Crisoy tacos are in mass produced shells that you could buy in a box at the grocery store. Not a lot of substance to them either. Rice and beans are the same. Chili relleno wasn't fresh. Casa Mexico has been a reliable Mexican restaurant in downtown Eagle for years. I visited for the first time last night with the family. They have an extensive menu of Mexican specialties and combo plates. They also have a full bar. Menu prices range $15 to just under $20 for a dinner meal. They bring complementary chips and salsa to the table which is a nice touch. Service was friendly. Food was comforting and tasty but nothing was over the top delicious. My teen kiddos each ordered a burrito plate and my youngest ordered a kids plate with a taco. Hubby and I shared a combination meal and I had a bowl of soup. I sampled a bit of everything. Their beans are creamy and soupy just the way I like them. The burritos were fine. The kids plate was just enough food for a 12 year old medium to light eater. I enjoyed the avocado tostada with shredded beef the most. The tortilla soup was more of a broth than a hardier creamy soup and it was very good but not worth the $12 price tag. None of the food was spicy but instead it's very mild. I'm sure you can ask for a spicy version if that's your thing. Overall I'd say this is a good choice for a comforting Mexican meal. read more

I downloaded yelp just to give this restaurant and my server a review. I ordered queso and the birria taco platter and it was amazing. Leo has been my server before and is so kind, funny and quick with service. Amazing hospitality. Been eating here since I moved to Boise from Southern California. Southern California has great Mexican restaurants. Casa Mexico is as good as any there. Never had a bad meal there. The staff is amazing, very helpful and friendly. I recommend going there. read more

I went to Casa Mexico on cinco de mayo and had a horrible experience. We had a group of about 10 and when we originally showed up they brought out one basket of chips for the group. That obviously was not enough so we asked for more chips. We waited probably 25-30 minutes just to get chips. They took our drink orders and said it would take a while because they didn't have a bartender in. I thought that was a little ridiculous that they didn't have a bartender working on cinco de mayo of all days. The food was average and the service wasn't great. Oh, it's unfortunate that places like these still exist. While I do empathize with restaurants in this very difficult market, this is not one that I would struggle to see let go. Service was OK, the place is old and feels abandoned. It was about 50% full with mostly booths for everyone to sit. It really just was lackluster in every way. The food was just marginal. It lacked flavor with the exception of the tacos. My wife really enjoyed the chicken tacos. I had a burrito, and it was just OK. The sauce was runny, watery, and it just did not satisfy. I ordered chili Colorado and it tasted like chili ketchup! No spicy to it at all! I asked for hotter salsa. She told me they ran out of the hotter salsa really? Love this place! Every time I'm passing through Eagle I stop at this place. Heard it's been around for years. Forgot to take a picture but Casa Mexico has always been satisfactory. Yesterday I got a strawberry blended margarita. Sometimes I get a blended when I'm looking for something a little less strong but it definitely was t watered down at Casa Mexico I then got the DELICIOUS chicken Carnitas. Only problem with them was wanting even more. The chicken has almost a sweetness to it and the veggies were delicious. If you're gluten free you can get this with corn tortillas on the side or eat it without it. It's like fajitas for people who don't like the attention you get when the hot plate is brought out. Fajitas for shy people haha! My husband got a combo plate that included a tamale and I got to sneak a delicious bite! Staff was all very kind and funny as well! read more

Not impressed with service at all. We sat down and waited at least ten minutes before the waitress came. It didn't seem particularly busy. Placed our order. Ate our food. Our drinks were never refilled. When you pay 2.75 for a soda you should at least get a refill. Someone came by and picked up our dishes when we were finished and then we waited for about ten more minutes before our bill was brought to us. It was almost awkward how long we waited to get the bill. Again not especially busy. The food was good. No complaints about that. Not worth it though when you have to sit and wait so much. I'll drive to other Casa Mexico on Fairview even though it takes longer to get there. The service there is better. read more

