I ordered a tea and she was patient with me as I searched the menu and asked for a flavor and milk. I then ordered a cupcake for my husband and I. I had my toddler with me and the staff were sweet to him which is always so nice. Now let's talk the goodies. The cupcakes were wonderful! A key description my husband and I both agreed on was they were moist. And the flavor was delicious, it hits you as soon as you take that first bite. I got the strawberry cupcake and a chocolate peanut butter cupcake. Perfection. I made the mistake of letting my toddler have a little bite and he turned into a crazy eyed wild one wanting more. My only reason for not giving them 5 stars is the customer service--I wouldn't say they are rude but definitely not the "small town" feel they advertise. It hasn't just been on one occasion-- they are not friendly at all! This may not be important to some people but it is to us when we are frequent customers. When I went to pick them up, I was told they were $1.50 each and they didn't have time to change the website. On top of that, the person who made the announcement was rude about it. The best bakery with great customer service around!! I called what I would consider last minute to order 30 red velvet cup cakes, 3 days before pickup. It was handled with NO PROBLEM. I just did a taste test and boy howdy was it good!! Another extra plus, they had an option to package each one individually, which is great during these times. I've ordered 3 birthday cakes at different times and 2 out of the 3 orders were messed up. I'm trying to be balanced in this review over the different experiences we've had; however, the latest treatment by the owners wife was absolutely appalling--see #3. Be careful with any special order, call and explain very carefully what you want and have them explain it back. Be sure to order in advance in case you have to get anything fixed or have to adjust to plan B. 1) 1 year ago: The first was ordered online for my granddaughters birthday and it was forgotten and not made. Props to Mr Carter who was very apologetic and kind--he comped the cake and threw in some extra cupcakes to make things right. it was a stressful situation the day of the birthday party but it turned out ok in the end. 2). 3 months ago: The second cake was ordered with an edible design on top and it was beautiful and on time. My grandson loved it. 3) Today: This time, I ordered a birthday cake online last weekend and sent in the image to go on top, called to confirm the order was received along with the image the first of the week and once again it was incorrect when my husband picked it up. He sent me a picture after getting home. I left work and picked up the cake traveling 45 minutes to get back to the bakery after calling and being assured it would be made right. I had to come back the next day...today....the day of the party to pick up the cake only to be met by a very unfriendly owners wife who proceeded to try and charge me extra for the edible picture on top which they had to fix. No apologies, accusations and hostile tone thrown my way as I'm trying to calmly explain that I've now made three trips to the bakery to get the cake right as ordered. I was appalled to be talked to and treated as I was with other people in the store, and as a customer who had tried to support their local bakery. We will not be ordering any more cakes. If it had been me, I would have apologized, thanked the customer for their understanding and offered something in goodwill for the trouble as an encouragement to return. At the very least I would never have tried to charge them extra!!!!! read more
