The place looks very cool and they do have a separate room for large parties. I can't comment on the bar we didn't drink. Tried a couple things: carne Asada enchilada with red sauce, chicken enchilada with suiza, mahi mahi tacos and their queso dip. We were pretty disappointed for 18.99 each. The carne asada was not edible tasted like boiled meat? The queso was bland and tasted more like velveeta. The mahi mahi was fresh but the mango salsa had pineapple in it and that was not expected or liked. The chicken suiza was very good and the only reason for 2 stars. A fountain drink is 5.99!! Coming from San Jose, my expectations for $20 a plate was a lot higher. I don't think their beans are salsa were very good either. All in all, very pricey for the quality of food. I popped in for a solo lunch as my wife had an appointment nearby. The waiter suggested a special of a mahi mahi taco platter. They were giant but also excellent. The rice and bean sides were also flavorful. This place is generally busy with a regular lunch crowd and it's easy to see why that is so. It's easy to miss the location in Fiddler Green Plaza, and it can be difficult to pull out on a busy day. It's worth it. read more

Little family owned restaurant up in Auburn that we stopped into while out on a bike ride. Everything was great, including the little daughter coming out to greet us and take our order. Our group of 9 men showed up about noon on a Thursday. It's a spacious place so it can easily accommodate a group like us. As we arrived we were seated and our beer orders taken. We are a known group to the manager and he welcomed us. Chips and salsa were served and our orders were taken. We ordered across the menu and everything was excellent. There is a lot to like about their food. First off, there is flavor in everything and a little heat - not too much but just right. The salsa w the chips has its own unique flavor. I ordered the Enmolada (chicken enchilada w mole and sesame seeds) again a very unique mole - tasty, good and different. Their refried beans had.....flavor and heat! Maybe the best I've ever had and I tend to "black bean it". I asked our server what they did and "chorizo" was his answer. Amazing. The rice was the only disappointment- pretty bland. Not bad just neutral. At the end of the meal, another server came around with sweet Mexican pastries for free. I was too full to try but I'm definitely coming back! The service was very good and engaging. The decor was nice w a covered outside patio for summer days. What a little gem to find in Auburn. Well worth the trip off the freeway for some authentic Mexican food. The staff was welcoming and the service was fast, and if felt like a typical Mexican restaurant (in a good way). We sat down, and were offered chips and guac and salsa. They were so fresh and delicious that we kept munching on them. I ordered the steak tacos and my daughter ordered a wet burrito. Both were excellent. The steak tacos were almost overfilled with scrumptious meat and seasoned perfectly. My daughter's burrito was also delicious and absolutely massive. I was impressed with the amount of food and the pricing. You felt like you got more than your money's worth, which always feels like a win. They're chili Verde used to have large chunks of pork and a very good sauce with rice and beans of your choice. Served hot with your choice of corn flour tortillas. My last two visits there have left me very unsatisfied . The chunks of pork are smaller than dice at a craps table. The sauce tasted like it came from a can. The whole plate was not hot. It was tepid. I had to ask three separate people for water the third one who brought me my meal got me my water, but he came back when I was 3/4 of the way through my meal and to top it off, I never got my tortillas.
