loves to swim and looks forward to swim lessons!!! She talks about it all year long. The instructors are very good at introducing them to the water so they are not scarred and make swimming a fun and safe learning experience. Connie in the office is amazing and always on top of any questions I may have. The Carson's are also in and out of the swim school working and checking in with parents! I highly recommend Carson Swim School and because of them my 6 year has been swimming for 2 years solid and I am comfortable with her when we are on the boat, or at a lake, or swimming in the pool. It was either 10 years ago or less, I had a huge fear of being in the water that my parents would put me in in Water Park swimming classes. I would always stay in the beginning class because my teachers would lie to me about not letting go and I would be drowning multiple of times. I was freaking traumatized as favorites the other more sociable kids. My mom would put me in this Carson Swimming class where it's a private one on one class. It was great because the teacher would give me full attention, they would learn about what my comforts and fears are. My teacher was requested by my mom to be the same guy to teach me for those private lesson because we didn't want someone else to traumatize me as I already built trust in the dude that taught me in the first place. The lady at the desk was nice and understanding when she attended my mom. My mom has poor English which the lady had no trouble with. Thanks to Carson Swimming, I dropped a few of my fears behind and learned how to properly float (not actually swim because we can only afford so much but keeping their lessons in mind, I learned how to swim by myself in P.E. a few years later which I would not have done at all if I haven't took these classes) The teacher treated me with respect, REAL trust, and laughter. I'm not sure but hope that the management and staff is the same or similar to when I attended. read more

My son is 2 and we just finished our first session of the parent/child class. We loved the first session so much that we enrolled him in a second. Unfortunately, our experience in the second session was not as wonderful as the first. Apparently the parent/child classes have an 8 student limit. Imagine 17 people (8 babies/toddlers, 8 parents and an instructor) having access to about 1/4 of the pool. The class was very in-effective unfortunately. Luckily we had a really great experience our first time around (there were only 6 kids in the class last time which was much more manageable) and progress was definitely made in his swimming abilities. Another note, the temperature outside was only about 75 degrees and the pool water is not heated so all the poor babies were freezing the entire class. Again, not so effective of a lesson when your child is clinging to you shivering because the pool water is not heated. Finally, we were going to miss a class and needed to schedule a make up class. After taking over $100 for the actual 6 lessons they wanted to charge an additional fee of $6 per makeup class. I am just in shock and awe that they can charge so much for the initial lessons then pile on even more if you have to miss one of the classes! Talk about adding insult to injury! We ended up cancelling what is left of our second session and will try again next year when he is older. He should no longer be in the parent/child class so hopefully the class sizes will be smaller. Maybe by then too they will use some of the money they are raking in to turn on the pool heater! read more

I have been taking my son here since he was 18 months old and in the parent child class. He is now 4 years old and goes in the pool with an instructor. I also now have my 2 year old daughter in the parent child classes as well. I think the instructors do a good job with all the kids and the class sizes are appropriate. It's never been more then my son and 2 others per his instructor. The instructors are all usually young teenagers, which concerned me at first but I have always been pleasantly surprised at how well they do with the little ones. I have always found Connie who works at the office to be very helpful. She really listens to your concerns and does her best to make you and your child comfortable. My son would cry at 1st when he 1st started his lessons without his Dad in the pool with him, and Connie was always great at calming him down and making him not feel scared. I also agree with the other review about the not letting you sit inside to watch your child. I don't like that part either, especially because my son does better when he can see me. PLUS it's always so hot in the sun where we have to wait and inside by the pool it nice and shaded! They also are a little hard to get ahold of, but I think it's just because they are all so busy with lessons. Overall a GREAT place to learn to swim in an nice clean environment. read more

Really surprises me that someone can give Carson's less than 5 stars. Our experience was awesome! My daughter had a horrible experience the summer before at another swim school and ended up being scared of the pool. A friend recommended Carson based off his wonderful experience that his 3 kids had, so we decided to try them out. 4 week session and my daughter is now diving under water, floating face down & on her back!!! I had my son in a private lesson for over $200 and the instructor was an uncharismatic dead beat. She also put him in a time out in a one on one lesson. Seriously?! When she was told it was a thirty minute lesson instead of a twenty, she literally rolled her eyes. Some advice for the business: if your employee doesn't want to work there, let her go! She told my son to blow bubbles on the shortest step, guess what happened? My kid smacked his head! The class was at 5:30 in the evening, she couldn't have some empathy for my 4 year old. My daughter attended for a 2 week 4 days a week class and loved her instructor and playing in the water. My husband enrolled her in the next available class as she she still only plays at the edge of the pool. Unfortunately, this was the 2nd week my husband and I rushed to get her to a class at the mentioned time by an employee there and my daughter has left crying because she thinks they don't want her there. Last week, they apologized when we got there because they forgot to mention that classes didn't start until today, today they apologized for giving us the wrong time 2:50pm instead of 6:10pm is a big difference. At first they made it seem that a refund was possible but when my husband tried to do that, they claim they only do partial credit I refuse to bring my daughter back. It seems they have poor communication between eachother and are used to apologizing without actually taking responsibility for their mistakes and reimbursing unsatisfied customers. read more

