This was our first time here and we were greeted making us feel welcomed! The bartender, Rob, was helpful, patient and friendly. The drinks were made very well. Tony the manager was friendly as well and we shared stories of our Jeeps! Shay was helpful in picking out a cigar and explaining some of the different selections they had. Could Management and Ownership Leadership Please Take Notice As loyal customers who truly love and support this venue, we are asking management and ownership to please give some attention to the details that have recently been overlooked. Over the past few months, particularly since some of the management changes, it feels as though the eye has not always been on the ball. These may seem like small things individually, but collectively they have a noticeable impact on the customer experience. The happy hour wine has been unavailable for more than two weeks. Bathroom toiletries and supplies have not been consistently replenished, including paper towels that went several days without being replaced. Mouthwash and cups were unavailable for weeks and were ultimately purchased and supplied by a loyal customer. We absolutely recognize that the air quality has improved substantially, and that investment is appreciated. However, on high-traffic evenings, the smoke can still become overwhelming. Could ownership please consider investing approximately another $3,000 in two additional Airpura units? It seems like a relatively modest investment that could make a significant difference in the comfort of guests, and employees. We are bringing these concerns forward because we genuinely enjoy the venue and want to continue supporting it. A little more consistent attention to the details that made this place special would go a long way. We hope management and ownership will take these observations in the spirit in which they are intended--from loyal customers who care about the venue and want to see it continue to thrive. read more

This place has excellent staff, cigar quality, and is a great location. Otherwise, I can no longer recommend what used to be my go-to spot. While I expect there to be smoke in a cigar lounge, the air quality here has become completely intolerable when there's more than a few people inside. The smoke heavily lingers, making it difficult to breathe and causing your eyes burn. It's impossible to stay for any length of time. Leaving the doors open helps a little with airflow, but that's not an solution with the heat in FL. It is a shame to see a great place steadily decline due to poor facility maintenance. I know I am not the only regular who feels this way. Casa de Montecristo needs to invest in a modern ventilation system before more loyal customers leave for better-ventilated lounges in the city. If the goal is to keep customers coming back, the environment needs to be comfortable enough to actually stay and enjoy the experience. read more

Our last night in Tampa required a cigar night. This place was conveniently located near our hotel. Right away Tony greeted us and helped my husband pick out a cigar. Bri and Tony were so nice and helpful. We had a great time hanging out and talking while enjoying a drink. read more

Nice cozy gem right off Howard Street in SOHO district. When I say cozy I mean you can come have a stick here and zone out into your own space and not worry about the hustle and bussle of the world outside the doors! Bartenders are amazing and attentive. Really enjoyed this place. Came here a second time to make sure I wasn't dreaming the first time. Both times I was able to get lucky and find a parking spot. There are not so many spots to pick from and parking is limited but I had no problem both times and one time was on a Friday night around 6:30 pm. Really nice selection of cigars and super knowledgeable staff. Service is spot on. Great bar menu with great prices. Decent bourbon selection. Great old fashions and expresso martinis. More importantly, they seemed to have really good ventilation as well. I'm super picky about this as well as the giant smoke-eaters did their job! I was in Tampa for a quick training session for work. Like 23 hours in town. I had lunch and had a couple of hours before my flight. So I thought a drink and cigar would be perfect! We were very excited for our visit here! Unfortunately the AC was broken, but wince we drive from Lakeland, and they were fixing it, we enduredntgrough 2 sticks! The first bartender had to look up an amaretto sour recipe, but in fairness, they were good. Good cigar collection, nice specials, nice rewards program, but my car still smells like a smoke stack, maybe the AC was the reason. Solid cigar lounge. I've been painstakingly awaiting the opening of Mike Howe's second Tampa Humidor location for the past two years. First, the neighborhood rallied against the shop opening up via the Nextdoor app. Everyone belly ached about yet another liquor license being handed out, thus resulting in one more place along S. Howard for folks to act up at. Then, City of Tampa code enforcement ran Tampa Humidor thru the ringer for over a year, which caused delay after delay. Finally, something yuge happened; Altadis, one of the world's largest cigar manufacturers and owner of the Montecristo brand, purchased Tampa Humidor. With their deep pockets, they simply leveled the old house and put a new building on the lot. Having visited a few Casa de Monte Cristo lounges in Houston (Serious Cigars), I knew it was gonna be a nice build out, and I wasn't wrong. Upon walking in, the friendly staff at the bar and in the humidor greeted us, and gave us a run down of the joint. I picked up a few smokes that my local haunt doesn't carry, sat down and enjoyed the scenery. The dark-colored walls, ceramic wood grain tiles and comfy chairs pushed me to the point of nearly falling asleep. Very relaxing atmosphere. A few of my friends know people who have been into the shop since the soft opening a few weeks ago, and the big complaint was pricing. Though, I've got to be honest, I found their prices to be very fair and comparable to other shops in the area. Only a handful of cigars were well beyond MSRP. I'm not 100% sure if the area with it's college kids and young professionals will be able to financially support a Casa de Montecristo, but only time will tell. I hope they make it because having two locations in the same city is a good look for Tampa Bay, especially coupled with the fact that Davidoff is thriving and Thompson Cigar has been purchased by the Scandinavian Tobacco Group, which is the largest Cigar company in the world. Top that off with the rich cigar history of Ybor, and Tampa is once again the tobacco powerhouse is once was in the 1800s. read more

