The beautiful statues, carved wood, and stained glass windows looked awe inspiring with the lighting. There are so many sitting areas, nooks, stairs, and balconies. It felt more Hogwarts than a church. It's really hard to describe the atmosphere. The vibes were impeccable. I enjoyed a cigar brand event while there. There was also a tasting of a spirit. Attended a private Makers Mark event at this refurbished Cathedral. Interesting atmosphere and space. Huge cigar shop inside along with different tiered memberships that cater to all budgets. Ample space for the smoke to funnel out and a lot of natural moody lighting. There was live music playing outside and the bartender made a great old fashioned for certain. This place gets very crowded and loud. I will have to visit the location again and give it another shot and hang out at the Koi pond outside more. A note, bring mosquito spray. read more

I had to see a 5 star cigar bar for myself. Especially in a cathedral. Does not disappoint. Indoor seating with sports on tvs and a very well stocked bar with wonderful premium spirits to enjoy. Outdoors is shaded and very comfortable and quiet. Excellent place to relax. The cigar and bar staff is extraordinarily helpful and friendly. Heard about this spot on YouTube. What beautiful place to come to smoke a cigar. The aesthetic's all through out was perfectly executed. Even the bathrooms were relaxing to look at. Surrounded with palms and other beautiful plants lacking in most places despite the weather to grow them. The humidor had a nice selection of cigars, well kept. This is my go to cigar lounge. It is one of the best in a city known for cigars. The first thing to note is the wait staff. They are the best. My two favorites are married to each other and they have come to know the drinks and cigars I like. They are both friendly and personable. There humidor is not the biggest so the selection is not as varied as some other places. That being said they have my favorite cigar the Jesuit. It is a very smooth even burning cigar. The taste is mild which goes good whether I am drinking a dry martini or an old fashioned. The bar is top shelf for whiskey in my opinion. They have all of my favorites. Is it pricey? Yes it is but this is not a dive location. Tampa has plenty. Moving from whiskey they have a good selection of beer and wine. I particularly enjoy their Malbec of which the name I cannot remember. Now nothing is perfect and they have had two hard and fast rules and just added a third. First, no outside liquor which okay no problem. Second no cigars not purchased from them. I can work with that. The newest is no travel humidors. Now this one means that they hold my humidor and I have to go to the counter and get a cigar when I'm ready. We will have to see if that becomes a problem. So this place gets 5 stars. read more

I went to Grand Cathedral a few weeks ago (see check in) with my Brother in law and my Sister. I had been here before to purchase cigars, but didn't stay to smoke them. This time we planned to hang out and have some drinks. If you have never been here, it is an old church that has been turned into a cigar bar. Pros: interesting layout, and design, nice cigar selection and full bar. Cons: The ventilation system was not working or not working well, and you can't bring your own cigars to smoke. We sat outside (because of the lack of ventilation) and waited about ten minutes for someone to come and take our drink order. No one came, so we left. When I go to a cigar lounge I don't mind purchasing a stick or two from the establishment and I am going to order something to drink, but I don't like being told I can't smoke my own cigars. I don't even mind paying a cut fee to smoke my own cigars. Tampa has a lot of options for cigar smoking, unfortunately the Cathedral will move down to the bottom option for me. read more

Hidden gem. Been wanting to try this place and a friend visiting was the excuse we needed. This is an old church in a residential neighborhood converted to a wonderful cigar lounge. Upon entry there is a huge humidor with plenty of selection from moderate to high end. We opted for the very reasonably priced house blend and were not disappointed. They smoked beautifully and lasted almost two hours. Fantastic. We found seats in one of the little alcoves overlooking the bar. Service was prompt, courteous and friendly. We stopped into Grand Cathedral Cigars today and the place is a sight. The old church bones are still there, just dressed up for cigars and conversation. Parking was the first challenge... the lot was full and the overflow is down the corner. Not a huge deal on a sunny day, but I wouldn't feel safe towalk back in the rain or the late evening. Inside, service was right away. They steered us into the humidor, heavy on Fuente, and we each found something quick. Paid up, skipped their cut-and-light since we bring our own tools, then made our way to the lounge. We grabbed a table by the big double doors, probably the old entrance, and I hit the bar for a Crisp, refreshing "Sin and Tonic." It can get loud, but the live guitarist kept the vibe mellow enough. Upstairs has members only seating and rooms, but being out of town we stuck to the main floor. Still, plenty of atmosphere and good spots to settle in.