Let's list the good things to start. It will be a short list. The salsa that included green onions and cilantro was good. The rice that accompanied each dish was pretty good. The guy who brought our check to the table at the end of our meal was delightfully personable. The list ends there. Had the rest of the food come close to that salsa or any of the service been as friendly as that man, we might pull out a three star rating here. But lackluster service, over salted and bland food and an ambience with potential for warmth but somehow off putting made this a 'one and done', in my husband's vernacular, experience. IT'S NOT ALL IN THE FAMILY We had optimistic expectations heading in for a meal here given we heard the owner of Casa Mexico is a relative of the distaff side of Amigo's in Boise. We're Amigo's fans and hoped good food and service might run in the family to provide us with a Mexican food option closer to home. Not so it seems. LUKEWARM HOSPITALITY There were few people in the restaurant when we arrived on a weekday at late lunch hour. Although there are a couple of attractive seating areas front and rear of the restaurant, the former with mostly tables and chairs and the latter with booths (and a couple of great portraits of Frida Kahlo on the wall), the greeter tried to set us at a two top tucked against the wall right inside the entry door and on the path to the loo. When I asked for a different seat, she set us at a table against a window outside a room partition. I gave up. But not a good start. And as we exited I noted the few other tables of people there had been similarly tucked into tight spaces in awkward locations instead of placed in the more comfortable seating. MENU & FOOD We were presented with laminated multi page menus of Mexican - American standards of combination plates and house specials and sides and the good salsa and a basket of chips. We noted on the menu that for the small salsa bowl and moderate chip basket their was "first one free" with a charge (something $1.50 or under) for refills. I sure hoped the guy who was tucked into the tight table in the corner behind us knew that as he continued to order one basket of chips after another for his party of five (at a table sized for four...I'm just sayin') as they talked before looking at the menu. Being a fan of mole sauce and noting the one here was "Mom's recipe", I ordered it. It was thin and bland, something hard to achieve with mole. It made me think of my Sicilian mother in law. Bear with me; everything is connected to everything else. My sweet, late mother-in-law had to be the worst cook in spite of growing up in an Italian family with great cooks all around. The family knew this. Everyone loved this wonderful lady, but eating at the grandmother's or the aunts and uncles was the right strategy. You would not have wanted her "Mom's recipe" meal for anything. Maybe that is the case for this Mexican "Mom" and her mole recipe too. Not a winner. My husband's spinach enchilada had an almost fishy undertone and was darned salty. We appreciated they offered pot beans on the menu as an option to refried and we each chose those with our meal but they were also very salty. The corn tortillas seemed thick and chewy. We didn't eat them and that is rare for either my husband or me to leave behind tortillas. But there was that pretty good rice and a small chopped lettuce and tomato salad on each plate. SERVICE Service was quite slow even with several servers in the restaurant and few patrons. When our order was finally taken and my husband asked what ingredients were in their Margaritas the young woman taking our order wasn't sure, she said. He ordered them anyway and we both chuckled and groaned to note it was she who went behind the bar to make them. (Mix made it seemed to us on taste.) Once the food came out of the kitchen, on the plus side both plates were delivered hot, our server didn't check back in with us after delivering the food until we were sitting near the end of our meal with plates ready to be removed. Then in the end it was not she but that nice personable man who delivered us the check. VALUE We thought this on the reasonable side for pricing. A mole entree with rice, beans and tortillas plus a spinach enchilada with rice and beans plus two Margaritas came in under $35.00 including tax. But considering the mediocre quality of the food and the lackluster service, we'd say this wasn't a great value. THIS N THAT: 1) LOCATION: In the awkward and poorly maintained shopping strip mall in Eagle that is nearby Mickey Rays. 2) ACCESSIBILITY: Level in and throughout, although the accessible parking in this strip mall is awkward and doesn't meet code minimums. 3) INSTEAD OF: If you're looking for Mexican food, our tips instead of this would be Mi Casa in Meridian or Amigo's in Boise. read more

