What an amazing menu they have at Casa Agave. This is not your typical Mexican restaurant. My wife started with the February special drink, the strawberry froze'. She loved it and it looked great. She then had the shrimp tacos, also a hit. I went with the Chicken mole' verde. It was excellent! I'd never had a green mole', but I highly recommend it. The tomatillo and undertones of chocolate in the mole' was fantastic. Our waiter, Santos was one of the best waiters we've had in a long time! I had a great dinner! We went on a Saturday night and was instantly sat! So that was great. Our waitress was so friendly and very attentive They have a great cocktail menu with options for everyone! I got the coco loco and would give that a solid 8/10, we then got the chips and queso appetizer and unfortunately this was really bland, the chips tasted like fritos and the cheese was pretty bland. But the tacos were AMAZING, we got the carne asada tacos and they were amazing, I could have eaten 10 of them! I will definitely be coming back! read more

My wife and I had lunch here during the Peoria vegan challenge. We had the Tacos de Papa and Ceviche de Coliflor. Both good, I preferred the Ceviche. Excellent lentil soup. My wife loved everything. My wife and I visit Peoria once a year and we're happy try Casa Agave. We appreciate the friendly service and the high-quality ingredients they use in the food. The restaurant decorations are also well thought out. We were well taken care of by Jesus at the bar. My wife had red wine, and I asked Jesus if he could make me a jalapeno and mezcal margarita. He muddled fresh jalapenos, and it turned out perfect! Fresh squeezed limes and fresh jalapeños are the key ingredients. My wife and I shared some appetizers and ordered separate entrees. We both liked the creamy guacamole and she really liked that they use white meat in the flautas. The short rib mole was nice to see on the menu. It is tender and not spicy. What a great addition to Peoria Heights! We enjoyed a lovely evening outside. The guacamole was yummy -- the tortilla chips only so so. The drinks were creative and delish! My only complaint is that they're not mixed fresh so you can't sub the ingredients. I had the octopus. It was good but could have used a bit more seasoning. If you're looking for recommendations, the flautas are a must-start appetizer: crispy, flavorful, and impossible to share evenly because everyone wants more. The tacos al pastor are always a win. And don't skip the queso fundido... it's perfection. Their cocktails are handcrafted and absolutely top-tier. The Verde is my personal favorite because it's SO refreshing. The service is another standout. Martin is an incredible server who always makes the experience smooth and enjoyable, and Natalie behind the bar is amazing -- friendly, fast, and insanely talented with cocktails. I recently stopped in to try their new menu items and I have one piece of advice: do NOT ...I repeat, do NOT leave without ordering the new molten lava cake. I'm still thinking about it. This place needs a new chef to last on the heights. We were all hoping this was going to be like Noir was on the heights, sadly not. Not sure what the hype is. It's expensive so I assume people feel like it's fancy. My rule is that if a Mexican restaurant doesn't serve complimentary salsa, it better be REALLY good. This place is just okay. The menu is small. Some dishes are pretty good and others are just mediocre. They charge extra for everything. Not even a side of rice or beans is included with your meal. The cocktails/margaritas are also hit or miss. The menu says all cocktails are $13, but then they charge you different prices for different cocktails when your bill comes. I expect much better for the high price point. I can get better cheap Mexican elsewhere. I won't be back. read more
