Great restaurant! I came here for lunch and I enjoyed their steak tacos and their mojito. The menu advertised 3 tacos with 3 free toppings but they only gave me two tacos with two toppings. However, the portions were decent so I didn't mind, but a leftover would've been nice. Other than that, the food tasted great and their mojitos are very refreshing! Basic Mexican American type of food. Casa Maya is one of the many such places in Shorewood. It has a lot of the expected things. For sure it could be a lot better but it's usually good enough. The prices are kind of high for portions. A place we came to for lunch. It's just pretty much a lot like so many of these others that have the not so authentic menu. The restaurant is big enough for groups and there's also a patio. Has better drinks than food to be honest. It's about $12 for a jumbo margarita. The cucumber one is more of a unique flavor that's not as common at these corporate type of restaurants. It's about $15 for a burrito. We each got the Veggie Burrito with it being one of the few non meaty options. I left off the cheese and sour cream. Still had tons in it. There were beans, guacamole and rice along with onions, peppers, and tomatoes. Casual restaurant with offerings for the whole family. It's closed Mondays. This restaurant is located right on the main road of West Jefferson Street. It's like a small strip mall where there are other shops located next to it. They have a big parking spot in front of the restaurant. They have a great menu options with quite a few vegetarian options. Additionally, their rice is cooked with water and not chicken or bone broth. They have a great customer service and they answered all the questions we had. Decided to try this instead of the Thai restaurant down the street & will say HUGE mistake. The place is very clean and nicely decorated. Staff is nice. However. This is not a Mexican restaurant. Chips and salsa to start.. salsa was not great, it was ok. Ordered green chicken enchiladas those were decent but it came with rice and beans && let me tellllllll you, it tasted like the most white washed rice and beans ever. The horchata is $7 for a large & I'll say it should be about $3 because tasted nothing like real Horchata. My husband ordered a STEAK torta... it was not good. Ended up paying around $60. read more

Vegetarians steer away. I order the vegetarian burrito with black beans and the last 3 times I've ordered it from here have made my item inconsistently and each time I found a piece of dark meat in my burrito and I cannot eat the food due to dietary restrictions. Unfortunately I do not recommend this place. They can never get my burrito right; either an ingredient is missing or a new ingredient is added that wasn't in it the previous time, so their menu is very inconsistent. Let's start off with the service. The service was really good, nice people and there are people to help. Next the ambiance, it was very calm the music wasn't to loud. It was traditional Mexican music. Finally, the food, it was very off putting. The food looked absolutely amazing but when it came to the flavor it was not what I was thinking it was. It's a little pricy but the margaritas and food are both delicious. I had no problem with the service either, it was friendly, attentive, and efficient. Yes I would recommend. My server said they had a tough time when they first opened the new location which probably explains some of the poor reviews from about that time. But it only took them 12 minutes to prepare my dinner (I timed it) and it was delicious. So I recommend giving them a chance. I will be back. read more

They now serve breakfast as well as lunch and dinner. There is absolute something for everyone. My husband had the Pastor Skillet. It was soooooooooo good. The meat was tasty and tender. Everything was top notch. It came with pancakes that were fluffy and well cooked. I had the Planitain French toast. OMG It was amazing. No syrup needed. The portion size was plentiful. The restaurant lacks the ambiance of their old restaurant. It feels like a diner. We were served by a woman who never greeted us, broke a smile or followed up on our order. The margarita was large but not good. Chips and salsa were included but not a plate to eat from. One of our orders was shrimp and very good. The other was a combo that was so so. It tasted reheated. The rice and bean portions were very small. We asked for extra napkins and got 2. That was for the chips and salsa without a plate. Always a great experience when we go to Casa Maya! Owned by the sweetest family! I love local gems, and I feel this place is one. You can't go wrong with any of the items on their menu. My kids love the shrimp tacos. I enjoy their "bowls" that they serve and the fajitas. My hubby has tried almost everything, but keeps going back to his favorite, which is the Enchiladas suiza. Service was terrible, our waitress never brought out the right drinks nor checked up on us at all. Took over an hour to get our food. Wasn't even busy! We didn't even order a lot either. Once we finally got our food there were multiple things made wrong and missing after we clearly specified in the order and she repeated our order. Staff had a terrible attitude and looked like they didn't want to serve us. Check finally came and she tried charging us for multiple things we didn't order/didn't come out with the food. Very over priced for what you get. I got two beef tacos, aside of fries and a large horchata. Came to $14. The beef wasn't that great - I've gotten better at at other authentic Mexican restaurants. Horchata was delicious! But had I known it was $5 I would've gotten a smaller size - once again, over priced. I've gotten the same quality from others for $2.50, same size. The fries were such a tiny portion. I was actually charged for the Chile sauce for my tacos. How ridiculous! This meal shouldn't have cost me more than $9/$9.50. read more
