Fun experience- this was recommended as the go to cigar experience by a few locals we spoke with. I appreciated personally the comment and experience of a heavy female run staff made the experience more comfortable especially since we had no clue really what we were doing having only been to a cigar lounge in our hometown once before! The shop part is separate and they were helpful with picking out a cigar for us. Note they only serve drinks and no outside food is allowed in- we ordered cocktails but they also have a full coffee and tea menu. We picked a set of comfy seats that had a view of the street it was fun to just sit and kind of people watch! They also have nice filtration system going on inside if you're worried about it being smoky otherwise there is outdoor seating as well. We both brought our own cigars and without informing, they charged us a $9.95 fee each for not buying one of their cigars, even though we spent a nice amount of drinks. Excellent selection, better prices than other places, helpful staff (the brown haired haired dude with the beard who helped me pick out my Black Diamond was really nice and waitress Maddie is always a PLEASURE) who help you pick good choices and get your (very good) drinks/food to you quickly. My only complaint? Why isn't the kitchen open 7 days a week, took PTO on a Tuesday hungry, thirsty and hankering for a stogie, come to find out kitchen is closed Monday and Tuesday. This was my next stop after sipping brews at Rock Brothers Brewery; the walk wasn't too far and I noticed this upon seeing the cigar smoke from the patio area. In the mood for a cigar, I went with a monte christo that the staff cut for me and sat outside to enjoy the smoke while people watching. I saw some interesting characters stroll through Ybor as I puffed my cigar. Paired it with a glass of Zinfandel as wine goes well with cigars. They have a bar here so you can get a drink with your smoke or just drink here if you like. There's tvs inside as well as some people were smoking while watching sports. King Corona is a fixture in Ybor city. In Ybor city there are many cigar shops which hand roll cigars, etc. If you are looking for a cigar lounge with sports on TVs, drafts, craft beer, spirits and a great selection of premium cigars, King Corona is a no brainer. It has taken me a while to write this review because I have mixed feelings about the service here. On the one hand, there is the service from the cigar side which is phenomenal. They know their cigars and go above and beyond to make the experience here exceptional. Shouts out to Kaylor (excuse the spelling). She is a keeper. The bar side of King Corona for me was a very different experience, maybe sometimes they were busy. Or maybe I don't look like their average customer. I am not sure and I don't want to jump to conclusions, but I am usually in humble clothing, have naturally long curly hair and I usually carrying a back pack which actually contains my travel humidor. I had one good experience out of 3 on the bar side and 2 not so great experiences. And maybe it was me being over sensitive, I am not sure. But on two occasions I didn't have the best experience. It may be because the bartenders are responsible for service at the bar and the outside tables, along with service on the inside. Usually though when I get that kind of service it is based on something else. With all that said, King Corona has a great cigar selection. They have outside seating and an inside lounge area. It is more like a sports bar where you can smoke cigars. They have free wifi, which is actually fast. And the service overall is quite good. And most importantly during this time of Covid, they open early and close later than most places where you can get a good craft beer. read more

Friendly staff but the King Corona cigar I smoked was a pretty bad experience. It started out well but about half way through it would no longer burn evenly and continued to go out. After having the re-light is 3 times I just gave up and threw away what was left. The $12 I spent could have gone towards a name brand stick. read more

Used to be a staple of ybor until the new owners. Unfortunately most of the changes made to the establishment really took the place in a different direction. They no longer offer any sort of draft beer (like none at all). The food menu is drastically shortened (the muffalata was like "the" sandwich to get here, along with a few salads). No more sangria's also. I bought 3 cigars today and 2 of them are incredibly dry to the point I have to re-hidrate them before I smoke them at home. I've been coming to this establishment for a solid 13 years and it has been a place I've always recommended, and have taken people that visit Tampa for an afternoon drink/smoke, but no more. It's unfortunate but with so many other choices it'll be hard to get me back anytime soon. The only positive that remains is really the service staff. At least they haven't changed that. read more

Seven of us, members of a cigar club, drove up from Venice FL at around 11 AM to hop lounges in Ybor City FL and when we stopped in this great cigar lounge around 6:30 PM, it was fairly quiet with lots of room inside being available, while the outside porch was quite busy and rather packed. So, we grabbed a table inside, with seven chairs, and seated ourselves. Our server was Kaylor. She was quick and efficient with our needs. Drinks came very fast, accurately delivered to the table, we got a few cigars and we hung out for 2.5 hours. There is a large selection of cigars and drinks. It was a delightful experience and our cigar club attendees were glad we ventured in here. We will return in the future and certainly recommend this location to others. read more

