I am a regular here but I generally come for lunch. This evening, I decided to check out the karaoke event they have on Fridays. It was a light crowd this evening but a nice time was had. The bartenders, staff, event staff were all friendly and talked with use. Show out to Hugo was very hospital along with female singer and her husband taking pictures. As always the food was very good and tasteful. The ambiance is one of nice night club. They have an entertainment stage. Look forward to returning

Omg so good!! The lunch portion is enough to enjoy & be full! The mixture of rice, peppers, onions, & chicken is fresh & full of flavor. I will definitely be back here soon! I did order to pick up but f you'd prefer to dine in, the place is very aesthetically pleasing.

Yall azúcar is the spot. Ropa Vieja is so yummy, it is slightly pricey but worth the portions and scrumptious food they are serving up. The servers are always so nice. Darker vibe, good for a date !! Weekly drink specials you should check out, and lunch special is a bargain!

Hands down the BEST Cuban restaurant in the Huntersville area!!! Drop what you're doing and please pull up!! The staff, food and the drinks are 10 out of 1000!!!! I can't stress enough! From the daily specials and the vibes this spot is amazing!! Hector is absolutely amazing! He's the manager and very knowledgeable of the menu and drinks!

Every time I visit Charlotte, I have to come here for brunch! First and foremost, $4.99 bottomless sangrias... idk how they make it happen, but just don't ask questions. I've tried all the sangrias, but my favorite is the classic Roja. Food-wise, the Cuban egg rolls on the appetizer menu are the *best* - the sweet & spicy mustard sauce is supreme. Surprisingly, they're not actually not on the brunch menu (though it should be), but you can order from all menus during brunch. I've tried many of the brunch entrees and especially enjoyed the Guava French Toast and the 'Fulano y Mengano' entree. My sister swears that the frittatas at this location are superior to the other location. I've actually only been to this location once, because Ballantyne is typically closer. I will say this location is much cuter, and the lounge couch area is super vibey. We requested to dine in the lounge for a more relaxed, social experience. Summary: 10/10 experience

This place is perfect for a date night. The food was great, the ambience was nice and felt personal. The lighting and decor made this place seem very well put together. Would happily return in the future

Whoever is cooking at Azucar Cuban Restaurant is doing a great job at providing flavorful and authentic Cuban cuisine. However, I found the service department needing LOTS of help. I visited with a party of 10 people to celebrate a birthday. Upon entry, the decor and vibe here is very dimly lit, sultry and almost "loungey". There's a standard bar with seating and a few couches facing a small stage where they had a bass player performing some jazz tunes. The musician on a Saturday night was super chill. Toward the back area there's additional tables and seating. The highlight here is the extensive menu of Cuban staples. I tried the Branzino dish (fried fish filet with potatoes and veggies) and it was super flavorful. The camaron enchilado (shrimp with veggies and rice and plantain) was also very tasty. My husband had the Masas dish with a side of black beans. This dish also had a lot of flavor and hit the mark on texture. I tried various other dishes and as a WHOLE - the food gets a 4.3 out of 5. All portions were LARGE and very filling. The cocktail menu is pretty fun and leans more toward Cuban style/fruitier drinks. I highly recommend the mojitos - I enjoyed mine. The experience wasn't as great as it could be because our waitress was not super knowledgeable or attentive. It'd take pretty long to get another round of cocktails or for her to check on us. They can only split payment 4 ways for large groups. Please note, you won't be able to select multiple dishes off your tab and just have them bill you for those dishes. This means: you'll have to sit there with a calculator on your phone and start adding up and splitting dishes and then tell them exactly what to bill you. Furthermore - they tack on automatic 20% gratuity - which you also will have to calculate with your party. This kind of system is super outdated and put a damper on the experience of the birthday person. In my opinion, a restaurant charging their prices and giving the impression of a more upscale dining experience should have much higher service across the board. The ambiance as a whole was very quiet and chill because after the live bass player was done playing jazz, they had regular Latin music playing super low. For a Cuban restaurant, I would've loved to actually be able to hear and vibe out to some salsa. The potential is absolutely there for this place. We all enjoyed our meals. Kudos to the chef for executing pretty complex Cuban dishes - the food was solid. However, I'd love to see better service and a better customer experience as a whole.

I can never say enough good things about this place. From the intimate atmosphere, to the impressive service, to the delicious food. Everything is just amazing our servicer was Luz, she is fantastic. We had the Azucar sampler that will fill you up with tasty treats. POLLO AHOGADO and the Havana Peking was all do die for. I can't wait to go back. They have specials every day. Dancing on Thursdays, Karaoke on some Fridays. Just so much fun.

I absolutely love this location. They have an awesome lunch special. The food is always fresh and very tasteful. The staff greets you as you enter the establishment. The wait staff is always happy and come with great food or drink options. They have several dining options( at the bar, patio, dining room and a sitting lounge area.

