This is the first cigar bar that I've enjoyed since relocating to North Carolina, the humidor is amazing. The scrubbers in the ceiling are off the chart. And if you know anything about scrubbers and the ceiling and being a woman, it is the best feeding in the well to come home and not have to scrub your hair out of cigar smoke. Great experience at this JR lounge while in the area on business. Beer on tap, plus a decent spirit selection. Lots of cigar options to choose from at decent prices. Looks great inside. Chairs are very worn out and need to be replaced. I was here on a Wednesday and it closed at 9pm, which was disappointing. Our lounges in Orlando are open until midnight on Wed-Sat. But the server did let us order drinks and take them outside to the patio to have another stick after they closed. read more

A friend invited me to try this cigar lounge. Its tucked away in Mooresville. I was impressed when I walked in because the inside is huge. There is a bar to the left when you first walk in. There is nothing like this in Toronto! There will NEVER be anything like this in Toronto. Absolute pity and oh so unfair!!! This JR Cigar is located about 30 mins away from Charlotte Airport in Moorseville and given a chance to make the nearby area my home in the USA, I would. The area has miles and miles of waterfront and is absolutely beautiful. Casa de Montecristo by JR Cigar is a home away from home for me. I went there on my way to High Point (1.5 hours away) and it was a great idea - I also stopped there on the way back to the airport. The lounge is absolutely stunning and the humidor is a dream. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly, even to the only Asian guy that was there. I dropped more cash than expected and after I paid and Yelp-Checked-In, I got an alert for 10% off my purchase! Ugh...$30 lost! I guess I'll keep that for my next trip to NC. I sat at the bar for a couple of hours smoking my purchases away - both times. Had a couple of Maker's Mark 46 and sampled some local brews. Dave the Beer-Tender is a great gentleman and all the people I met were as well. In the humidor, the ladies at cash were hilarious. They were signing along with the music and all smoking their own cigars. Yes...in the humidor, which was a perfect temperature and humidity with their high tech vaporizers. I'd go back in a heartbeat. If the totalitarian crazies governing our country would allow tobacconist to have their lounges back, us Canadians would spend our hard earned leftover cash - after they take most of it in taxes - here...instead of the USA. When Smokin' in the Carolinas was cancelled, my friend and I decided we had to somehow make up for the missed party. We spent 3 days in Mooresville, with all of our smoking and beverage time at this Casa. We had a great time. The service was spot on and the help in the humidor received from Joanna was simply outstanding. She knew how to recommend various cigars based on our specific tastes and helped us find our go to cigars. Dave was a pleasure to talk to at the bar and served everything we needed with a smile and great conversation. I just wished I lived closer so I could hang out more often. I love this new place. When you first go in you immediately step into a cigar lounge/man cave replete with tv's, tables, and leather comfort chairs. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. They even let me borrow a cutter and lighter, which I had forgotten at home. The store itself is a bit smaller than it was in its former Statesville location. The cigar selection also looks a bit smaller and the prices appear to have gone up a tiny bit compared to previous. Nevertheless, I was able to find my favorite "go to" sticks. This will foreseeably become one of my favorite escapes. [Updated this review with a higher score to balance out the clueless review by a clueless Yelper which followed mine. The fact that she can't work a map nor a GPS is not a reflection on JR's. JR's is NOT hard to find nor is the traffic pattern heavy in the slightest. This cigar shop is the biggest and best that i've ever been in! The selection is incredible, they have a bar, and an area for you to enjoy your cigars as well. They have rare cigars that are hard to find, and exclusive cigars made specifically for their chain of stores. I found it online and decided to give it a go, and I will not be shopping anywhere else in the future. Not a review of the discount brick n' mortar store. A review of the cigar selection via the website and the slick catalog. I've been smoking cigars since the 1970's and have been a JR customer for more than 25 years. Right now I have over 50 JR cigars in my humidor. It's granted that JR carries a lot of brands / cigar bands that you will see no where else. These are private brands, commissioned by JR. And then there's the JR labeled cigars that are made specifically for them out of the factories in Dominican republic and Honduras. Some of these labels are pretty tasty and have good value prices. And then some of the lower priced cigars are real clunkers with rough texture, grassy bitter flavor and disagreeable aromas. If you are a new customer I recommend that you buy a few sampler packs and see which cigars you prefer. The slick magazine format catalog is a treasure trove of cigar information. Too bad that the owner, Lou, no longer writes his rants and raves throughout the catalog. I used to enjoy his sardonic humor and wacky take on almost everything. Back to the review: If you're a cheapskate cigar smoker like me, you may appreciate JR cigar as well. Prices are 50 - 75% lower than the few fancy pants cigar shops that remain here in the good ol'e USA. read more

