What a delicious welcome to Miami. On our first night, we adventured into locals territory to have a hearty Nicaraguan dinner for our tired travel day selves. Javier was an amazing host and gave us the devoted attention he would have as if we were Guests in his home. For the five of us weary travelers we ordered: Two orders of the Parrillada Guayacan Queso Frito Yucca Frita Chanchito Frito Avocado Ensalada Many rounds of Toña and Flor de Caña Hubs is a proud Nicaraguan and he said this meal took him back home. Delicious food. Try it once and you will be a regular customer. Last minute let's go out choice for the night was Guayacan Restaurant. Living literally minutes from this restaurant I couldn't figure out why we've never been here before. But got word from a friend that should try it out and here we were. Located on sw 8th street in Little Havana, this place has a private parking lot and more importantly its Free! Which if you know the area, it's like finding gold. It was simple yet delicious. Also thought it was a good portion size to share. For entree we decided to go with the Parrillada Guayacan. It was a massive platter of all their top hits. Grilled steak, chicken, pork and sausage along with fried cheese, plantain chips, fried plantains and rice and beans. All the meats were cooked and season perfectly. The fried cheese was super addicting. It states for two but you'll definitely have left overs. My son had the chicken tenders with fries. And normally this is an after thought in most restaurants and we get the frozen variety. So it's refreshing to see that these were hand breaded and fried fresh. Everything was on point and delicious. The chimichurri was also fresh. Javier also recommended a typical Nicaraguan dessert, Pio Quinto which was a perfect balance of textures and just sweet enough. Good little Nica restaurant on Calle ocho! I usually order from Guayacan on Uber eats so I decided to dine in. The staff was very friendly and accommodating from the moment we arrived. The location is amazing (super hip part of town and so close to all the downtown nightlife) and the family who runs the Guayacan has been doing this for literally DECADES, and it shows! I ordered the pechuga de pollo encebollada (chicken with caramelized onion) which came with two sides and a soup or a salad, so really it's three sides... definitely worth your money. The salad was great. Even the regular menu items are worth it with the portion sizes. The fried cheese app was amazing and the taquitos were pretty tasty also. Great nica restaurant located in little havana. I start off with the 5 stars because unlike many of the restaurants in this area they actually have their own parking lot. Although the lot is not very large it at least gives you some option of parking without having to pay or search in this area. I came here for dinner with friends and was ok leasabtly surprised. There were only a couple of people in the restaurant but I was greeted as soon as I walked in. As I sat down they asked me what I wanted to drink. Went for some wine with the Malbec they had. Delicious. I decided to go big or go home and got the tipitapi fried fish. The fish came out whole, deep fried and soaked in a tomato based sauce. It was divine! Incredibly dated atmosphere, serving good food but it definitively could be better. The seating needs a remodel, everything looks clunky and passe. The TV screens showing a novela also need a better service, the image is blurry, just turn off the TVs. The food is decent, the meat cuts are not the best but they would do, if you are in the area, if you don't know much about prime cuts either. Truly legit. If you want tasty, fresh food, Guayacan is the place for you. Guayacan is located on 8th street about a block away from most of the hustle and bustle of regular 8th street traffic. The building isn't much to look at. It isn't a fancy looking place and you'll pass by it if you're not looking as it doesn't jump out at you. But should you venture in, you will be in for a treat! They even have parking! We were a party of 7 and didn't have to wait super long for a table. The waitstaff was very friendly and helpful. We came with a few friends that were unfamiliar withNicaraguan food and our waiter was clearly versed in all the dishes. We ordered a nice bottle of Chilean red wine. It was dry and bold. Right up my alley! They also have beer for the beer lovers. I ordered the Nicaraguan churrasco that came with friend sweet plantains, rice and beans (Gallo pinto). Come hungry because the portions are huge! The food was absolutely fantastic! The churrasco was cooked to perfect, medium, how I like it! It came with slices of bell pepper and onion, just lovely! My first time here today and I will definitely be back. I was loving the hospitality of everyone here. We were seated right away and we were able to get a parking spot in the lot. Once seated, we were greated and given water and garlic with butter bread... it was so good! We ordered so much food. I'm not a fish eater but 3 of the 7 people with me ate fish and they loved it.. ate the while thing. I had chicken and rice with beans and maduros. My family and I have been coming here since I was 5 yrs old, I still remember the days they had a gentleman come around with his guitar and sing "niña bonita" for me.
