Excellent service. The best cafe con leche I've had in ages. I'm sad I don't live closer - I'd be here every day.

Wow this place knocked our socks off! Have only had Cuban food a few times, and this was amazing! Makes me wish they had more Cuban options where I live. The Carne con Papas melted on your mouth it was so good! The Platano Relleno de Picadillo - now that's where my socks got knocked off I can't even tell you how good this was! Even the next day it was just as good as in the restaurant. Speaking of the restaurant itself was really cute and honestly made me think I was underdressed. The waiter was adorable and seemed new but he was just great!

Food was so delicious! We had the fried plantain chips & garlic dipping sauce and a flank steak Cuban sandwich. Excellent!!!!

We chose this restaurant due to the proximity to our hotel as we came in the night before a cruise. It was a short walk away from our hotel to this strip mall area. We were surprised by the number of security in the parking lot. I'm not sure if that is common or not. The restaurant itself was on the smaller side. Servers were quite friendly. They give you a complementary bread and olive oil to dip. The food itself was so so. I ordered my steak, medium rare and it looked like they had to cut it to make sure that it was cooked ok. There was parts of the steak that were actually cold. Luckily I didn't have any problems with my digestive track. My wife had ordered the paella and for whatever reason it didn't taste that good. I'm sure there's many choices when you come to Miami for Latin American food however this was the closest and you can make your own judgment whether you like it or not.

We randomly were looking for food close to the convention center, and let me tell you the food was bustin'. If you plan to dine in, accommodate for more time as we went when it was slightly busy. We were immediately sat, but the food was cooking so it took some time. The rice was great paired with the Ropa. Also the soup it the spot. And I got the lunch special so price point was around $13-$14 which is not bad. If there is one thing you can take away from this review. Get the empanadas. We tried all the flavours: meat, spinach, ropa (shredded beef), chicken. My top was the spinach, it's not like other places, I think they add something to the spinach which makes it bomb. I tried a different place with their spinach empanadas and I was severely disappointed since it tasted just like actually real spinach. But trust. In terms of ranking: Spinach (#1), Ropa - there is bell peppers in it (#2), Chicken (#3), Meat (#4) - honestly tasted like hamburger ground meat for lunch but not in a good way. I would pass on meat completely. But try it for yourself and let me know. Definitely coming back.

This place is so yummy! Breakfasts come with coffee or cafe con leche (delish, creamy, sweet) and are large portions. We got the eggs rancheros -- so yummy! Came with this pepper-y sauce that was savory and not too spicy, paired well with our eggs, bacon, and hashbrowns - and included the coffee option. Everything was tasty and the servers were kind! In a shopping mall so parking is ample.

Found this place on yelp when we were looking for cuban food prior to our flight to South America. Great food and it's obvious that it is popular with the locals when you see big families enjoying a Sunday dinner together.

I was told that when you're in Florida ESPECIALLY Miami you HAVE to get Cuban food. And wow... now…read moreI understand why. As we were driving in, the place already looked beautiful. We came in the evening and immediately, as we walked up, there was music, people laughing, talking, smiling... the energy was incredible. I also loved that there was a bar off to the side while waiting. We ordered a few mojitos and sat outside at the tables and benches, just enjoying the atmosphere. When our name was finally called and we walked inside, I genuinely felt like I was stepping into history. The atmosphere here is unmatched. The music, the aromas, the people. God, I loved it here and I hadn't even tried the food yet. We ordered the braised oxtail (which came with plantains and rice), salmon glazed in guava BBQ sauce, ceviche tropical, assorted empanadas, and a Cuban sandwich. Everything was phenomenal. The sauce paired with the empanadas perfectly. The guava BBQ glaze on the salmon was absolute perfection. It was the perfect combo of sweet, smoky, and flavorful. The ceviche had the perfect acidity and tasted so fresh and refreshing. This is one of the most famous Cuban restaurants in Miami. It completely lives up to the reputation. Highly recommended

