Such an underrated Indian restaurant! The service is so good & all their dishes have so much flavor. My favorites are the Buffalo mozzarella saag & fragile cashew malai kebab. The garlic naan was perfectly cooked. The cheese garlic naan was a little heavy for me but still very good. I didn't love their dessert their rasmalai was okay. Mango lassi was really creamy and rich! Overall great experience and I always recommend this place!

I visited Lazeez Modern Indian Flair and it was amazing! They provide an upscale dining experience with modern flair and it's family owned. Lazeez also means delicious, delightful or yummy and their food is true to those words! For starters we had the lentil chawal arancini and it was tasty. For entrees we had butter chicken and duck portobello masala with rice and garlic naan. All of it was soooo good! If you have not had Indian cuisine, this is your sign to broaden your palate horizons and give it a try! It's SUPER DELICIOUS!! I can't stress this enough! I loved it!

This is the newest Indian in Town decorated so beautifully ! Our waitress was so gracious and nice with a beautiful a beautiful smile! We got as an appetizer Blue cheese Rimsmi kebab oh how delicious! We also got whatever usual chicken tikka masala and then I tried something different the vindaloo which I definitely recommend we ordered it at a number three spicy which is medium possibly could've done a number four! The garlic non-was absolutely to die for.

Been wanting to try Lazeez for a few weeks now, and finally decided to give it a go last night. The restaurant is tucked away off Broad St. and near the Royal Bazaar Farmers Market and Indian Grocery. There are several other eateries near here as well. I had looked them up online and was able to make an automated reservation with Google prior to our arrival. Fortunately when we arrived, there was no wait and we were seated promptly. There are both tables and booths with plenty of seating. In fact, the center of the restaurant has sparse seating with more seats near the walls. We were seated and approached by an enthusiastic waitress who took our drink orders. I minute later, we were approached by a waiter with request to take our drink orders (again). There were several other patrons there as well. Drinks arrived shortly thereafter. We looked thoroughly through the menu which has an array of indian cuisine standards as well as not so common options including: Lobster, Lamb Shank, Duck masala, Chicken Cordon Bleu, and Cornish hen in tikka masala. We opted to start with the Fried Oysters. These were quickly served up on a dish that was decorated with spring greens, a flower, and remoulade dipping sauce. The oysters were crispy, tasty, and well prepared. For the meal we ordered the Lamb Seekh Kebab, Poussin Tikka Masala (cornish hen), and Duck Portobello Masala. We also ordered a couple Naan (traditional bread) as well. A few minutes later our kebabs were served. These were 4 kebab pieces arranged nicely on a plate with a zesty green chutney sauce and artfully constructed garnish of greens and a flower. Each piece had a mild spiciness and was perfectly rendered and juicy. They certainly make a great appetizer for 2. Soon thereafter, our duck and cornish hen arrived. The duck (breasts) was nicely prepared with two nicely sized pieces in a colorful masala sauce with mushrooms. The flavor was nicely complex without being overbearing. The cornish hen was divided into pieces which still retained pieces of bone, so that required a bit of careful eating. The rice was superbly done and perfectly separated with traditional peas and ghee. The naan was exquisitely prepared, fluffy, with a perfect balance of crispiness and ghee. Unfortunately, our plates were ice cold and so the temperature of the food quickly dissipated to a luke-warm. Still, the flavors were good. We finished off the meal with the Gulab Jamun Parfait (sweet fried balls of semolina with whipped cream and nuts. It was quite good and certainly perfect for sharing. There was plenty of leftovers, so we packed those up to take home. All-in-all, the experience at Lazeez was a nice one. The restaurant appears clean and staff is certainly enthusiastic. Our waitress was attentive, and happy to make any suggestions if necessary. However, when we received the check, the prices were a bit different. On each item, there appeared to be exactly an additional 3% added. I searched the menu, and there was indeed a small note about this upcharge. However, if you paid cash, there would be no upcharge. Perhaps the only complaint I have is the dinner and appetizer plates being ice-cold. It would make a huge difference if the dinner plates (at least) were warmed up. This is quite traditional among most Indian restaurants I've dined at over the years. Also, having an upcharge seems petty. If you need to charge a bit more, then do that rather than making customers pay the processing fee to use their debit and credit cards. Just a thought. Despite the latter, I would definitely recommend Lazeez to both Indian food lovers and those seeking a culinary adventure!

One of the best Indian restaurant In Virginia. Great ambience , service top of the line. Manni pa is amazing - one of the best host who is very enthusiastic to serve and also meet your taste for food. Food was one of the best I ate after long time. Just don't have words as food was authentic, paneer sarson, paneer mirch masala and paratha (bread) was top of the world with butter (lite makkhan) - just try - wow- this restaurant reminded me of proper india food.