This place is amazing. Perfect stop for out and about days! I don't agree that the review prior stating that it's 24th century modern. It's rustic and classy. It's luxury just as Winston Churchill would require-seems like it would definitely be a lounge he would attend. It's if restoration hardware threw up all over this place in the BEST way possible. The staff is amazing and friendly and have been the most helpful. Craft beer bar is coming soon also so that is a major plus. You can also order food from menus and have it delivered from local restaurants straight to your comfy leather chair. I do have one complaint about people standing and smoking inside the humidor. JR is a legendary discount big box chain that also features an awesome cigar selection at great prices. Locally, it was in Statesville in a big box but it has now moved to Mooresville. The big box is gone replaced by a sleek cigar only venture. It is well designed with inviting modern lounges and stonework as well as a huge walk in humidor with a broad selection of upper end cigars. The lounges feature comfortable furniture and big screen TVs. It is truly a cigar smokers fantasy hang out. Word is they may add a bar. The cigar selection at this location seems a bit more expensive than the previous location. Regardless, this is a must destination for any cigar lover. read more

While perusing cigar bars in the Northern area, I wanted to share my great experience at Casa de Montecristo. Then, I saw that I failed to write a review! I am correcting that right now. My first visit was last year (2017) and it was my introduction by a good friend. She specifically chose this location because of the great atmosphere and bones. By bones, I mean the structure of the building, the interior design, the humidor, the staff, the boxes, the perks, the events, the outdoor patio. All of these are of the highest quality. I love Casa because of the high ceilings and great ventilation. As a newbie, this was the perfect place for me as I was not introduced to an abundance of smoke before entering the facility. I enjoyed sitting inside as well as on the patio in the rocking chairs with the fire pit going. My first visit was all that and I am convinced this is the best cigar lounge in the area! I enjoy getting to spend time with my dad (Hugh Sykes). Panthers game was great Sunday 12/20/23 to go 14-0. I do not think there was a Giants fan amongst us. The staff is awesome and very knowledgeable!! The location is excellent. Very easy to get to as its right beside the interstate. A stop light adds for easy in and out! You may meet a local Nascar celebrity or travelers from all fifty states passing through our little town. Sunday's door prizes given out during the panthers games. Great selection and very friendly staff! I am new to the cigar world and have never been made to feel ignorant when asking for advice on cutters, humidors, etc. The ventilation system is also much better than I've experienced in other cigar shops. Even with 10 people sitting around the bar with cigars, you will never be surrounded by a cloud of smoke, which makes it a place you can easily invite a friend who doesn't smoke cigars. Use a quality GPS app (Waze led me right to the store) the first time you check this place out, and you shouldn't have a problem finding it. Also, if you are looking for a specific cigar, I would recommend calling ahead. Though the cigar selection is large, they don't carry every cigar ever produced in the exact quantity you might be looking to purchase. Great place to enjoy great cigars and spirits. Today was my first time visiting and it was terrific. The building is laid out nicely, the decor is great, the filtration system does a great job of keeping the smoke down even with a large number of smokers, the bar has a nice selection and the humidor offers a great selection of the worlds best premium brands and boutique cigars. Mr. Larry and Mrs. Jo Ann were very friendly and helpful and took time to get to know me. Cigar prices were actually better than expected and the 10% discount as a new email subscriber came in handy.
