They have a lot of records, 95% of which are latin: mostly salsa with a lot of Fania, a lot of boleros and slower Latin music, and some English here and there. They have a lot of repeats as well. I went into this store on a short visit to NY, but will make it obligatory to stop by every time I'm in town from now on. Also spoke with the guy working the store the whole time and he provided great service.

It seems they're using the newer store model that does away with the actual movie sections. The focus is clearly on pop culture merchandise with tons of collectibles, unique snacks, and of course apparel. There are, however, some Blu-ray's depending on the seasonal displays set up in the store. But the main demographic for this location is definitely collectors. With it being the newest location to pop up in the state, they've got fresh inventory so it's great to find things that have been harder to find in other FYE's or other stores in general. Grandma is now retired but she opened the store over 20 years ago. Everything they have in this small shop is thoughtful and great for kids. We ended up buying a kite for a kid's birthday. They have small kites and very large complex kites ranging from $15 to $50. They have a nice assortment of books with diverse protagonists. I almost picked up the Spanish version of Junot Diaz's Lola but I resisted. My two year old would probably need to get a little older before being able to appreciate that book. They also have board books and even an embroidered first Bible. Their puppets in the store are fun. Grandma is proud that she got the puppet maker to include legs so they could be used as puppets or dolls. We left with our kite wrapped and a hand made 3D birthday card. What a wonderful store. Now I can't wait for the next kid birthday so I can come back!

Buying and Selling at Book Off What a cool store. So much to…read moresee. Unfortunately, it is lousy to sell at and expensive to buy at. First, Selling. I brought in three statue items unopened in the original packaging. I checked on ebay for what the items sold for (not asking price but sold price) and it added up to about $600, I lugged the items over there and had to leave them there because they wouldn't get to them right away. The people/kids working there were very nice. I went to have lunch and got the text to return, and they are offering $150. So I picked up the items and turned down the offer. Again, they were very nice, it's just I wasn't willing to accept 25% of the value. I figured at worst it would be 50%. But I am better off getting closer to the actual price on ebay. Now, Buying. Lots of very expensive and exiting things to get, and I didn't have time to price check things so much, but my son is into the Nintendo switch and i spotted a used Marvel VS Capcom game he might like. It was $34.95. But just in case, I pulled up Amazon and looked the game up. A brand new one costs $21.79. So it would have been a terrible idea for me to buy it there. I guess if you are leaving work and need a quick gift, you might stop in and pay too much for an item. If you are in real trouble and don't have time to wait for an Ebay sale, you might consider selling your collectables for 25% the value, this place might come in handy.

I'm familiar with Record Stop, I go to a vinyl night every two weeks with members of a facebook group called 8 o'clock shot and the guy who spins records Tom sort of represents record stop. I had been here once in the summer but didn't really get a chance to properly look around. I love records but I only have one. I'm trying my hardest to not collect much because currently I live in a small space and when my son and I can move out of my father's house we'll still be living in a small space. It was still nice to browse the records for sale. They also have other music related merchandise besides records. Tons of musical action figures, a small selection of books, T-shirts, patches. I bought my boyfriend a Kiss Flask for his birthday. His birthday isn't until August but sometimes you see something early and you just need to grab it. I'll also be buying him more than just a flask but for now it's a good start on a birthday that's still a few months away. And I was happy to purchase something to give record stop some business. The flask was also a pretty decent price giving me more budget room to buy other things. If you're around Patchogue and you're a music lover or a vinyl lover record stop is the place to go!

Hard to get parking on the street in front of the record store. There's a few spots, but I went around to a parking lot around back behind where the hardware store in diner are. I went and it was pretty busy even on a Tuesday at around 1:15 PM. I was impressed how well organized the store was clean looking too. One of the employees notice me and said "may I help you" I said I was just looking around. I see how it's organized with the CDs and DVDs. He said in the back of the vintage records and cassettes . Everything was laid out very nicely and organized well. Lots and lots of DVDs Blu-ray discs lots and lots of CDs. Many many records as well. Prices looked great on the DVDs. Somewhere $.99 dollar $.99 $2.99 TV box sets also inexpensive. Very good prices on The Records as well. CDs as well but I didn't look at too many of them. I really wanted to check out the cassette section. They had two big sections of cassettes both of them. You had to ask one of the employees to open up the sliding doors. Except for one section with folk cassettes, and some Grateful Dead live cassettes. Immediately picked out about 10 folk cassettes . Pete seger Bonnie Raitt. The letterman, etc.. I went up to the front and told the guy to please unlock the cassette area. Lots of rock and pop from A-to-Z. Most prices were $.99 $1.99. $2.99 $3.99. Some more hard to get ones were $4.99 $6.99. Anyway, I picked up well over 30 tapes. Definitely some I haven't seen before on cassette others. I wanted to get, but were a little pricey in other stores. I told the guy was ready at the front and he came back to lock the area where all the cassettes were. He said wow you got quite a collection of tapes there. He helped carry up a bunch of them. I left them at the counter for them to start pricing. They said thank you for helping clear out some of the cassettes. Maybe not that many people get cassettes anymore. But I still have a cassette deck in my Lincoln town car. As well as a nice couple of boxes, walkmans and a nice tape deck for my stereo system hi-fi system Lots of good CDs. I looked at while they were checking out the tapes The employees were very friendly. I talked to them as they were finishing ringing up the tapes they gave me a punchcard and I got five punches. They told me the stores been there for 40+ years. I'll have to go back and look through the CDs and DVDs next time I go down there. I would definitely recommend this record store. Everything is clean, not dusty or musty laid out very nicely and clearly. There are fantastic deals here. Be careful you might spend too much money and go home with a load of stuff.

The owner plays a good mix of music to keep you feening for yesteryear. Bring any Classics you may have around and see what you can get. Can easily make a new friend and bond with those who have come to enjoy erstwhile. It's a but cramped and crammed with stuff but that's part of its charm.
