Purchased a pair of Anne Klein sandals. Wore them around the house to try them out and then wore them to church this am. The shoes gave me blisters on both feet as I wore them for the first time. Buyers beware, DSW will not stand behind their products and only gave me an Instore credit. Make me want to shop other retailers that stand behind the shoes that they sell. DSW could tell from my purchase that the shoes were only weeks old and that there was little wear on the soles, just smudged from walking through a parking lot. I visited this store to grab a pair of shoes at around 1pm on a Sunday afternoon. As soon as I walked in I noticed that it was super dark in the store. I walked about 20 feet inside the store and noticed a very loud buzz coming from all of the lights. I kept walking through the store. I couldn't tell if they didn't have any shoes I wanted or if I just couldn't see because it was so dark in there. I'm 27 with 20/15 vision. I had tremendous trouble seeing in the store. This DSW location practices the consumer definition of "Bait and Switch" and/or "False Advertising". I say "consumer definition" because I'm sure by the letter of the law they did nothing wrong. I should have read the fine print. But come on. My wife seems to love this place and so she passed me a coupon. I believe she received it in the mail last week. Needing shoes, I figured I'd venture out (COVID had me doing most of my shopping online, but shoes need to be tried on). I get to the register and notice the coupon says "Valid May 6 - June 13" and of course today is April 29. Thanks for sending my wife an invalid coupon! So I ask if the manager could do an override and give me my promised $20 off my $110 Brooks running shoes. Nope. Oh, and it doesn't matter, since that coupon isn't good for Brooks anyhow. So I was 0-2. I told them I would never return as a customer if they did not make this right. They did not seem to care at all. Well, this is not how business should be done. Shame on DSW. Again, by the letter of the law I'm sure they are correct, but all they've done is frustrated and lost a customer. Why do we need brick and mortar stores? For personalized experiences... stuff like trying on shoes. But if the personalized experience is to trick consumers into coming into the store and then frustrating them, well, then they will not survive. I use to shop for shoes at DSW Geneva Illinois for over 10 years . No anymore. October 13 I purchase a pair of shoes that I paid $95.00 , I went back next day to return them or exchange,and the manager (Deanna) told me NO , The worst management, the worst attitude . Never shop at DSW !!! Customer service department . I finally got a call yesterday from DSW headquarters Ohio . Thank you so much Diana ! I accepted the apology , and I looked forward to receive my money . A big fan of this one... sorry, MN... IL just has a way better selection and far more outgoing people when it comes to conversing with "strangers". Walked in expecting not to find what I was looking for, but quickly found not 1, but 2 pairs of new shoes. 1 pair of flats and 1 pair of heels. Had a heck of a time trying to find the right heel that was closed toe. There were a ton of cute sandals and a whole section of Bandolino. Love their shoes! Lot of great bags and shoes. The girl on the floor was helpful. I was originally looking for a pair of sling backs, but apparently they quit stocking those in the summer and stock more sandal. Sucks for me due to the closed toe policy at work, but I found another pair of cute heels. Check out gal was pretty outgoing. I just tried to return a pair of sneakers I bought for my son but the store employees said they showed signs of wear even though my son never wore them. They would not take them back. I'm not a real power shopper when it comes to shoes, but DSW seems to me like it's more hype than reality. Aisle after aisle of shoes, but most of them are somewhere around10% - 15% off list price (at least that's what I assume they mean when they say "Compare at..."). Now, that may be great when it comes to what the women wear on "Sex and the City", but for the more "pedestrian" (pun intended) brands, like New Balance and Rockports, that's not much of a discount. You're just as well off waiting for the Sunday offers from Sports Authority or Kohl's... And everywhere else they have better return policies... read more

