Came here last Thursday evening, as we were bar hopping and needed to carb up. The guys there were great. The place is under new ownership. We ordered the veggie taco, asada y chorizo, pastor,y nopal I believe is what we got. I didn't realize they were handmade Tortillas! They were all delicious! He also served us some chips and difft salsas, I loved the red one as it had a kick to it. The green was very mild for us, but all flavorful. We stumbled on this place during our trip to SB. To start, the service was just ok. It was a Sunday evening, so they were ready to leave when we arrived at 7:45 (they close at 9pm), at least that was the vibe we got. It was very annoying that they had no water station and that we HAD to buy bottled water. That is a huge pet peeve of both mine and my husband but whatever. As for the food, we each ordered 2 carnitas tacos (our favorite ) and kid's burrito for our daughter. The tortillas are homemade which I love and the green spicy salsa was delicious. The carnitas were very, very bland, like no salt or flavor at all. We both felt like we had to put a LOT of salsa on to enjoy the tacos. My kiddo enjoyed her burrito- beans, rice, and cheese, but it's kind of hard to mess that up. The tacos were disappointing but we were pretty hungry so we ate them. The server didn't care either way because she didn't check on us at all once she brought the food- we were the only ones there. Anyway, with all of the positive reviews on here , we thought the food would have been better. There are many other amazing taquerias and places to eat around and away from State street , so we will make a better plan next time. read more

Wife asked in English and in Spanish if their chips were bought or made in their kitchen, she said the chips were fresh made in their kitchen, they definitely are not. The margaritas are a bit on the weaker side. Most of the food is pretty good. But, the reason I'm giving them 4 stars instead of 3 is because I had one of the best tacos here. Tacos were fresh and amazing. Was a little bummed they didn't have a restroom -- walked there with my partner and her and I woulda liked to wash our hands and use the restroom but we couldn't and had to walk elsewhere while one of us waited for the food -- but the FOOD was amazing. We had fish and shrimp tacos, and they were delicious. The outdoor seating was nice and the staff could have been nicer... but the food spoke for itself. I came here for a quick lunch on a Saturday around 3 pm. My boyfriend got three birria tacos and I got a carne asada taco and a fried fish taco to eat in. We sat in their patio area to wait for the food, and it took a long time. We probably waited 30 minutes for the tacos. We went up to ask about them and they said they were still working on it. Finally when they came out they came in a to go box even though we asked to eat there. That wasn't too big of a deal, we just opened the boxes at the table. The birria tacos were good, just very greasy. The fish taco was not good, it tasted like absolutely nothing. The carne asada taco was okay, nothing special. The meat over cooked and dry, so it wasn't that pleasant to eat. The only sauces that they came with were a creamy green sauce and a hot tomato sauce (which was weird). No salsa or anything. This place is a great find! The food was delicious, as if I was eating at my Mexican moms house - authentic and feelings of home. I normally don't go to Mexican restaurants because I have high standards but it didn't disappoint. Walked downtown Santa Barbara for a Mexican restaurant today Saturday. Hungry as heck. Order two beers and two burritos. Beers were great for the wife and I. The order took 45 minutes for Chicken burritos one which had avocado and the other didn't order was the same for both of us. The Burritos were full of rice and hardly to beans or chicken. What a disappointment. I ate half taking the rest for my dogs. The cook or helpers...whatever had no sense of doing multiple orders at once, beans and rice and meat are a given. Warm tortilla to wrap the meals took 45 minutes. Wow. I think they need to re think their business plan. Others waiting for the food as well. Honestly, some of the best tacos I've ever had! Amazing vegetarian options, the zucchini in the corn and zucchini taco was grilled to *perfection*, I'd say that was my favorite taco here. There's also a taco with hibiscus flower in it, but don't be fooled, it tastes nothing like a flower - it's tough, meaty, and season very well. The drinks were also amazing! My friend and I got a Bloody Mary (which she loved) and a hibiscus margarita. I asked for the margarita as a double, and it still tasted so light and sweet! This place is amazing! Freshly made tortillas, extensive menu offering very traditional authentic tacos and ingredients. I get the nopales and octopus tacos. Amazing!!! Service is great, salsas are different that your typical Mexican restaurants in town. If they could offer a bit more variety in salsas (other than the creamy versions) and maybe better and fresher tasting agua frescas to match the authenticity of their tacos, that could make this one of my new favorite taco places.
