The positive experience went awry when I was approached by the rude caretaker. Walking into the park I searched for a sign that might say "No dogs" before walking in with my dog. I had been in the park for 4 minutes before I was approached by the premise caretaker. He motioned me to walk over to him rudely, and asked "did you see the sign on the door?" I let him know I had walked in from separate entrance he was pointing towards. Again he said, "did you see the sign on the door?" Just as rudely as the first time. I let him know that I didn't see the sign, to which he responds, "No. No dogs allowed. Please take out." While he said please, his tone and demeanor were very rude. I would understand not allowing dogs into the historical home but it's unfortunate that dogs would not be allowed in the grass area. read more

Tucked away in a residential neighborhood, it's a great location to hold a local birthday party or casual meetup. + There's a large shady area filled with picnic tables. (and I've even seen people set up a bounce house there). + Wonderful space and vegetation for plein air artists. If this YELP page were just for the park area, 4 stars, but if you're planning to travel here for historic/education reasons, 2 stars. This is really a hidden gem. I stopped here randomly the other day when I was looking for a rather empty park to just kinda sit at and destress, maybe even reflect a little bit. There was only one other family here when I visited. They had an infant with them and it looked like they were maybe going to do a little family photo shoot with just their iPhones. Parking is easy here. There is a small lot but there is also street parking in this quaint little residential area. There isn't space to kick a soccer ball around or any of that. I feel like this is a miniature size Huntington library type of park. I liked that. There weren't a ton of kids playing around and not so much noise. This is perfect for a little stroll. It's crazy that this is in the middle of Glendale, a busy city. And yet, it doesn't seem like too many people visit this little gem. This might just become the park that I decide to host my lil one's upcoming bday party at. We shall see. Beautiful. read more

This location is beautiful. The lawns are clean and green during the summer. I decorated their outdoor pergola for a birthday party. I was pleased to know I could use any type of materials to hang drapes and decorate their brick columns any way I wanted. The outdoor fireplace made it even gave the English style theme we were going for. The park allowed for a more private party be held in the hacienda's patio. There are a number of historic adobes and rancho-era buildings scattered around the southland; unless you're a native or longtime resident of Glendale you may have missed this one. This is an utterly charming and peaceful city park contained within an old brick wall draped with bougainvillea and ringed with mature trees. There are some picnic tables under an arbor and a small, well-kept lawn. There's also a huge old brick barbecue on site but no fires are permitted for cooking. The home remains a pleasant thing to look at for the most part since it's almost always closed. Docent-led tours are scheduled on Sundays in July and August, 1-3 p.m., and the first Sunday of the month the rest of the year. If you peek in the windows you can see they've approximated the furnishings and household items of the period. I happen to like wandering these old buildings and wondering about the people who used to live there, and hoping for some signs of ghosts. For most people it will probably seem a little dry - nice park to take little kids to, though. Borrowing from the city website's info: "Casa Adobe de San Rafael is registered as California Landmark #235. The casa is believed to have been built in 1865 by Tomas Sanchez, and has a New England style of architecture. In 1875, the property was sold, left abandoned, and fell into a ruinous state. In 1930 the Casa was purchased by the California Medicinal Wine Company who planned to tear down the structure and to remove the large eucalyptus trees on the property. Local neighbors and community members stopped the demolition and began a campaign to preserve the house as a historic landmark. The City of Glendale purchased the adobe in 1930, and by 1932 La Casa de Adobe de San Rafael was completely refurbished. Today, the adobe includes a Monterey-style corridor (covered porch), beautiful sunken garden, brick patio, gray shake roof, and long narrow front windows adorned with green shutters. Interior furnishings are from the 19th century." This is one of those hidden gems, and yes, it would make a great venue for a private party. A wonderful location for a film. A great place to read, walk, contemplate the universe, refine your purpose. It's a peaceful oasis and unlike the Huntington, it's rarely crowded. You can hear yourself think, and when the wisteria is in bloom, your spirit will rejoice. The docents are friendly, gardens are well-maintained and plenty of parking. read more

Don't get me wrong, the park is absolutely gorgeous. But the gentleman who was extremely rude to us while we were exiting made our experience awful. We just moved to this neighborhood and have been walking around to find some new places to hangout, we saw this cute park and decided to walk in. As we were leaving, the man was standing there at the gate and rudely told us to "read the no dog sign" even though it was barely visible to any public eye. We had never been in the neighborhood before, and explained that, but instead of being kind about it, he decided to be rude, mean, and told us he'll ticket us next time. For anybody walking their dog around that area, just make sure to stay out of the park, he'll be watching apparently. read more

These two very friendly ladies will give you tours of this old relic of a house in the middle of Glendale they are real friendly and the atmosphere is nice and relaxing if you need to get away from the city within the city LOL read more

Great venue for a private party... it has plenty of space for a large crowd and very clean with their own restrooms.

This hidden gem just south of Kenneth Rd is one of my favorite places to go and get away from the city for a second. Little kids running around grandfathers playing backgammon high school kids smoking cigarettes until they can't see. It's my definition of a cross-section of society. I myself lay back and practice yoga poses and sing to the birds and dream of the stars. It's quite the place as long as you can erase the sound of Honda Civic and Acura Engines reving in the parking lot. read more

It's a really cute park, I used to go here a lot. It's a quiet environment usually. I'm sure the old grandpas still go there and sit and chill like they used to. The areas pretty clean and beautiful with tables and if I remember correctly bbq grills too. Case Adobe is beautiful and a nice place for impromptu photoshoots or to just hang out with friends. read more

Beautiful large garden in the City to relax and have a reunion.

I used this place for my son's birthday this past April and it turned out great! The only thing was it had rained the night before and I don't know if its bags or tarps or something they have on the top of seating area but because they were filled with water, it started to spill from the sides. Other than that, it was a nice day and sunny so everything worked out fine. It is a beautiful park but make sure to reserve it way in advance as it fills up really fast. We wanted to do his bday here last year but there was nothing available. Would use it again read more
