We had Carter Exteriors replace the roofing on our home. The work done was satisfactory. However, customer service after the sale is absolutely non-existent. Gutters were damaged during the install - they agreed to replace but never did. area where installation has failed - exposing sheathing. Countless emails, text messages, phone calls have gone for the most part unanswered. a couple promises to make it right... all end up with no follow through. Filed complaint with Better Business Bureau in Amherst NY who also attempted to contact them on multiple occasion, and I just got the message from BBB that Carter Exteriors failed to respond to their inquiry as well. will now be proceeding with a small claim. that should go better because i'm sure they won't show up.We read more

I'm writing this review to warn anyone of working with Austin on a house project this year. We hired Carter Exteriors to replace our siding in June 2024. We were told after signing the agreement that the siding would be there in six weeks. After months of hearing its delayed, its on the truck, or frankly radio silence, the truck showed up with no notice and dropped supplies off at our house in late August. We reached back out to ask when they would be starting and got no response for weeks until a call asking if they could show up that morning to start. We have no complaints on the subcontractor who did the work. They were professional, courteous, knew what they were doing, and worked efficiently. The issue came up when there was a miscommunication on replacing our back slider which was in disrepair. The reason we chose Carter Exteriors because they said they would fix both the siding and replace the door for us. Our mistake was not getting a scope of work up front for the door but Austin assured us the entire time the team was working on our house that he would send us a quote for a door which unfortunately was not a standard size. To his credit, Austin did look for doors in stock in that size and told us that the ones available were not good quality. When the siding work was complete except for the door and the garage trim (which materials were apparently out of stock for in September), Austin gave us a discounted cost (~1k off the total project) and assured us that he would come back any day to finish the garage trim and give us a quote for the door and we would pay the remaining then. We are pretty sure now that this small discount was just so the company could get paid and he wouldn't feel bad about not finishing the job. We never received a quote for the door even though we followed up multiple times in September, October, and November. We tried calling Austin directly, we tried calling the company, and we even tried to reach out to another project manager that worked for Carter Exteriors that a friend had worked with. We never got a response back from any of them. We are now going to another company to replace the door and hopefully have them finish the siding. Its a shame that I am writing this review because the subcontractor did great work and I liked the fiberglass siding we went with. Luckily many companies in the area use ALSIDE siding so I would recommend going to one of those instead. read more

It is scary to contemplate spending so much money on re-siding one's home. But when the representative from Carter Exteriors came to my home to explain things to me and give me a quote, I knew I was in good hands. As the time came to do the job, Austin Carter coordinated with me about the best time to start, and he sent the most congenial and hard-working crew. Very expert at the job with a minimum of fuss and noise. Four really respectful and nice guys who worked hard and were polite. I would give Carter Exteriors a six -star rating. Superb tradesmen and nice human beings. Plus, my 1962 house, which had been looking quite shabby with its deteriorating wood shingles, now looks gorgeous. THEY ARE THE BEST!! --Janet B read more

After our most recent wind storm, there was major damage to our home. We needed an entire new roof. I spent a day getting estimates from multiple reputable roofing companies. Austin Carter with Carter roofing and exteriors was the perfect fit for our roofing project. Austin was knowledgeable and informative. We made our decision go with Carter roofing right then and there. Our roofing job started 3 days later and was completed in 1-1/2 days. His crew was amazing too. They even replaced damaged siding. A roofer recommended Carter Exteriors to us because our roof is so large. We get plenty of estimates because of the cost for such a large roof (45 square). Their price was competitive but being recommended by another roofer spoke volumes! Our roof was a tear off. Brad was our project manager and Igor with his crew did the job. Communication with Brad has been excellent! Igor and his crew went above and beyond to do a meticulous job. Their work looks great! Quality craftsmanship from start to finish! As of today, not only have they put a new roof on our house but covered all of the fascia, made vents on the soffits and installed new vinyl soffits. I can't say enough good about Carter Exteriors. This has been the most stress free job ever! Brad helped us with our insurance company so that a large portion of the bill was paid by insurance. He was here when the adjuster came and contacted them for supplemental during the job. At the end of the job, the guys cleaned up our yard and there was barely a trace they were there. They did leave a big impression as hard working guys striving to do a quality job. read more

I was deciding between three roofing companies and I hired Carter Exteriors because the owner called me and assured me that I would get the best work because his name is on the company and he stands behind every job. Well that was certainly a lie. They installed my roof this past February. I paid for the roof, new gutters and leaf filters. They never Installed the leaf filters but took payment saying that the gutter company was separate and would take care of the rest of the job. Foolishly, I took them at their word. It is June, I still don't have leaf filters, there are two holes in my siding where it broke during the roof install (their general manager assured me they would return to fix that) and Austin Carter refuses to return my calls. I am going to have to contact a lawyer to get what I paid for. Obviously Austin is not a man of his word and cannot be trusted to uphold a written contract. read more