RACIST! RACIST! RACIST!!! I hate to put this, but experiencing a lack of service on two separate occasions is why I will never return to this location. The first time I visited, there was a large group of Spanish speaking people that were loud, boisterous, and they even knocked over a glass. That table was well attended to by our server while she disappeared for at least 15 minutes. We had to flag down another server to go get her. On this visit, my sister ordered the bottomless mimosas and some rice as a side. On my second visit, I genuinely was not hungry and I wanted to get the bottomless mimosas that were $5-10 dollars. There are rules that are specified on the menu, but I didn't see where it was specified that you cannot order the bottomless mimosas by itself. The server took our order, but then comes back and says that the manager said we have to order something from the brunch menu to get the bottomless mimosas. I am not arguing over $5-10, but as you saw in the previous paragraph that a side of rice (which is not on the brunch menu) was ordered with the mimosas and that was sufficient. I wanted to get clarification on the policy because I genuinely enjoy coming to the restaurant. I made sure that I wasn't rude or anything because again arguing over $5-10 isn't that serious to me. When I asked the manager about the policy for just ordering the bottomless mimosas, his tone of voice was rude and he said "it is just a part of the policy." I'm not sure if he thought that I was trying to challenge him, but I just needed clarification since there was an obvious discrepancy from the last visit. Again, the waitress disappears for about 15 to 20 minutes. There are other Spanish-speaking tables around my table which are being attended to while I am being left alone having to flag down the server yet again. Not to mention there were flies flying around our table. The manager really ought to work on his customer service because the place is nice. I mean this with the utmost sincerity that I WILL NEVER RETURN TO THIS LOCATION!!

We didn't use it on this visit, but they offer valet service, which is useful because of the parking congestion that can occur at Birkdale. My first impression was that this is a very beautiful restaurant. There is lots of lighting, thoughtful artistic pieces, and it has an airy, aquatic ambiance. Even the restrooms were lovely! There is an outdoor patio, as well as a front dining area where the bar is, and a rear dining area with visibility to the kitchen. The front and rear areas are separated by a glass waterfall sign bearing the restaurant's name. We had an absolute outstanding server named Saige. She was attentive and made great recommendations for us. To start, we had Caesar salads. The presentation of these was unique, having somewhat of a ruffled appearance. For the second course, we tried the sautéed shrimp with Cajun spice and charred bread as well as bacon wrapped scallops with Calabrian tomato jam. Finally, for the third course, we had the hanger steak with blue cheese butter and new potatoes. I love blue cheese, and I really loved it as an addition to this dish. Every item I tried, I would order again. Unfortunately, we didn't save room for dessert, but we've heard they are fantastic...next time! After dinner, we went and sat at the bar for a little while, and the staff there was just as delightful. Dining here was a whole experience that I plan to repeat again in the future!

Oh, how the mighty have fallen. Despite having reservations, the arrival and seating process felt disorganized. Our server was very friendly and sweet, but she was also somewhat aloof, rarely checked on us, and didn't seem particularly knowledgeable about the kitchen or menu. She mentioned at least five times that they had a new chef and that the menu had become "eclectic." In retrospect, that should have been a warning. Unfortunately, we did not have a single item of food that we would order again. At this price point, that is unacceptable--especially when outstanding premium restaurants such as Seaboy are literally just down the road. We started with a fried rice-ball appetizer and a mozzarella plate. Both desperately needed seasoning and were surprisingly bland. My Caesar salad was tiny, limp, and somehow almost entirely flavorless. My wife ordered a fried game-bird entrée--quail, if I remember correctly. I can't say exactly what went wrong in the kitchen, but the coating had the stale-oil flavor of McDonald's fries discovered three months too late. The accompanying sauce was murky, visually unappealing, and did absolutely nothing to rescue the dish. I love fried chicken, and even I couldn't eat hers. When our server cleared the plate, approximately 95% of the entrée was still sitting there. The server asked if my wife didn't like it, and she commented that it was not very good and explained why, yet they did not offer to make any changes or even discount that part of the bill which felt like a significant missed opportunity to address an obviously unsuccessful dish. I ordered the trout. Even allowing for the smaller portions common at upscale restaurants, it was one of the smallest entrées I have ever been served. Unfortunately, it didn't deliver enough flavor or refinement to make up for its size. By the time dessert was offered, we had no interest in spending more money after being disappointed by the appetizers, salads, and entrées. The beautiful historic home, atmosphere, and front-porch dining remain fantastic. Sadly, the food and overall experience no longer lived up to that wonderful setting. Our first visit was mind-blowing. This visit ensured that we won't return. Unless a massive sign appears out front announcing new management, a new chef, new staff, and an entirely new everything, we will spend our future anniversary dinners elsewhere. To those about to nosh, you have been warned.