It provides great memories for kids and at the same time allows them to know how to save their own lives in the even of the cruise ship going down. Carson Swim School is the best place around for teaching your child and baby to swim and be water safe. We enjoy each day of swim lesson and am attending for the second summer. My swimmer is only two but now is able to swim in a lesson with out me, which is excellent. She has learned so much and if she keeps this up, next summer she might be able to swim across the pool. We love her swim teachers and the kind office staff. The pool is always kept at a temperature so it is not cold. The facility is clean and has great parking. They offer private lessons and there are small group lessons that have no more than 3 or 4 students. Last summer and part of this year we were part of the parent-child group class which was so fun and taught her to get used to swimming lessons. We will be coming back again and again. This was our first summer at Carson. Our 3 year old daughter had an aversion to the water. So much so that even bath-time proved to be difficult. Going into the first class our hope was just to get her into the water. Anything more would have been a bonus. She loved 'swim class' - so much so we ended up signing her up for 4 sessions this season. Each teacher was patient and allowed our daughter the time to trust them. Now she practices her 'pillow floats' and 'sandwich hands' while in the tub. Carson was worth every penny we spent. We will be back next year. read more

The Carson Swim School is the best! The schedules are very accommodating especially for us working parents. The prices are reasonable. The staff is extremely friendly, patient and helpful. They are very attentive to the children. The pool is always warm for the children which is very nice. My daughter loves to go! I highly recommend this school for any age; however, it's always good to wait until the child is "ready". It's not about us. This business does what it's supposed to. To teach how to swim. Every child is different so some methods may not work for some children. Less than two full summers of swim sessions at Carson and my child is diving and swimming the length of the pool and looks great doing it! My child has the confidence to jump in the deep end and enjoy and just have fun in the water now since coming to Carson. I highly recommend them. I do have a wish list for Carson; pool cannot accommodate the number of lessons going on at once, kids are in danger of bumping into eachother. And my child has hurt their hand as a result of this. So they either need a bigger pool or cut down on classes, for safety if nothing else. read more

I have tried to call this place for over a month now and still not a call back. I want to purchase swim lessons for a grandchild for christmas. My grandchild did attend last summer and loved it. His parents want to take him again, so I have agreed to purchase him 1 lesson. I can not find out what the cost is. Why do they even have a phone with an answering machine, if they don't call people who leave a message. I live a few hours away so I can't just stop in their office. Save your money and send your child to place that cares about customer service. My wife and I were so disappointed with the service we received at Carson Swim School. The place is like a conveyor belt... They move the kids in and out like cattle. The staff doesn't even take the time to discuss your child's progress after each lesson (or ever). Also, if your child is signed up for a small 30 minute swim class and the other children don't show up for the class, they shorten the lesson to 20 minutes. This made no sense to me since my son's instructor just "hung out" in the pool for an additional 10 minutes doing nothing. Like I said, send your child to a place that cares about customer service. Prior to swimming lessons she was very timid around water and would not get her face wet. Now she is extremely confident and will jump in and swim completely across the pool. We took our little one here when he was 2 and was in the parent/child class and just recently returned after 2 yrs of no lessons to find that he is in a class with the instructor and 2 other children. As we were watching his 2nd lesson, we were told by one of the staff that we had to sit outside the fence in the sun or stand inside the small lobby to watch our child. The sitting area is so far away and the location of our child was such that we could not see him at all, not to mention it is 90 - 100 degrees now! There is shade inside by the pool. While waiting for the kids in the class before us to be picked up and dropping ours off with his teacher I was standing by the back door (that has a glass window in it) and the owner rudely opens it on me then she says sorry in a not very sincere manner. I find it incredibly funny that she doesn't look out the door before she barrels over people! Then if that wasn't enough, I am standing outside the fence watching the lesson and one of the little ones needed to go to the bathroom. I'm going to go out on a limb here(since mine does this) and say that most this particular age wait until the last minute to say they need to use the restroom, so by then you had better be close! The instructor told the staff sitting in the chairs "supervising" two times that she needed to go. The "deck supervisor" then was looking for the parent (who was sitting outside in the viewing area). Suffice to say this little one had an accident right there! Absolutely uncalled for!!!! If they are going to relegate the parents to the other side of a fence that can't easily be accessed from the outside, then they had better be able to take these kids to the restroom! The only good thing was his instructor herself. Will not go back! read more
