What a disappointment! That last time we came to this establishment was when it was called Taco Diner and it was excellent. They had the best El pastor tacos I have ever eaten and I was hoping it would still be the same. Well it wasn't sadly. Their chorizo was the worst I've ever had it didn't even taste like chorizo and their steak which got rave reviews as well as their pastor just stunk. Makes me seriously wonder where people who think it's great have ever eaten Mexican food outside of this place. All the meats to me had the taste and texture like they weee boiled or cooked in water they were like mushy in texture and no taste. Kind of like canned dogfood. Cost us $47 for one enchilada dinner and 3 single tacos (asada, el pastor and chorizo) and 2 drinks which they were out of Coke Zero really the only diet soda we will drink. I think o would have enjoyed Taco Bell better seriously and for less money. We will definitely not be back. Too many other places in the area that are far better than this place. Best steak quesadilla ever period end of story. Best guess they grill the meat first prior to making the quesadilla. We also had the shrimp and Al Pastor taco Mexican style. Both good but the shrimp is better. The Nutella churro was excellent. This is whole in the wall restaurant gives you honest good food with humble prices to match. I don't usually Yelp suburban locations because no one reads it. We'll it's your loss. If you're ever around Bolingbrook come visit this place get the steak quesadilla and don't forget to thank me. read more

¡¡EVERYBODY WANTS SOME!! There's a good reason Taco Dale is one of our favorite Mexican spots. Back when we lived closer to the city, my wife and I went to a few different places to enjoy chips + salsa while getting hammered--Margaritas on Oak Park Ave, Maria's on Harlem Ave--but have yet to find a suitable replacement in Bolingbrook (best we can do are tequila shots at home). We later found out about this delightful place in between Jewel Osco and Panera Bread on Boughton Rd. Though unassuming from the outside, over the years we've grown to love Taco Dale's commitment to authentic, tasty Mexican food. I'd estimate we've been here 10 times since moving to the area in 2020. Chips & salsa are free if you're dining in, otherwise it's $5.50 for carryout orders. Their house margaritas are delicious and fairly priced (starting at $7), plus you can add fruit mix-ins like mango, strawberry, and kiwi. Get 'em frozen or on the rocks! The Mexican style nachos ($5.25 for a 1/2 order) are terrific: individual chips topped with beans, cheese, guacamole, and sour cream. Add meat for $3 more--I recommend steak. Stop wasting your time with lame "American style" nachos, which are 80% dry chips and 20% soggy mess! Enchiladas Suizas ($13) have been my go-to: three tortillas filled w/beef, chicken, carnitas, or cheese, topped with salsa 'rojo' or 'verde' and served with beans, rice, lettuce, tomatoes, and sour cream. The individual tacos ($3.50) are excellent, especially anything 'al pastor'. So far the star of the show has been the 'quesabirria' ($14), a trio of tacos with shredded beef, melted cheese, onions, cilantro, and a cup of consommé. This consommé is a broth similar to an Italian beef gravy or the 'au jus' served with a French dip sandwich, very dunk-able stuff. Bread = 5 Circuses = 4.5 You can get an elote (corn w/mayo, cotija cheese and chili powder) at the adjoining counter, regular ($4.25) or large ($7). They also have walking tacos (bag of fritos w/chili, cheese and onions) for $7. A large horchata is $3.25, bottled Jarritos are $3. Desserts include churros ($3.50), flan ($4.25), and scooped ice cream. They've got a freezer filled with paletas (frozen fruit bars) which come in two varieties: water-based for $2.75 (mango con chile, watermelon, strawberry) and cream-based for $3 (piña colada, pistachio, chocolate). The staff have always been kind and do their best to keep up with high demand of hungry patrons. I can't think of a single instance where our order got messed up or we were less than satisfied with something off of the menu. This Taco Dale has a VERY consistent track record.....they're basically batting 1.000. * TL;DR * There are other Taco Dale locations in Aurora, Lisle, and Romeoville, but this one is ours and we absolutely adore them. Taco Dale is several orders of magnitude better than whatever refried nonsense gets served at Casa Margarita. For what it's worth, I think Taco Dale also has better food than On the Border (although I dig the atmosphere and drinks better @ OTB). Food and drink are a good value and the dining area is brightly lit. Cinco de Mayo gets NUTS (avoid May 5th unless you're cool with tons of people and/or a ridiculously long wait) and weekends can get crowded at times. They all just sit there in the fridge while the big container has the liquid moving at all times. Amazing food in an unassuming strip mall. When you walk inside it is a lot bigger than you would imagine. I got the Birria Taco dinner that included refried beans and rice. The tacos dipped in the consommé satisfied that birria fix. The rice on its own was really flavorful. I have been to a lot of Mexican restaraunts where orange colored rice just tastes like regular rice. This had a limey zesty flavor. My wife ordered a virgin pina colado which looked beautiful with its garnishments. Looked like the fancy pina colada I had ever seen. We got the original nachos. The guacamole was nice and chunky. My only suggestion would be to ask for less sour cream, unless you like sour cream. read more

