On the Saturday of Easter weekend, the tenant in my rental house told me the water heater had flooded the basement. I called Cary Plumbing. The guy on the phone told me a new one would cost $1900. I thought that a good bit high but maybe water heater prices had gone up, and it was a holiday weekend, so I said okay. When the technician came he told me it would be the $1900 for the heater itself plus another $400 or so for his labor, and that if I didn't do it that day, who knows when it could be scheduled on a normal workday. By then I was frustrated and didn't want the tenants without hot water for a week or so while I haggled over money. I told him to go ahead. After paying $2600, including tax, I noticed in Lowes that their water heaters still cost $700. They actually haven't gone up much. $700 plus $400 is what this should have cost. I paid roughly $1500 more than I should have. The technician left a small paper indicating I paid in full but it had no information about the water heater make or model and nothing about warranties on the heater itself or installation. I texted their office asking for those things and was ignored. Then I left a phone message and was ignored. Finally I drove to their office and was told my case has not been processed and they'll send me everything when it is. I'm still waiting. After the company received our legitimate complaints, we were dismissed as an "erroneous claim" , and even told everything "was installed back like it was originally when the house was built ". This would be impossible since it was a 2500 sf addition, hence new construction. I am a licensed general contractor and do have some basic knowledge about construction. We have had them come out twice to unclog our sewer service line and their prices were good. Both times, they have been great to deal with getting things scheduled quickly and good communication. The first time they unclogged it it stayed cleared a few months. A few days before the recent snow storm, our sewer line re-clogged, which was only around five days after they snaked it. Their advice was to get the town to repair the line because the clog was happening on the easement. They did not seem to be aware of the Cary plumbing code rule that the town will not maintain a sewer line on an easement unless there is a cleanout installed on the town's right-of-way. I thought it was strange that I was more informed than them about that particular ordinance, considering they are supposed to be licensed in the subject matter. I wasted a lot of time researching town ordinances and calling the town public works out to our house multiple times, due to being incorrectly advised by Cary Plumbing that the town would unclog my sewer line if the clog was located on the easement. Even after calling and telling them that Cary Public Works inspected our easement and said they would only maintain the line with a cleanout, they were insistent that that had not been the case in the past and that they would check with their contact with the town of Cary. They never got back to me about their contact with the town, so I followed up. They still insisted the town would fix it so I had public works come out again and again public works said the same thing about the cleanout and I had to apologize to them because I was improperly advised by Cary Plumbing. Because of the wasted time, we almost had to wait until after the most recent ice storm, because it's so hard to schedule plumbers to come out to do sewer line repairs on such short notice. If we were not extremely lucky, we would not have found a plumber to come fix the line in between the snow storm and the ice storm and our sewer cleanout would have frozen and caused a lot of expensive damage because it was around 14 degrees outside at night. read more

Last week we had Cary Plumbing come out to repair a leaking toilet, faucet and replace our bidet. The technician was great and knew what he was doing. Within a hour everything was done without and issues. A week later I tried descaling a shower head the unscrewing it and soaking was easy but getting it back on required the services of someone that knew what they were doing and that wasn't me. Within a hour of calling the technician was here and the shower was ready for use. The technician even found and removed a few pebbles that the descaling didn't take care of. A neighbor alerted me to a water line leak on a Saturday evening. I first called the Town of Cary, who sent a crew that cut off the outside water and diagnosed the problem as my responsibility (leak was on my property). Then I called the Cary Plumbing emergency number. They sent Juan on Sunday morning. He was calm, reassuring, and positive that he could fix the leak. He found a pinpoint leak in the water line near the street and repaired it with Pex pipe. I had turned off the power to my water heater after learning about the leak, and asked Juan to flush my water heater to remove any sediment from the leak. He finished both jobs in about an hour and a half on a very hot morning. Instead of a repair that I thought would cost thousands, it cost just a couple of hundred dollars, including the water heater flush. I am tremendously grateful to Juan and Cary Plumbing for coming to my rescue. They have been my go-to plumbing company for years now -- and for good reason! read more

Cary Plumbing came to do some maintenance on my Rinnai tankless water heater - they flushed it out and checked the filters. They were pretty busy, so when I called to schedule an appointment, I had to book a time about 3 weeks out. But they came on time when the appointment was, and Tommy helped flush out and check my water heater. He was very friendly, and even answered some other plumbing related questions I had, since most of the maintenance process is waiting for the system to get flushed out. In all, it took less than an hour, and the pricing was reasonable. Instead of getting it maintained every year as I've seen some people recommend, Tommy let me know my system was pretty clean, and once every 2 years would be sufficient for me. Called these guys to get a second opinion about a shower faucet replacement. The first quote from a different company was over $1000 and included cutting a hole in the wall behind the shower. The plumber that came out from Cary Plumbing Company did the work for around $300 and didn't need to go in from the back. Because it really does rain when it pours: After dealing with a washing machine that needed to be replaced, followed by shopping for a new one (a task ranking right up their with root canals), dealing with delivery of the machine where the company would not install it because the hoses were effectively "welded" to the faucets, I found myself in need of a plumber. I called several companies looking for one who could un-stick the hoses and perhaps install the machine so I didn't need to make yet one more call. Of the four or five I called, one quoted me a price nearly equal to the cost of the machine (I don't think he wanted the job), two others never called back (and obviously weren't interested), but Cary Plumbing answered the call directly (not via an answering service), scheduled something for the following week, and showed up on time. And if those events weren't enough, the plumber who came ended up having to do more work than either of us expected, but still charged a fair rate and at the quoted price. Other than having to call a plumber to begin with, this was one experience that went my way. read more

