Yelp wants to know three things , so here they are: The food. It was not great. Two chicken tacos, "Mexican style" came out with cheese, onions and lettuce. Nope folks, that's not Mexican style. Nevermind that they wrapped them in paper so the tortillas got soggy. The service. Attentive and friendly enough. No complaints from me on that. The ambiance: It's cramped AF. You have to turn sideways to get through the restaurant. I was also seated in a corner booth that felt like I was in a box. They also charged me $5.99 for two tacos when the menu said $4.99. Always great food here and the staff and the owner are absolutely amazing. The best restaurant in town and the atmosphere is great as well.

So far I got here not that long ago but the inviorment is really bad I see ants and flys all around. Shall I even talk about the bathrooms they are really small stink and the paint is coming if the walls but the chips and salsa are really good and the service is good and the tacos are ok read more

I was really impressed with my dinner here recently. I ordered the Pina Vallarta. It was half a pineapple filled with chicken, steak, and shrimp and topped with cheese and grilled pineapple. It came with rice and lettuce, tomato and guacamole. The grilled pineapple was so sweet and juicy and the shrimp were huge. It was a really delicious meal. I ordered a passion fruit margarita as well and it was very good. I was with a large party and it was very busy when we arrived but we got seated quickly and the service was great. Casa Mexican is delightful small colorful Mexican restaurant. It's a local family owned business and has a very authentic feel both inside and out. The food and atmosphere were both good. It's not fancy or high end, but it's a relaxed atmosphere and food that is much better than any fast food chain would offer in my opinion. I will definitely come back next time I'm in town. The staff is friendly and it reminds me of my lunches when I travel to Mexico. My only suggestion would be to make the chips fresh and offer a fried / crispy taco (my personal favorite). read more

This one is a maybe recommendation for me. The decor is fun and colorful. They have plenty of TV's with sports on. Our food was basic Midwest Mexican food. I wouldn't call it completely authentic, more Americanized. For instance: chips and salsa are ample, but salsa is closer to ketchup than salsa, chips had and aftertaste I have come to associate with older chips. My enchilada was basically a rolled up tortilla with cheese, no sauce (or maybe just a tiny bit?). I didn't finish it because it was bland. However, my husband LOVED his burrito. So - a maybe recommendation. Also, the server (not ours, one who stopped to help) argued with me about the freshness of the guacamole (which I also didn't eat). Our server was very nice and friendly, but also very busy (100% not her fault!!). All in all, there are not many Mexican options for people to compare in the nearby areas, so I might come off as a bit harsh. (I'm a SoCal native / transplant to Michigan). read more

Staying at the hotel next door and thought we had found a gem. I will not be mean. Ordered the chimichanga meal. The lettuce, canned beans and bland rice (which had to pay extra for) were edible. The chimichangas were left on the plate after one bite. While paying for "dinner" I showed my Texas license to the register lady, explained my inedible meal, and was told "no, it is not authentic Mexican food" even though the sign says it is. Very disappointing, not appetizing, uncomfortable seats and will never go back. read more

First time here while working in Sandusky area. I was disappointed with the food. The beef taco was literally dripping with grease out the opposite end and the Mexican rice was slightly hard and left a bad aftertaste. The tortilla chips had zero taste and zero salt. The salsa was not even remotely spicy and tasted like watery salsa from a jar. The bathrooms were horrible and the place just looked dirty and run down. Staff wasn't super friendly. I was there with my grandmother and we both thought that the frozen margarita tasted like chemicals. We asked the waiter for a new flavor or a refund and after talking to the manager he said NO!!! We got the fajitas for two. Not the Tex-Mex style we are use to since were from Texas. But they were pretty tasty and quite filling. The chips and salsa were typical Mexican food. The salsa was the better of the two. The service was fairly prompt but severely dry. Not sure I would regular this place even if we lived here.
