This is a fairly decent sizes Carter's location with a good selection and a fitting room with changing table (score!) There is also a table with small chairs and puzzles in the center for keeping little ones occupied. Alas, when I visited today, the store employees were neither friendly nor helpful to my children and me. It's almost like they could barely tolerate our presence. Did we smell? I think not, but you would have surely thought so given their cold manner. read more

I had decided to visit my local Carters after hearing so much about it. I usually shop at The Children's Place, however I decided to give it a shot. Beaming with excitement of the thought of new clothes my two daughters could not sit in the car any longer. Immediately walking into the store I felt an overwhelming blanket of claustrophobia as the clothes seemed to be stacked miles high and all over the place. While putting clothes neatly back, as I respect the hard work of a sales Associate, I was given rude smirks as they must of thought my incredible folding skills were so good I could steal their job. Nonetheless I kept on as my goal to make my daughters happy was not yet fulfilled. Even though I don't take the time to remember the workers, there was one who stood out in particular. She had silver blonde hair, was kinda short and pretty loud. She yelled at my kids multiple times, and even went so far as to what seemed as though talking behind my back. At the end of the day I did not like any of the clothes, none of them fit, and the service was down right disgusting -- literally (there were bugs in the changing rooms). So I will continue to shop at The Children's Place as the service and clothing is of much higher quality. read more

It's too bad when a challenging transaction equals a terrible experience. When an online purchase is returned, the sales person was not only irritable, she was simply not kind. Though the transaction was completed and the refund was made accurately, no kindness was offered or congeniality. This makes for a disappointing visit and discourages any return visits. read more

I was in Geneva, IL Carters, store # 00769, this afternoon (April 2, 16) with my friend and our 2.5year olds. It was a very windy day, gusts up to 50mph and when the doors opened the front signs were blowing, some were loose from the plastic strips holding them from the wind. Ours kids ran past a sign and it fell, one of your employees (short, husky, blonde) got a rude tone with our kids telling them they are not to be playing with the signs and gave us a bad look. First of all, its our position as parents to address them (which we did), NOT an employees place to do that. I was not happy with her rude tone or attitude as it was but we continued shopping. Second, its a CHILDRENS store, theres not precious China everywhere so I should be able to shop comfortably with my toddler. About 90% of my sons wardrobe is Carters and I wasn't going to let an inappropriate employee keep me from shopping. I continued shopping. I was observing the employee helping other customers and she had a "put-out" attitude, as if the busyness of the store this afternoon was bothering her. I continued to observe her and the other lady (Karen, site manager) go on about the sign that fell and how they need to rehang it. Then they were standing close together talking and I heard the blonde say to Karen, "these parents bring these undisciplined children in this store and let them run around...". She saw me looking at her, quit talking and they dispersed. It took everything I had to not put my items down and walk out! I calmly stopped shopping, collected my items, went up to pay and asked Karen (my cashier) who the manager was. She said she was and also the other lady (blonde hair) was. I let her know I witnessed what they said about us as paying customers and I don't appreciate the unprofessionalism. They both denied they were talking a out us. The blonde eventually turned around and said she wasn't talking about us she was talking about another incident earlier that day. First, I don't believe that for a minute. Conveniently right after the sign fell and she made a big deal about it I observe her inappropriately talking customers (us). Second, EVEN IF it was about another family, they are still customers supporting Carter's, helping pay HER paycheck. If she doesn't like children, she shouldn't be working in a CHILDRENS store. I let them know I would be contacting corporate about the situation and left. My son has an anxiety disorder and being in busy public places make him anxious and has difficulty processing direction and control. Short trips into kid friendly stores are supposed to help him. Situations like this not only hinder him & his treatment but disrespect me. Just "disciplining your children" is different for everyone, your employees need to think before they speak, target discrimination and parent shame. I would appreciate at the very least that upper management has a serious discussion with her and evaluate if she is a good fit for a children's store. read more

After not shopping for awhile in the Geneva Carters store on Randall Rd. because of the way I was treated in the past, I decided to give it another chance. The 2 blonde managers are never friendly and never say hello. They act put out when you ask them a question. I spend hundreds of dollars a year on Carter's clothes for my grandchildren. I had to return a bunch of clothes and reorder because they were the wrong size. I felt like I was bothering them to exchange the clothes that I had purchased online so I could still get the sale prices. I understand that they are busy, but they almost act like they have a genuine dislike of me.I will not be shopping Carters anymore. I live close to 2 other well known children's clothes stores that I will frequent. read more

I am very glad that this location is closing. The people that work in this store should not be working around any age individual. I was there to buy some items for my friend's newborn. I was checking out and Terra, the associate at the counter, was extremely rude. She asked me who did my hair, I have dreadlocks and I am Caucasian. Before, I could answer, she stared at me with a hateful look, and told me that her grandfather had them and he was Jamaican. I explained to her that mine are for spiritual reasons, and that my friend does my hair. She looked at me and told me that "she did not like my response." Then she told me that " she was in law enforcement," which I have no clue why that was uttered... Then she told me that her manager, had WARNED her about me before. I responded by saying that this was 2nd time in this store, in my entire life. The last time I was in there, the only people working Terra, and young lady, were behind the counter, not interacting with customers, on their cell phones. She rang me up, and did not even tell me to have a nice day. She lied about me, and embarrassed me with her harsh tone in front of other customers. I looked at her and told her that she was a very mean spirited human being, and told her that I would calling her manager. She yelled as I was walking out of the store, in front of other customers, "Good call my manager, her name is Karen!" Instead I called the Carter's cooperate office, in tears. They were appalled at what I had experienced. I am actually going to do a follow up call with them, and possibly seek litigation, for being discriminated against and publically humiliated, by a person, that did not like my response, to a question that they never wanted an answer for in the first place. read more