Once again, we had occasion to call Cary Plumbing. Our dishwasher has stopped draining. Additionally, although I was able to successfully install a bidet in the powder room (after a much longer time than it should have taken and some cursing (I am not mechanically inclined)), I was unable to install a second bidet in the master bath. I couldn't get the water to shut off, so thought the valve was broken. Rich from CP came over this morning. Right off the bat, he advised us just to buy a new dishwasher, since the one we have is more than ten years old and the cost of repairing it would be at least half the cost of replacing it with a new one. He then checked the master bath valve and was successful in turning the water off. (Apparently, I was not forceful enough the first time around.) He showed me what he'd done and gave me lots of positive reinforcement about my ability to finish the bidet job. Woohoo! Rich also gave us some sage advice, such as (1) despite what the packaging says, my husband's Cottonnelle wipes are *not* really flushable, and (2) almost nothing but what's left on the plate after you scrape it into the garbage should go down the disposal (which my husband recently replaced). Rich was also *awesome* with our extremely annoying and energetic, young dog. The upshot: We wrote a check for a whopping $30.03. Thank you again, Rich and Cary Plumbing!! read more

WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THEM DUE TO HIDDEN , SURPRISE CHARGES, We hired Cary plumbing to replace the water heater in the attic. The service was good although the reason I am giving them a 1 star was they tacked on over $100 for a third installer to help the team bring down the old heater from the attic. Cary plus,bing has come to the house to give us the price to replace the heater so they knew that it was in the attic and the quote included removal and disposal. This was not disclosed to us at all and was simply added to the final bill when the installation was already complete so we couldn't do anything about it. I would not trust Cary plumbing as you never know what additional surprise charge they will add on to the final bill. We called the company 3 times to resolve this , even offered to pay 50% but they refused to budge. Very disappointed as we went with them based on their reviews. read more

Moved into our new home and we're having issues with the tankless water heater. We worked with another company to flush the tankless and they did an OK job, but the problem persisted. We had CPC come in, Cory had a pretty good idea of what needed to be done to resolve our issue. about 20-30 mins later, we were all set. What was even more telling, I asked about adding some more equipment to alleviate our issue and he was pretty confident that it wasn't necessary and his fix would resolve everything. Called to fix outdoor pipe leak. Technician recommended a fix that we should "try first" to see if it could handle the issue without being too disruptive. In trying to understand which was our best option, he told us that if it didn't work, we would have to try something more aggressive but that our initial payment (almost $500) would be credited to the next phase. Knowing that, we opted to try for the less aggressive fix, hope for the best, and reach back out if we had to. Turns out, it didn't fix our issue so we had to try phase two. BIG MISTAKE! They came, tore up our front yard, cut irrigation lines, damaged bushes and then charged us full price and DID NOT honor the commitment of their field tech to credit our first payment. If we had known that ahead of time, we would have tried another company? Why throw bad money after bad? After many months of trying to negotiate, we ended up paying the full price minus $100. Wow, what lack of expertise, professionalism, and customer service! Long story short, I called them to fix a leak and an odor in the bathroom. The leak only got fixed after their second visit, and the odor never got fixed even after their fourth visit, and they charged me more than double what it should have cost on their first visit. When I called them about the second invoice, I had to explain my situation three times over 2 days only to be told that if I do not pay the invoice, they will pass it along to the collection services. I have had many bad experience with plumbers, but this was by far the worst. I made the very unfortunate mistake of not removing my backflow preventer this past winter when we had a cold snap that caused the water to freeze and crack the brass. I did my due diligence in getting quotes and Cary Plumbing was in line with the median price; but the service that Paul provided was absolutely priceless. Paul not only replaced the backflow, but also replaced the PVC pipes leading to and coming from it to make sure there weren't any hairline cracks that could cause issues in the future. Currently dealing with a leak. I had my tenant call about a major exterior leak on a sunday. They called for information and a emergency plumber James showed up in a few hours, gave a diagnosis and then charged $186 for his time. I provided email and phone number and requested to hear back from someone Monday. No one called back on Monday, my tenant checked in with Ford and was told they would be contacted in a few minutes, was not given a return call. I followed up on Tuesday, was told i would here back in a few minutes. It seemed like no one was communicating with each other in the office. And no one returned call Tuesday either. Obviously restoring water to my property was my priority I don't know why this wasn't relayed or a priority to Ford on Monday. I called back Wednesday and spoke with Erica and she let me know reason for estimate delay and suggested a temporary fix that no one else had suggested. My tenant had been without water for 4 days at that point. Erica was empathetic, polite and got me a solution. She coordinated so that 2 plumbers were able to show up later that day to to a temporary fix to restore water to my property. Giving five stars, because I can't give six. I called them on short notice to reinstall a sink during a granite counter install. I had to be away on business, so my girlfriend let them in. When they got here, the hardware we had was not sufficient, so they gave my GF excellent instructions on what was needed. It meant they had to come back later. While here, we asked them to look at two other problems we had. One was not a problem at all, so they advised not to fix it, the other was a minor adjustment, which they did for no charge. THey came back for a SECOND visit to install the sink, did so beautifully, and the bill was less than quoted. GF said they were professional, timely, and very respectful. First appointment he wouldn't look at the hot water tank because he said I had turned the thermostat too high but the thermostat had not been high when the water from the condensation pipe leaked . Had a friend look at it and he said I needed a plumber, Called Cary Plumbing again and the boss gave me an appointment time .NO ONE SHOWED! Paid $110 for a piece of plastic pulled from my garbage disposal -15 minutes at the maximum during his first appointment.