I went in on 2/25/18, looking for some shoes. I found the shoes I wanted but not in the size I needed, so it took me 15 minutes to find someone to help and see if they had any in a different spot. I was told what you see is what you get. Then when I found a different pair of shoes, I went to the cashier and had a coupon on my email for $10 off. The coupon had my name and member number on it, the cashier said in there system I was not in there and the member number was for someone else.......How did I get the email then??????? I generally do not care for DSW. I feel that they don't really have that great of a selection and the prices are nothing to write home about. I've bough a couple pairs of shoes here but I generally shop either department store or specialty store just because I don't really care for the whole warehouse feel either. Went into this location the day after Christmas to return a gift (69.99). Walked straight to customer service with the item and the invoice. The cashier greeted me and asked how she could be of service. Handed her the receipt and the shoes and told her I would like to get a different pair. She began the process of scanning the receipt etc. to put the return through the system. She then told me that because the purchase was made online that the money would go back on the credit card it was paid for with, without asking if that was okay. I explained to her this was a gift (thus not my credit card) and that I would rather take store credit and purchase a different pair (there was also a young girl working with the other cashier right next to me who brought something back with NO receipt whatsoever and got store credit with no hassle whatever). The cashier then told me it had already automatically gone through and she would call her manager up ( I would like to note that the girl working the register was polite even though she knew she had made a mistake. ) At this point I had already been waiting about 10 minutes while a line was forming in checkout lane. The manager, her name is Cindy, then arrived at the register and proceeded to ask what the issue was. The cashier explained this to her and asked her if it would work by calling the corporate office which Cindy said "probably will but will take a while..." Looking at me with an attitude almost like that was an issue and she didn't have the time for it. She also asked me who bought the gift for me multiple times, and if I could get in touch with them and just have them give me the money, after I already told her I was not able to do that due to them not being someone I see a lot and who I would rather not know I was returning their gift. I told her that i didn't mind if it took some time and asked if I could look around while they dealt with the issue, of which she said was okay. At this point I started browsing the store and found a couple different pairs of shoes I would have bought and was trying them on for size when the manager approached me in the aisle. She told me that because the cashier messed up there was nothing she could do about it and I had to call the person and have them refund me the money. At this point I was getting a little annoyed and told her I was not going to do that and if nothing else I would just keep the shoes. She told me that I could not have them and that she would "call 911" if I tried to take them with me. I AGAIN explained to her that I do not see the person who bought them everyday and am not going to call them and ask them for the money because I don't want them to know I was exchanging their gift and asked her what my options where. She told me I had no other course of action and that she wouldn't do anything for me. Then I told Cindy that I felt like I was being robbed and would like her name, general managers name, and would like to know when he was working next and I could contact him. She gave me his card but refused to let me know when a good time to call him would be stating he was on "paid time off" and she couldn't give me his schedule. I told her that I was going to call their corporate office then and see if they could do something to get me store credit. She was obviously not happy with me pursuing this any further and while I was on the phone with DSW corporate she decided it would be a good idea to call the family member who bought me the gift and ask them if they would just give me the money, even though I told her multiple times I did not want them to know I was returning the shoes they bought for me. About 5 minutes into my phone call with corporate that same family member called me and told me that Cindy had called them and asked them to call me telling them that I was "getting upset and causing a scene", obviously making me look like I was crazy not only to the family member but to the 15 or so customers in the store waiting to checkout. After this I was so upset that I left the store and filed a complaint with the corporate office and told them that I would not shop at this location again and would advise friends and family (this was in my hometown) that they shouldn't either. In the end the corporate customer service offered me 10$ off my next purchase, but that was all they said they could do. If you are planning on visiting or buying from this location I highly suggest that you do not get anything you or whoever your buying for may return and if you do have to make a return make sure that they know how you would like your refund before you give them anything, as I am without anything to show for the $70 dollar pair of shoes they took from me and would not wish this terrible customer service from the manager upon anyone else. read more

I have start by saying I love DSW and that I really want to give them better than 3.5. However their customer service isn't always the best here. I've been shopping here for years and some of their shoes have sensor tags on them (just like the ones you find on clothes). My issue is since not all of them have one, EVERY TIME I've bought a pair with one I say to the clerk, "please make sure to remove the sensor tag". Too many times its been left on. They're always polite and say, "of course" but never do! This last time, I forgot to double check them. I got all the way home and sure enough the sensor tag was still there. Of course, I had planned on wearing them out that night but couldn't. I then returned a week later to have the sensor tag removed. I told the clerk the issue and she actually started laughing and said that's hysterical. It really wasn't hysterical to me! She didn't once apologize for the inconvenience or anything. read more

I've always been a fan of the Geneva store due to their great selection and the customer service. They're always willing to order anything they don't have in stock. My recent visit, though, blew me off my feet! Not only did the associate help me pick out the color of the shoes, she also made sure that I start receiving my coupons again.
