Lake Norman Tavern isnt exactly hidden because of its blue exterior, but it is a real gem! The menu is extensive with so much good stuff, I asked if we'd be coming back (YES) so I could plan ahead. The top shelf margaritas were big and delish! The food is wonderful and Taylor's service was friendly, helpful and efficient. Her outgoing personality really suits her. My friend got the Cod Fish and Chips and I got the Fried Clam Po Boy with fries. The fries were crunchy and the clams were tender. Everything was delicious! We got salads to go for our dinner later and they were good too! I got the grilled shrimp spinach salad with candied pecans, red onions, roasted red peppers, bacon and hot bacon dressing! Salad lettuce is usually brown. Food is decent of you get the right thing. Certain customers get better treatment than others. Have had popped tires in the parking lot. You Can hear a chef always yelling and cursing out employees from in the kitchen. Kids running around or very drunk adults acting like kids on multiple occasions. Out back has a vollyball court and tables to sit at. They have pool tables as well. read more

Again, I write to tell everyone how great a little family place can be. The service the Saturday night I was there was a little slow, but overall, given the restaurant was packed, I cannot complain. Ice cold beer and a burger that I created on the fly was fabulous, very hot and steamy, had a great wood fired flavor along with equally scorching hot French fries. Food not good. I had seafood Platter my son had hamburger.Burger was basically burnt. He ask for medium well. I had seafood platter. The fish,shrimp,clams tasted off like frozen from store bought.The tuna appetizer we got was beige color not even close to pink. I have photos. --spoiler alert: in on recommendation like many recent outings. guess this place must have changed hands at least once in the last couple or five years because NOPE! this ain't quite it. first impression walking in was favourable; greeting, menu, and a large glass of iced water because 95° but I apparently transgressed some local deity when I asked how fishy the fish and chips were (not "how icky is the icthus?" mind you) got an odd side-eye and cold shoulder but I'm already here so I'm gonna eat something... went with the F&C anyway because, well, you know... taters and cod and slaw (what! no roll?) two thick-ish fish spears come out on a sprawling mass of seasonal fries with cocktail and tartar sauce but no lemon (?) my used glass was replaced with fresh waters but I didn't get a chance to ask about a cocktail to go with my dinner... was thinking a negroni or a collins but after carefully disregarding me the bartender slipped into the kitchen never to be seen again and nobody asked if anything was okay until I flagged down a random employee to cash out. the jumbo fish sticks were super crunchy and good for fish sticks, not so much for beer battered cod though. the slaw was the highlight here: white, shredded and creamy with a little tooth. cocktail sauce was a bit thin and a bit flat; tartar sauce was interesting but obviously leaning urgic or kazakhi. seasonal fries were about right for early summer, crispy, not greezey, good with ketchup but would have been better chasing a cocktail or even a cider. almost felt bad about shorting the tip except for the utter lack of attention I received. a sack of new logo pens had everyone's attention for a while (yep, clicky ballpoint pens!) couple of regulars got an an update about the soon to be released Uncle MILFies summer fashions and the great celebrity bourbon taste off. pretty sure LNT would be a fine specimen with a little focus: family friendly tavern, tiki-revival, liquor snobatorium, bro bar-o-rama... whatever!? just pick one read more

Don't let the dive bar facade stop you from trying this neighborhood gem. The old school diner vibe is enhanced by friendly staff who greet you warmly and with genuine hospitality. Hubby and I were hooked by the sumptuous lobster mac and cheese, a generous heaping of gooey deliciousness. Ahi tacos were great, accompanied by old bay fries with yummy cheese sauce. Hubby's salmon tacos were a tad dry, but his tots made up for that. If I have a heart attack, at least my last meal was a good one! Would be 5 stars if they reno the bathroom ;) read more

I love a good wing. Crispy, flavorful and lots of parm and garlic. That's just what I had here. I ordered a 5 piece order and it was plenty for one. My friend ordered the wings hot and the wings were smothered in sauce. We both got a side of ranch with our wings and I have to say it tasted homemade. The dressing was rich and creamy. We also ordered the garlic fries and they were delicious. This place was jumping for a week night and everyone looked to be having a good time at this local hang out. I was so hungry I forgot to take a picture. They have live music on Monday's and they have fun activities to do while visiting here. We've had a lot of good items there. Some of their items could use an update like their Tavern Nachos for example. They need to invest in a better chip capable of scooping and holding the various items on the plate. The current chips can't hold anything and are pretty much soggy or mush from the start. Their wings on the other hand are top notch. Size, flavors, crisp are all consistently great each time we've ordered. Service was quick and efficient. Great sports bar, lots of televisions outdoor activities. Friendly staff, real home cooking no fast food or processed food. Real fresh nit frozen cod, Fish and Chips were the real deal. Thick flaky fish beer battered. Four types of Fish Tacos, Thai Calamari was cooked Perfectly not chewy like most, full of flavor just needed more of it. Will definitely be back again. Been a couple of years since I have been here but it's a big improvement. In the old days, used to have a bit of a rough reputation and was called Uncle M.I.L.F.'s and still have some signs that referrence that fact but now M.I.L.F. stands for Man I Love Food. It's a cool wet Autumn day with intermittent rain. Got a pneumonia shot at CVS and came down Brawley School Rd to Lake Town Tavern. Bit understaffed with only one server doing everything except prepare the food but not a lot of people so it works out well. I ordered the French Dip and it was excellent except the horseradish if that is what it is, is a bit lame. Lots of good beef and large portion as well. The Fries on the side were what we call Seasoned Fries and they were perfect. My wife had a Steak and Bleu Salad that she loved. Large portion with plenty of steak and bleu cheese but also with candied walnuts and blueberrys made for something different. Family kept coming in with kids so very family friendly. Pleanty of wide screen TV's and today, this is more of a sports bar though still a bit dimly lit. read more

We live near this Tavern and have called many times and been declined. Today specifically, my husband and I called in and made sure we would be able to call 15 minutes later and place our order. We received an assuring "yes no problem". We called back and our call wasn't answered every time. It was only 5 minutes later. We decided to drive up to the tavern because we had our heart set on wings. We walked in and asked to place a to go order, we were once again declined due to "low staff". Let me get the only positive thing out of the way before I jump into how bad the food was. The service was awesome! Our server was very friendly and attentive and that's about the only good thing we experienced. We didn't set out to eat at Lake Norman Tavern, but our initial choice was closed so we thought Yelp would provide accurate review about this place, but that was not the case. Everything was extremely greasy and tasted like it had been sitting in grease for a while. The mozzarella sticks are your basic frozen supermarket quality. The fish and chips was horribly greasy and also typical frozen supermarket quality. The shrimp tacos were not bad, but messy as the tortilla completely fell apart when picking it up. Our very friendly server was kind enough to take our sodas off the bill, because they had a very odd taste to it. I would definitely not come back, but none of this is the fault of the server who did her job perfectly. read more
