Our anniversary dinner.
Lisa D.

I want to say excellent from walking in to the service to the delicious food. My pork carnitas were sublime. The two cheese enchiladas hubby ordered were wolfed down. We ate a pork tamale and I'll go back for my meal and take some tamales home. So good. The waitstaff outdid themselves, super friendly and accommodating. We will definitely go back. Finally found our Mexican restaurant in our hood. Muy bueno!!!!

Tinga enchiladas.... Very good

Loved the homemade salsa. Slightly sweet and spicy at the same time. The bean dip was a nIce addition. Had the tinga enchiladas. They were really good. Portions were perfect. Nice atmosphere inside and staff were very pleasant and attentive. Great meal.

Well the first thing I noticed is the wait staff. Every one of them were so friendly, and accommodating. We felt special. We are new to the area and finally found a great Mexican restaurant. They serve scrumptious warm chips with an outrageous superbly flavorful salsa and a bean dip. I had the carnitas which were a plenty with huge cubes of the pork cooked to perfection. Yummy refried beans with a dollop of jalapeño maize and delicious Spanish rice with guacamole and pico de gallo. I could eat that maize all day long! What a fab flavor! All muy bueno! I got the corn tortillas and they were great served in a nice warming dish. My husband had one pork tamale and two cheese enchiladas. He loved his meal. I tasted the tamale and yea I'm getting that next time! I appreciate this new find for us. I can tell the restaurant has good business because they had a steady stream of customers throughout our stay. It's right off highway 49 on the way to Grass Valley. Go, run and just enjoy their food!

I got the Enchiladas Veganas: Two Corn Tortillas stuffed with Black Beans, covered with our House Green Sauce.

I read they had vegan choices and found they have a whole vegan menu! Great place for hubs and I to eat together. We travel through this area weekly been wanting to stop. Their limited hours of opening at 3p has been hard to work around til today. I got the Enchiladas Veganas: Two Corn Tortillas stuffed with Black Beans, covered with our House Green Sauce. The house green sauce was outstanding and a pleasant surprise. My mamby pamby liquified green taco sauce. It was a flavorful chunky vegetable sauce that really made me feel I wasn't a vegan after thought. Our orders were to go because we had our dog with us. No outdoor seating, but lots of shady parking. We ate in the car. A new manager named Dakota was a delight and informational. Steering hubs and I through the menu being our first time. He also told us about plans to create an outdoor space for people with Togo orders with or without dogs to eat.

Excellent! from start to finish ~ beautiful open space. I'm an "OG", from their original location, and they never disappoint! We drive up from Rocklin for the greatness. Thank you, Dakota!

Decided to try our neighborhood Mexican restaurant. Overall the food was decent. Customer service was wonderful & the food was prepared quickly! (We did a to go order and called ahead for the drive-thru) My fiancé greatly enjoyed the burrito Suizo & thought it was very flavorful with tender meat and a great sauce. The tamalito was pretty dry and did not have a ton of flavor.. we added a bit of butter & cheese ourselves. I had asked for a side of queso to go with our chips however we got a cup of shredded cheese.. so make sure you specify queso dip. The chips lacked salt & the pico de gallo also lacked salt. We added a little bit of salt which did help! The house salsa is delicious. The carrot cake looks & smells amazing.. but the carrot flavor wasn't very strong. The texture of the cake is similar to gelatin. The price was about $54 + a tip. For the convenient location & neighborly feel, it is not that bad. However compared to other Mexican restaurants in Nevada county there is plenty of room for improvements:)

Skip this place for a taqueria. Not the best Mexican this county has to offer. Over priced, not the best.

Easily one of my favorite New Mexican spots in grass valley!…read more This place is so cute inside and seating is plentiful Service here is outstanding I have zero complaints We all ordered tacos and left here with the biggest smiles on our faces truly amazing food The drinks here are STRONG not a complaint just a warning I loved my watermelon margarita. This is a great spot for friends and family at any time of day we came here for dinner and will be definitely coming back soon for lunch

*review based on brief bar experience only - no food*…read more It was an interesting experience for us as we wandered in for drinks while we waited for our Thai food we ordered Nextdoor. The bar is directly at the entrance, and they seemed to have gotten busy just shortly after we arrived. We had someone take our order, then another person take our order awhile later stating it wasn't inputted. When asking the bar tender for recommendations, he was less than helpful. He seemed like he wasn't very experienced at the bar, and after observing for awhile we realized that everyone in the restaurant seemed to be wearing all hats. Seating, serving, tending bar, ect. I think they could definitely benefit from some structured responsibilities for the individuals on staff- you know what they say- jack of all trades but master of none. At the end of the day, our drinks were okay, but we watched them pour one directly out of a can. They also didn't ask if we wanted blended margaritas or on Ice, so I guess next time I should plan to specify. I would try this establishment again, and look forward to the whole dining experience, in a few months. I think they just have a few kinks to work out :)

" STOP SCROLLING - If you're in Grass Valley and haven't hit up **El Barrio Mexican Market** yet,…read morewhat are you even doing with your life?! I rolled up and ordered the **shrimp burrito**, expecting solid street-style Mexican vibes. Holy mole, was I underprepared. That FIRST bite? Straight fireworks - juicy, perfectly seasoned shrimp exploding with flavor, fresh ingredients, that ideal tortilla hug. I thought, 'Okay, this is already elite.' Then came the second bite... third... fourth... and by the FIFTH bite? Pure transcendence. The flavors just kept building, layering heat, zest, and that addictive savory punch without ever overwhelming. It didn't peak early - it escalated like a boss. Every subsequent bite somehow topped the last, turning a simple burrito into an unforgettable flavor journey. This isn't just food; it's a revelation wrapped in a tortilla. Authentic, made-to-order perfection from a spot that's bringing real corazón to downtown Grass Valley. If you're craving Mexican that hits different, do yourself a favor: get the shrimp burrito at El Barrio. You won't just eat - you'll ascend. 10/10, no notes. Already planning my next visit!"
