My coworker and I came here one evening after a long afternoon of presentations. I had this place bookmarked for ages, and jumped at this chance to try it when I discovered it wasn't far from where I was.. It was sublime! Everything we ordered, heavenly. When we went last night (a Wednesday) it was absolutely packed (and it's not a large space). The woman at the next table had a crazy loud voice & cackle, possibly fueled by too much of Paco's delicious sangria. Anyway, you can't go wrong with any of the food here. Everything is delicious. Garlic shrimp tapa, so fresh. And the sauce is amazing. Patatas bravas, again, the sauce is so good. We also had the stuffed avocado appetizer and a stuffed flounder special. With a pitcher of really good white sangria. Plenty of food for two; all just wonderful. Go if you want a great, reasonably priced meal served up by friendly staff. Where should I start?!? We ordered 3 different tapas: empanadillas de pollo (they were good), filet mignon tips with shrimp (steak had NO flavor), Bombas de Barcelona (AMAZING!!!!). As our entree we split a paella, which was absolutely delicious and I still have leftovers for today. The paella had a lot of seafood in it and a lot of flavor. We got two large pitchers of sangria: red ($20) and passion fruit ($25). The sangria WAS AMAZING, it wasn't overly sweet, it was just perfect. They both had very good flavor. Our waiter was extremely friendly, I didn't catch his name but he was knew the menu pretty well (long hair, beard, Colombian guy). They also played good Spanish rock while we ate, the ambiance was pretty darn good! This place is definitely a must try! Loved this establishment. From the food to the service, I thought that everything was impeccable. Our waiter Rino gave us amazing recommendations, of which I highly recommend the aguacate relleno and costilla de vaca. I was trying to remember this spot to tell my coworker so I entered yelp and while here decided to give my review. All I'll say for now is that I really enjoyed the food. The garlic shrimp was so good, I ordered a second. The tiger prawns were so tasty and seasoned, I ate the shell (yeah, I didn't peal those fuckers, just ate'em). I've been craving Spanish coffee and that was good too. I need to give it another try little less sweet. Went solo to kill time while waiting for my daughter to come out of the military ball she was attending at nearby Doubletree. Right away I was greeted warmly and like an old-timer as a sat at the bar. The vibe was positive and the atmosphere very homey.The bartender Alex was extremely helpful in choosing the Penta (a blend of 5 different red wines) pairing to go with my Jamon Iberico de Bellota (the only place I've seen it served in NJ) and boy, it was the real deal! This stuff is Heaven. For $28 you get a plateful of the best Jamon on planet Earth. It was totally worth it: It you haven't tasted this, you're missing one of the premier delicacies. Paca's son Angel chatted me up as I was devouring my Jamon, which he says comes from the outskirts of Granada. I also ordered the Langoustines, (after the Jamon) probably the best serving of prawns in Newark. The garlic flavoring on the shell was perfect. Paired with a Vina Costeira 2015 (Ribeiro) they really complemented each other. Can't wait to bring the rest of the family to sample the other Tapas offering. We always loved this spot and it always felt welcomed. Haven't been here for 2 years due to the pandemic.. Well things haven't changed regarding the hospitality at this restaurant. We are 4 Covid conscientious people and were concerned about the set up. The reservation desk which was run by Ingrid sent me a video of the restaurant to provide comfort to us! Amazing service! Ingrid was delightful to speak with and a host like this is hard to find.. They have any area which is semi outdoor which felt safe and fun! Casa de Paco has a unique take on tapas and this guy loves tapas. Oh how you fellow Yelpers got this one very right. It's extremely difficult knowing where to start. Let's do food first then ring it back to look, feel and service. A few of my favorite bites were the Razor clams with a sharp (he, he) garlic and butter flavor dancing on my tongue. The baby squid is to write home about, dabbled with onions and cherry spicy peppers. Galatian octopus slightly grilled in imported olive oil almost made me dye (he,he, I can't help myself). Juicy tiger shrimp practically pounced on my taste buds. Stuffed relano with minced crab meat delightfully pinched me with perhaps the most unique item on the menu. All running from $6 to $10 average with larger portions available upon request. Easily overlooked and off the beaten path, appears to be a converted apartment which I belive to be the case. Warm and inviting from greeting to good bye. I asked for a few suggestions and they asked me what do I typically like, of course I eat everything so I will give anything a try once or twice or.....I asked for the most unusual and I'm cool with spicy, but my butt isn't, lol. They may custom each dish based on your flavor to savor. They even accommodate GLUTEN free folks. Everything is made to order so don't expect fast food, absolutely worth the wait if you haven't gathered yet. Courteous, kind and warmly inviting sevice is their moniker. A perfect date night destination. Quaint and clean. Kinda loud as the crowd is quite festive. The bar is cute with a few unique tap options, I guzzled a Spanish beer that I've can't quite remember, but it was nicely clean and crisp to my liking at $7 pint. Lucas was our server. He was kind and informative regarding what we should order. The drinks were very tasty. We had the red sangria and a mojito. Made with real fruit juice and not a cheap sugar mixer. The kids had fresh lemonade. The restaurant had a cool vibe with good Spanish music on. Casual but great for any occasion. The food was absolutely delicious. The paella was superb and filled with a large mix of sea food. The tapas were also excellent. Our favorites were the crab stuffed peppers, and the shrimp my husband loved the churasco. We thoroughly enjoyed everything. I have to also add we had some desserts... not pictured. Chocolate cheesecake and regular cheesecake... my kids basically gobbled it all up before we could get two bites in. They said it was like "hello amazing." The prices were reasonable for the quality of the meal service. We have been to many places with mediocre food and service but high prices. Definitely not this place. I liked the loud vibe of the place. Makes it feel alive. We must have had about fifteen dishes. My only criticism is on two. The paella felt more like a rice with seafood dish. Long grain rice was used and it was watery. No socarrat. Paella by DO definition has no chorizo either. The chuleton was overdressed, felt a bit greasy, maybe the added oil. I was impressed! The food was delicious! My husband and I brought our parents here to celebrate a birthday. The servers were nice, the service was a bit slow, but it was well worth the wait. We ordered the cod, lamb, paella, and a beef dish. We also ordered the roasted potatoes (the dipping sauce was spicy and so very tasty) and octopus. I didn't have the octopus, but everyone else did and it's delicious. We also got a pitcher of sangria - yum! The food and ambiance used to be great. I went all the time with family and friends when this place first opened. Only as of recently, maybe since 2021 or 2022, they changed a lot of the menu and staff with it. Took forever to bring water, sometimes brought bread and sometimes didn't, and you could be left at the end of the meal wanting dessert/coffee and it would take forever for someone to check up on you, so I just skipped to the check without ordering anything else and swore never to go back unless the vibe and service expectations changed. This was my first time going to this place. I had friends from out of town and we wanted to Spanish food so we decided to try this place since it had such high ratings. We were all a little disappointed with the food. The waiter recommended the octopus which we could see the seasoning but lacked flavor and tasted very "fishy". We ordered other tapas such as the tiger shrimp, Patatas, and chicken empanadas which was just ok. Even the margarita my friend ordered tasted like watered down lemon water with a little tequila!
