This small mexican food place is located in the Fowler Center in Grass Valley ( where B and C and Savmart is). I stopped in here because i had just had a pedicure next door (Bless Nails..my favorite). I have seen people coming in and out to pick up their food to go. It appears they get ptetty busy during lunch time. I wasnt very hungry but wanted to get their carne asada taco ( childrens size) to go. Although the meat flavor was good but they do not offer any conplimentary salsa!! I was a bit shocked because most places in Nevada County offer at least 1 salsa. They were going to charge me 25 cents for a tiny little container so i passed on that. The location offers many employees in this complex to grab a bite to eat. There is limited seating inside. The cook in the back was very friendly and cheerful to everyone walking into this place to order. I think if they offered complimentary chips and salsa then they could be mote competitive . Overall its a great place to get fast mexican food. I wont visit again because there are so many options in Nevada County that offer so much more with your meal.

Cesar is a very gregarious Host'

Cesar's is a great place to go for a quick lunch. Cesar welcomes all his guest with gusto. The food is very Rico and served very fast as this is street food even though it is a little restaurant and not on the Street! It OK though as his inspiration is Street food from all over Mexico. The prices are very reasonable but of course by US standards not like in Mexico! I had the Garbage Burrito which has everything in it. So Delicious! Mi esposa had Tres Tacos (Burria and Pollo Asado). With rice and beans and she said it was very good amd filling. I think we will go today cuz my review made me Mucho Hambre!

Visited June 25 2026. See my receipt …read more Yes...my fav place in Grass Valley! Huge outdoor shaded patio with misters which My puppy enjoyed! This place is classy yet casual. The employees are warm and friendly ( Grass Valley vibe ). We ordered our usual steak fajitas with all the complementary salsas. The dish also comes with rice and beans. I asked for alittle extra sear on the meat and it was perfect! The salsas..especially the habanero was spicy! They have many salsas and they are top notch! All so fresh! We had leftovers as usual and a very happy puppy in a nice shaded patio! Don't miss this place!

No refills on drinks, empty water cups. It took at least half an hour of us being done with our food to receive our check and in the meantime we sat around thirsty wondering where the help went. Stale chips taste like they came from a bag and the salsa was mediocre at best. We were sat outside and they couldn't decide if they wanted the patio open or covered, which was distracting and inconvenient. My husband and I ordered one Cadillac margarita, one Bloody Mary, two shots of Tequila Cazadores, one shot of Tito's, and the taquitos appetizer that is bland and boring AF. $83 before tip. And the shots? I wish I would have taken a picture because they might have been one ounce at best and they were $10 a piece! Absolutely trash designer Mexican food. Please steer clear of this place!! If you are in the area and want legit drinks and Mexican food, check out Katarina's in Alta Sierra.

*review based on brief bar experience only - no food*…read more It was an interesting experience for us as we wandered in for drinks while we waited for our Thai food we ordered Nextdoor. The bar is directly at the entrance, and they seemed to have gotten busy just shortly after we arrived. We had someone take our order, then another person take our order awhile later stating it wasn't inputted. When asking the bar tender for recommendations, he was less than helpful. He seemed like he wasn't very experienced at the bar, and after observing for awhile we realized that everyone in the restaurant seemed to be wearing all hats. Seating, serving, tending bar, ect. I think they could definitely benefit from some structured responsibilities for the individuals on staff- you know what they say- jack of all trades but master of none. At the end of the day, our drinks were okay, but we watched them pour one directly out of a can. They also didn't ask if we wanted blended margaritas or on Ice, so I guess next time I should plan to specify. I would try this establishment again, and look forward to the whole dining experience, in a few months. I think they just have a few kinks to work out :)

They have a huge selection of authentic specialty food items, a takeout restaurant, party decor, home decor, and jewelry--- like you don't even have to go to Mexico. The staff is also the nicest, and in case you need English spoken, they do! I had a housewarming party coming up for about 45 people, so I had El Barrio cater for us without even first trying their food. (I know, crazy, right?) I'd fallen in love with the whole vibe of the store that I wanted to support them, so I took a chance. And I am SO GLAD I did! We ordered 45 taco entrees with 3 types of meat plus 2 types of salsas, rice and beans (--and omg, those pinto beans are to die for)! Every bite of the entree was delicious, and my guests were huge fans, too. We had SO much food left over that most of my guests took some to-go and we STILL had a ton left; luckily we'd bought a bunch of Tupperware just for this reason! I wish I had taken photos of the store and our catered food, but I just wanted to be in the moment and enjoy. Next time I go there maybe I'll record a video of the store and post it here. Till then, you'll have to go for yourself, and I hope you do!

" STOP SCROLLING - If you're in Grass Valley and haven't hit up **El Barrio Mexican Market** yet,…read morewhat are you even doing with your life?! I rolled up and ordered the **shrimp burrito**, expecting solid street-style Mexican vibes. Holy mole, was I underprepared. That FIRST bite? Straight fireworks - juicy, perfectly seasoned shrimp exploding with flavor, fresh ingredients, that ideal tortilla hug. I thought, 'Okay, this is already elite.' Then came the second bite... third... fourth... and by the FIFTH bite? Pure transcendence. The flavors just kept building, layering heat, zest, and that addictive savory punch without ever overwhelming. It didn't peak early - it escalated like a boss. Every subsequent bite somehow topped the last, turning a simple burrito into an unforgettable flavor journey. This isn't just food; it's a revelation wrapped in a tortilla. Authentic, made-to-order perfection from a spot that's bringing real corazón to downtown Grass Valley. If you're craving Mexican that hits different, do yourself a favor: get the shrimp burrito at El Barrio. You won't just eat - you'll ascend. 10/10, no notes. Already planning my next visit!"