Food is good no question. The service is terrible!! My first margarita took awhile to arrive. I had to cancel a second margarita because we were pretty much done eating and it never came. They offer no apologies. The people next to us had to get up and ask for chips and salsa and again they had to ask for their dinner. It's one thing to be short staffed but to offer no customer service is another. I felt like they were doing me a favor starting from my order at the register. This place is so good that I've been to it 3 times this past month at two different locations! I cant believe it took me this long to try this place. The food is incredible, the prices are relatively inexpensive, the restaurants are always pretty clean, service is outstanding and there is always parking! Now lets get to the stars of the show, the Char-broiled Steak/Asada, the El Pastor and the Chorizo. The Char-broiled Steak/Asada is soooooo good, I could eat this with anthing! I would recommend to try this or the Pastor in a burrito, taco, or torta. I will be back to try the Birrias and the Shrimp. The menu is pretty expansive, everything that I have tried is good. Even the Complimentary Chips basket. Service is very good in the Lisle location and pretty busy all of the time. I would recommend ordering online for pickups if possible unless you are dining there. The only drawbacks for me so far is the Hot Salsa and the Nachos are average at best. The Medium Salsa is good, the Hot needs some more flavor. There are a lot of very good Mexican restaurants in this area, make sure to try Taco Dale first! read more

Got steak tacos for my husband and I one day for lunch. I had ordered flour and they gave us both corn, but no big deal. They were good so I decided to go back for dinner recently. My husband ordered a burrito and a chicken quesadilla. I ordered a chicken burrito bowl. The chicken used for the quesadilla and burrito bowl had pretty much no flavor. It seemed like boiled chicken, not grilled, and was just lacking seasoning. I was expecting something like Chipotle for the burrito bowl and you can see from the picture, that it looks nothing like that. The quesadilla was soggy, the guacamole not good. The food is good here, however every time I go here they get my order wrong. I've visited this location 7 different times all to go orders, every single time I go to open my food it's either missing ingredients. the beans or the rice. Today was no different as I order the mix taco dinner and ask them to add cheese, well once again they gave me cheese only and left all other ingredients out. This place used to be great and never got anything wrong, that is no longer the case. The last few times we've ordered, they either forgot to send something or got the order wrong. Tonight I ordered a Carnitas Burrito. I said NO lettuce, because warm, soggy lettuce is not fun, they added lettuce. I ask for sour cream on the side because I am not fond of sour cream on my Mexican food, I got sour cream in the burrito. I asked for avocado slices to be added as well as onions, that I paid extra for, and didn't get either one. My wife got a taco and said to add onion and NO cilantro, she did not get onion, but did get cilantro. She also got the clad de rey, and they put lettuce in it. Lettuce does not go in that! I'm tired of not getting what I order, and on top of it all, they ask for a tip. For what? To get my order wrong? Is anyone paying attention over there? This is the last time I order from this place! If you don't want to pay attention to what I order and pay for, then I won't give you my business anymore! read more

This is a very cozy place. Looks more like a cafe than a Taco place. The lobby is clean with the contemporary decoration. I was on the way to see my Dr. and found this place from yelp app. This place is not easy to find in this shopping mall. In the end, I found the Payless store first then see this Taco Diner. You will need to order the food at the counter first which is in the back. I know my favorite taco is fish taco. So I quickly decided on the two fish tacos, one steak taco, and rice water (wanted Jamaica but they don't have). The complimentary chips and salsa were great. The tacos came pretty quickly. I loved the fish tacos. The fillet was grilled to a nice brown color without breading and seasoned just right. My favorite type of fish taco. The steak one was pretty good but a bit greasy for me. I actually mentioned this place to the nurse during my appointment. She actually knew this place and said the fish taco was the best.