    Chaat

This place is huge inside! Also quite a nice darker vibe, with sweet staff Now food wise - loved the chaat! Interesting blend of flavors, good quantity - definitely recommend! For our meal, we ordered the duck tikka masala. I was OK on this dish while my boyfriend loved it, especially the next day for leftovers. Be warned, the meat will look very small compared to the gravy, but it was still decently filling! We had leftovers after splitting the chaat and 1 entree w/ naan. Their menu is quite unique with hen, duck, lamb roast - I would like to come back and try something else as you don't see this dishes at most Indian restaurants!

    Malai kebab
    Nitisha K.

My husband and I went for lunch on a Saturday afternoon. Loved the flavor of chilli garlic potstickers - i got it medium but for next time I'd get one spice level up. Loved the tomato soup. Malai kebab : chicken was very tender and cooked perfectly. The sauce was subtle and sweet. Absolutely loved the paneer mirch masala that was our favorite dish of our meal. It has very authentic Indian flavors and not creamy at all. The dal felt like a warm hug :) Dal is the ultimate comfort food for me. Will definitely be back.

Wonderful service and fantastic new drink and food menu. Bartender had me try a green chili martini that was spicy and wonderful.

    Fragile Cashew Malia kebab
    Sara M.

I came in about a week after opening and had a great experience. I tried the Fragile Cashew Malai Kebab which was really creamy. But the star was their Chicken Tikka Masala. I got it medium heat and it was delicious! Husband liked his goat rasila too! We also tried their garlic naan and butter naan and that butter naan was to die for!!!

Fancy decor but food is not very good. Not sure why the high ratings. Sauces are watery, meat is fatty, and Naan tasted stale.

Incremental updates like refreshing the flatware, tweaking small things in the decor, and continuing to deliver the outstanding service we have come to expect go a long way. I tried the Mango Chicken this visit, and it was wonderful at spice level 3 for me. I like a kick, and the sweet flavor was paired exquisitely. We always leave with leftovers because we want to indulge ourselves again the next day; it never disappoints. I have heard people say they don't like Indian food, which I don't understand. I have extreme difficulty finding a lovelier culinary experience than Jannat, which is wild because RVA provides some of the most enticing restaurant choices I've ever had access to.

Guests can choose their preferred protein, sauce, and spice level, as well as enjoy a selection of beer, wine, and Indian Sula wines. We visited during lunchtime and partook of their lunch specials, featuring generous portions and a decent variety. I enjoyed Goat Vindaloo while wife was milder with Seafood Korma. I asked for spicy and received their level 5 (1-5). It was good, flavors and seasoning were excellent, but for truly spicy you need to ask for "True Indian Level" they are used to a bunch of Americans with tender palates! The staff is friendly and helpful with recommendations, and although the place was busy, we never felt rushed. The restaurant's clean and inviting environment adds to the positive experience. We saw a few dishes that others had ordered from the regular menu, and they looked ample and generous. So, although it seems a little pricey, it is not a bad value.

My esteemed husband lived in the RVA about 7-10 years ago, he and his family swear by their biryani. My husband is a born and raised native of Mumbai, India who attended Cooking and Hotel Management School. Needless to say, he loves to cook and is picky about his food. He makes a fabulous biryani himself, which he is always trying to perfect. He absolutely adores and loves the food at Kabab House. The flavor is incredible, it is rich in delicious seasonings. The price is totally worth the value and the best part of all, the portions are huge. I'd say this place is a hidden gem of the RVA, if you love tasty Indian Food this is the place for you.

I regularly buy food from all the Desi restaurants in this area. I buy here for change and order Beef Biryani once in a while. Last time, a few weeks ago, I bought Beef Biryani to go. At home, when I tried to eat the Biryani, the meat was hard like charcoal. I was very polite, called them and I told them, I did not ask for any refund, but what I asked that lady to let me know which day they will cook fresh biryani, so if i wanted to buy biryani i will come on that day, usually butcher shop, fresh produce grocery shop they have certain days of the week where they get fresh produce, meat etc. But that lady was very arrogant, as if they were the only people cooking biryani in this world, and she said it depends on cook, meat might have been cooked 2 or 5 or 7 days no certain time frame, then i asked her that is Ok at least tell me while ordering so I will decide if i wanted to buy or pass on to next time. I am the one who was supposed to be upset, but she was very arrogant; I don't need to talk about Biryani, as she has the copyright for Biryani and said she will not know, only the chef knows ever after I politely asked to verify with the chef and tell me, she was angry. I made a mistake; I should have taken the biryani with the meat and reported to the county health inspectors. They should raid this restaurant, issue a citation, and shut it down. This type of attitude is not going to help. You can see relatively new Desi Bites, Market Cafe, and many other Indian restaurants, mostly crowded and Al-Medinah Restaurant is mostly empty, which speaks volumes