Casa de Monte Cristo has a small but decent selection of cigars and while the staff overall is nice one major problem remains. They do not offer military discounts which in my mind is bad enough, but what makes matters even worse is that they tell you they offer a military discount if you join their club, and after joining you still get no discount and are instead told that the "discount" is double shopping points. In my view, that's disingenuous. There's a difference between a discount and earning points from purchases. I understand that points can ultimately add up and EVENTUALLY equate to a discount; but they should not be conflated as one and the same. The employees should be ashamed of themselves for telling members of the military community they will get a military discount by joining their club and then failing to give them any percentage off of their purchase (unless they have points to use). Other cigar retailers in the Tampa area offer genuine military discounts to those who serve/served, and if you are a cigar business near a military base where a large percentage of your customer base are likely members of the military community you should too (that's for you Casa de Monte Cristo)! Also, parking is extremely limited and the place is rather small and crowded especially on weekends. read more

Stopped in last night. Place was pretty busy and it was probably 11:30 pm. We sat in the corner. Ordered a few beers and a rum and coke. I have no idea what they paid for those as I didn't see the receipt. Very high ceilings with air purifiers running constantly while we were there. There were no fans oscillating the air so the smoke was hanging in the air and it started getting to my eyes and lungs. I am at the point in my life I support my husband and he loves cigars. The 2 friends were were with also smoke cigars. I am the only one that does not. So sitting here got a bit uncomfortable for me as it was so smoky. I would have loved to sit outside but there is no seating for four people other than at a straight bar that faces the street. It isn't conducive to a comfortable chat for 4. Staff was very friendly. Let us finish their cigars on the patio out front after they closed. Area was busy and looked like everyone was headed home at about 1:30 am. read more

The following review is simply from the perspective of a new cigar smoker. Upon entry, I have been met with one of the employees named Dom. D. He is extremely knowledgeable in a wide range of cigars. Not knowing where to start, Dom was able to assist me in explaining the differences between flavors and experiences. He is great with providing perspective to anyone at any level. I have observed him working with others and they too have expressed their thankfulness. There is no pressure and Dom is also able to assist with progression. Every cigar that Dom has recommended was as is. Besides, us both being from jersey also helped in establishing rapport! The environment, while quite smokey, makes for a good in and out for someone not interested in being exposed to heavy smoke. I have made Casa de Monte Cristo a favorite to shop. read more

I guess being Hispanic and walking with tour family is not very pleasing for the bald guy in front of the bar. Was in Tampa on business and needed a few sticks while in town. I saw the good reviews on here so figured I'd give the place a try. Man was I surprised at how nice the place was. Had an enormous fully stocked humidor, great bar with some nice top shelf bourbons and scotches comfy area with leather chairs and sofas to relax on. As soon as I walked was treated by the bartender Rob and asked if I'd been in here before and offered a quick tour of place. He then showed me in humidor and asked if I had a preference to a stick or if I had any questions he could answer. Told him I was going to browse and before excusing himself asked if I want a cocktail? Told Bulliet on rocks and said it'd be at bar waiting for me.
