We loved this place! Very neighborhood-y feel, which adds to the already bustling vibe. On a busier-than-usual Sunday night, we waited a while for a table, and we weren't super-confident that they were even following a list. But they came through, and we were seated in about 30 minutes. Our waiter was Javier, a very suavely charming Jersey pan-Latino guy. His service and recommendations were right on. The three of us shared about 8-10 different tapas. came here with my girlfriends after work one day. you can either use their valet parking or you can self park but there's only street parking around this area. we sat in their "outdoor" indoor area. we ordered a bunch of tapas and drinks. their price point is a bit expensive for the amount of food we ordered, but their drinks were pretty good and worth it. the staff are super friendly and helpful. overall, not too shabby ! read more

This place is the epitome of an unassuming hole in the wall. You're off on some random side street in Newark and there is this place with excellent food and service jammed between a bunch of residential properties . My biggest criticism of the entire joint is that they need a bigger restaurant and supply fridge. We went on a busy day and nearly everything they brought out of the kitchen was excellent outside of maybe the steamed vegetables. We ordered a bunch of tapas: Fresh pork shoulder - yum Chorizo - yum Pork filet - by far the best Ham and cheese plate Octopus - wasn't as good as the reviews said Potatoes Chocolate cookie (see pic, huge, new definition of a cookie - yum) So wonderful and filling Tips: many dishes come with potatoes, so no need to order them separately. Casa d'Paco is an absolutely phenomenal restaurant. The food, drinks and staff are top above anything else in Newark. I'm greeted with a smile each and every time I go. Super chill place!!! The culture in this place is semi hipster... authentic Spaniard. Kept true to their roots with great hospitality and drinks!!! Owner Angel was there and made great conversation with everyone open to talk. Felt like I was visiting my cousin's restaurant... felt welcomed something you do not get ever day. Bartender Jose made me my own little cocktail that was light and refreshing. FOOD:warm bread for the table we started with steak/ shimp/mushroom FIRE!!! pealla omg was so good takes 30 mins to make but worth it. U HAVE TO TRY THE FLAN. This restaurant is pretty easy to get to and is a 10minute drive or so to Prudential Center. Definitely come here for dinner and drinks before you watch a show! They have free valet parking, but I honestly didn't see any other parking other than that and street parking. We were lucky enough to get two chairs at the bar because when we went (a Saturday around 4PM, hours before a Red Bulls game), it was PACKED. The restaurant itself is small, too. For drinks, I had the Mango Sangria and my fiancé had their house wine, which was delicious! It wasn't dry at all. They do have Super Bock, Estrella, San Miguel, and other beers available, too. For our tapas, we ordered the croquetas de jamón ibérico, pulpo a galega, tips de sirloin y camarón, patatas bravas, and camarones al ajillo (my favorite!). All of these took us back to when we visited Spain for the first time. The servings are perfect for two people, the food is delicious, and all at a great price. I get full quickly so I wish I could have ordered everything on the menu. For dessert, we had tartufo which was also very good! The service is excellent and the owner, who was also bartending, was so personable! The other bartenders are great as well. You can definitely tell the owner loves what he does. Casa d'Paco is an absolute gem located in Newark. With all of the competitors surrounding the Newark area, Casa is second to none. I am not even sure it's fair to compare Casa to the other Spanish restaurants around because of how precise they are; from food to service to atmosphere. You'll always find the owner Angel creating something new to add into his business because of how passionate he is about Casa. Try their amazing aged barrel cocktails, creative Sangria, or their amazingly smooth house made wine from their line, Paco Luca. Lunch and Happy Hour specials are always available and they are always surprising you with a new dish as part of their specials. You can never get bored of this place and what they have to offer. They also have events from time to time! Friday night couldn't have come soon enough so after a long work week, I was eager to have some wine and good food. I stopped in after having handing my car to the valet and wow - what a crowd! I've never come here on a weekend so I did not expect this place to be booked solid. However, I was lucky enough to see a couple of friends there having drinks so I was able to be seated. We ordered the Paco Luca rioja bottle and it was so good. We ordered the paella, patatas bravas and the tiger shrimp. Patatas bravas are cut potatoes with a brava sauce that is zesty, but these happened to be the best patatas bravas I've ever had in Newark. You can really taste the freshness of the sauce when you dip your potato in and the fresh garlic and olive oil. The tiger shrimp is shell on which is a traditional way of eating the shell fish but it is packed with flavor. Of course the paella did not disappoint either. We were all blown away as we have tried multiple paella's in Newark but the flavor and the generous portions of seafood and meat really amazed us. I love having sangria or wine with a good paella and boy was I a happy camper! Can't wait to try more dishes when I come back! read more

Casa d'Paco is a fantastic neighborhood spot - we came on a cold Saturday night and the place was warm and lively, filled with happy people, delicious food, and excellent drinks. The place feels like home in all the best ways. We had sangria, wine, and orujo for dessert. The croquettes were very satisfying, and the avocado/crab dish was tasty (though I personally would probably try something different the next time I'm in town). The cookie cake was a surprise - decadent and delicious. Our server was excellent - friendly and engaging, but also subtle and supportive - taking great care of us throughout the night. We look down from our conversation and suddenly there would be more drinks or the next dish. Parking was a bit of a challenge, but it was well worth it. Casa d'Paco quickly established itself as one of our favorite restaurants of the year. We'll look forward to coming back one day. read more

VERY DISAPPOINTED. Went there because it was reviewed in the Star Ledger. The writer swore it was the best paella. It was not. The shrimps were about the size of a dime, the " calamari " body the size of 2 dimes laid side by side. The tapas were so so. If you have never eaten down neck and have never eaten "Spanish" / Portuguese and don't cook , then this is the place for you. And it is pricey for what you get. read more

Warm and friendly atmosphere. Apparently a favorite place for Devils fans to eat. We were near Newark and decided to grab a quick bite in Ironbound. Our party of two ordered off the daily specials tapa menu: croquetas with ham, garlic shrimp, grilled octopus and langostinos. Loved the croquetas and shrimp (A+), the octopus tasted good initially, but it was a bit too greasy for us to finish (B). The langostinos was a bit more expensive than the other tapas, but came with 4 large prawns (B+). For seafood lovers, this place was good. For dessert, the waiter introduced us to the butterscotch cookie cake with whip cream. It was different from the standard desserts we get elsewhere, and we loved it! I've been here a few times. Love to catch up with friends here as it's pretty convenient and family owned. Good service and great food. Depends what kind of night I'm having, but if I want something light I tend to stick to the tapas you can't go wrong. But their entrees are just as delicious.