DIRT AND MUD IN THE SALAD!!! WATCH OUT…read more We ordered the salad with mango and pecans. They do not wash there lettuce. There was literally dirt/mud at the bottom and I took my first bite and it felt like biting into sand. Upon spitting the food out onto my plate it was black sludge. Literally my tongue and teeth were black. The waiter came by and grabbed the plate when I was in the bathroom. I spent about 10 minutes trying to get that BLACK SLUDGE out of my mouth. When I was spitting out the dirt/mud wife noticed the bus boys laughing at me and there was not a manger in sight. When I asked for a manager he did not even respond. No apology or anything just a look of confusion. Worst experience in a restaurant in my life and I love to eat and have been to many types of restaurant big and small. Cheap and expensive and this one takes the cake. We were so bummed as I see thousands of great reviews. But if there was a zero I would have given zero stars the way they handled the situation. If you eat there in the future make sure to check for DIRT/MUD.

We started with the goat cheese croquettes, which were delicious! The marmalade went well, and the pickles onions and jalapeños cut the richness and were a nice complement. I don't even usually like plantains, and the Maduros were delicious! Oh! And the Passion lemonade was SO GOOD!! Service was friendly and attentive without being intrusive. Regardless when we arrived they sat us outside which is exactly what we were hoping for. Our server was nice at first. Explained all the popular dishes got our drinks out very quickly. I think she stole our table from someone else because shortly after someone came and we told them we put our order in and he seemed a little bothered. Unfortunately, our other server disappeared and never checked up on us. We pretty much didn't have any napkins during our entire duration of our meal. At least that part was good. We started off with a couple of mojitos and their Vaca Frita Tostones. You get these homemade maduro tostones topped off with shreeded beef in a moon sauce, pickled onion, and aji Amarillo aioli. A very delicious dish that didn't last long. Shortly after we received our main dish. I really hate when they do that. My wife ordered their Abuelas Ropa Vieja and I ordered their Masa de Puerco Chino. My wife didn't really care for her dish much. We've had plenty of Ropa Vieja before and would have preferred a congri type of rice as opppsed to just plain white rice. My dish was 10/10. Like in the name of "chino" this is an Asian inspired dish with fried rice, maduros, pineapple confit and crispy pork. A very delicious dish. It could have don't without the little salad on top, but at least it ads color to the dish. The crispy pork tasted so amazing and the fried had so much flavor. Mix in some of the maduros and you get a sweet and savory dish. Would definitely be returning to try this dish again.

We ordered the Cuban sandwich and the Cuban burger, and honestly both were dangerously good. The Cuban sandwich was exactly what you hope for -- crispy bread, perfectly pressed, packed with flavor, and the kind of sandwich that makes you pause mid-bite and just nod at the person across from you like "yep... this was the right decision." The Cuban burger was also fantastic -- juicy, flavorful, and big enough that you start questioning whether you should have skipped breakfast. The area around the restaurant was great too. Nice vibe, good energy, and perfect for walking around before or after eating... which you will probably need to do after finishing that burger. The servers were good -- friendly, attentive, and thankfully didn't judge us for attacking the food like we hadn't eaten in three business days. Overall the place has a fun atmosphere, great Cuban comfort food, and the kind of menu that makes you want to come back just to try the things you didn't order the first time. Highly recommend... just be prepared to leave full and slightly considering a nap. 10/10 would happily destroy another Cuban sandwich there again.

We stopped here at this one on Espanola Way for dinner on a Sunday, primarily because we had somewhere else in this area to be afterward, and while most every place on this touristy street was packed with a wait list, this restaurant could seat us right away. Service was good all evening from an outgoing waiter, this place was great for people watching (we were seated at a high top on the sidewalk in front), the food was good and the prices were reasonable, especially considering that Espanola Way is one of the most touristy areas on already touristy Miami Beach. I had the signature roasted chicken ($28) and my husband the Cuban churrasco steak ($42) and both included sides. We also had a glass of wine each and again, wine prices were reasonable. While we don't tend to eat in this general area often as it is so touristy which usually equals lackluster food and service at high prices, Havana 1957 was just fine. I'd happily return here.