Great cigar selection, great food. Beware that sometimes they close the kitchen due to lack of staff. Girl at the drink bar does a great job but management isn't supporting her in getting kitchen help. Ordered at lunch while there watching World Cup and took an hour and a half to get an order of Cuban bread. For those that don't know it's Cuban bread with butter and toasted which literally takes 5 minutes. Probably the best cigar shop I stopped in during my vacation run. First of all, it's perfect darkness level inside. Kinda like how the cigars are displayed behind sliding glass doors where you just serve yourself. Good selection of name brand cigars, with a few house cigars. Long bar top, plenty of stools, some local craft on tap with full bar. Good sized room, some chairs, tables, a row of tables up at the front window and some tables and chairs outside as well. Nice that you can sit outside and smoke around here. Like it, but sat at the nice air conditioned, dark, bar and had a few drinks. Staff really friendly. Answer your questions, service was good. I understand they have a kitchen and serve food but I didn't eat anything. Very relaxing, low music, several TV's going on different channels, volume down. Obviously the cigars, but more the great people watching sitting outside with a cold brew and a fine smoke. But, the best kept secret is the food!! Seriously! The cuban and mojo pork sandwiches here are some of the best in Tampa and at $7 they are a great value. Salads are huge and freshly made. Even if you don't smoke, stop in for the food. You won't be disappointed. The beer selection is pretty good. They usually have a couple beers and a couple ciders on draft. Avg. bottle price is around $5. Wine is available as well. Sangria is $8/pint though I cannot comment as I've never had it. Cigar selection is wide ranging and well priced. Parking is best in the garage just to the south for $3. Street parking is rare and only when one of the limited spots opens up. But it's always fun to watch people trying to fit a full size car in a space big enough for a Smart Car. Good people watching! I found myself in Ybor City after photographing an event just a few blocks away. What a wonderful little place to explore!! In the early 1880s, Tampa was an isolated village with a population of less than 1000 and a struggling economy. However, its combination of a good port, Henry Plant's new railroad line, and humid climate attracted the attention of Vicente Martinez Ybor, a prominent Spanish-born cigar manufacturer. Ybor had moved his cigar-making operation from Cuba to Key West, Florida in 1869, due to political turmoil in the then-Spanish colony. But, labor unrest and the lack of room for expansion had him looking for another base of operations, preferably in his own company town. Ybor considered several communities in the southern United States and decided that an area of sandy scrubland just northeast of Tampa would be the best location. In 1885, the Tampa Board of Trade helped broker an initial purchase of 40 acres of land, and Ybor quickly bought more. Cigar making was a specialized trade, and Tampa did not possess a workforce able to man the new factories. To attract employees, Ybor built hundreds of small houses for the coming influx of mainly Cuban and Spanish cigar workers, many of whom followed him from Key West and Cuba. Other cigar manufacturers, drawn by incentives provided by Ybor to further increase the labor pool, also moved in, quickly making Tampa a major cigar production center. So with all this cigar history, I made it my mission to find one, try it and bring some home to my family. This led me to King Corona. The guy working the counter was very helpful as I knew nothing about cigars. Apparently there's a lot to know, from flavors, costs, sizes, tubes, etc. Some of them were even made locally still, which I thought was Ybor cool. lol. Not funny? I decided on a small, Amaretto flavored one. I wasn't in it for the cigar, I was in it for the experience so he cut it for me and, conveniently located on the other side of the store, is a cafe with some amazing iced Cuban coffee. Score! It was quite yummy too. While enjoying my cigar and coffee, an older, round man with a Fedora settled in outside with his cigar. This is Tampa! Great experience all around! read more

This is my cigar spot in Tampa, FL! If you're looking for a cigar spot with a huge selection of cigars, a full bar, and knowledgeable staff, King Corona Cigars is the place for you. I've been there twice and my experience has been excellent each time. They have outdoor seating in these COVID times, you can still have a stick and be safe. Seating on the inside is socially distance so no worries there. All of the cigars are market price so it's extremely economical. I was also able to have my drink of choice (Grand Marnier) with my Padron 1964 series cigar. Overall, excellent atmosphere and great quality. Next time I'm in Tampa, this is stop number 1. read more