Terrible restaurant. Cold fajitas, not even boiling or warm, rude manager, we had to wait 15 minutes to get tortillas and a plate (we asked for these four times) we never got the plate. By the time they brought us the tortillas the food was not fresh, the meat was disgusting, by looking at the photo everyone can agree. Our poor server was not good with English and wasn't understanding what we wanted, we understood and asked a different worker; we were not aware this was the manager, the manager got mad at our server. When it was obvious she shouldn't have gotten put in that position. Not to mention, we first sat outside and there was little green bugs all over each chair. We asked to sit inside after seeing these bugs. We had a terrible visit and decided to talk to the person in charge, me and my friend where both very nice and respectful, the manager interrupted us, never let us finish our sentence, and in less than one minute he said we didn't have to pay and walked away rudely. Always shocked at reviewers willing to give 1 star if the meal is not perfect. I'd say this is an solid 4 star place, but I feel the need to even out the bs 1 star reviews, so hence my 5 star rating. We've eaten here with family and friends 25-30 times in past 5yrs, since we moved here from Star. Never one bad meal. Never one rude or forgetful server. Wife's go to carne asada quesadilla and my go to special with chili Colorado and Chile verde have always been good. Plus beer is cold and chips/salsa rarely run out before being refilled. All this is at a price that is amazingly reasonable, and if you can't take that into consideration then stop reviewing places that charge less than $50plate. Go and enjoy! read more

Went here on a whim and really enjoyed it. Unassuming place but food was on point and salsa was great (a little spicy). A lot of places including this one are having trouble with staffing but they gave us great service nonetheless with constant refills on chips and drinks. We'll be back! read more

First off, this restaurant does not deserve a 2 1/2 stars rating. My family of 6 had a great experience. The staff was kind and welcoming. The food is well presented and solid for Idaho Mexican Food. If you're expecting San Diego Mexican food I could see how you would possibly be disappointed, just remember that you're not in San Diego. The restaurant and bathrooms were spotless and the staff were all following COVID guidelines. I would recommend getting the large margarita on the rocks, it's very generously poured! Second time back in 2 years because the food was so bad the first time. Here's the breakdown. My wife's tortilla soup had a speck of chicken in it and it was overflowing with tortilla chips. She was extremely disappointed. For the second time ever I had to send a dish back, my so called chicken fajita had 4 pieces of chicken in it,2 slices of carrots and a handful of onions. It was swimming in so much cheese that my plate was overflowing with grease and oil from the low quality cheese. It was inedible. Even the waiter saw how disgusting it was. He said let me bring you back a chicken burrito. What he brought me back was 2 small tortillas filled with bland shredded chicken that was so saturated in boiling hot sauce I had to wait 15 minutes to taste it It goes without saying it was terrible. We had to ask for chips, we had to ask for salsa, we had to ask for water that never came and the icing on the cake was that they charged us for two margaritas when my wife only had one. I think it's important to begin by stating that if I want chips and salsa, I go to Casa Mexico. That's the whole purpose of this review. EAT THE CHIPS AND SALSA. My favorite location is the Eagle spot, due to it's patio dining and quiet atmosphere. Food: OK, back to the chips and salsa. They're always warm and perfectly salted. The salsa is hot and spicy with lots of chunks. I could go and just eat the chips & salsa! WATCH OUT for their deep fried jalapenos. Those things are a legit kick to the mouth and you'll need a glass of milk to wash down the burn. The burritos, nachos and enchiladas are all good, comparable with all the other Mexican food in the valley. Drinks: Delicious margaritas! Atmosphere: It's a typical Mexican restaurant. It's always been rather quiet when I've been there, which is nice because the food comes right Service: Typically it's rather slow (at first) and cold. While they may take a long time to greet you and take your order, once your order is in, the food will come right out. My companion and I visited this establishment on a weeknight. We were seated promptly upon entering. The Food: We were given chips and salsa that was super tasty. The salsa had fresh cilantro and the chips were hot with a perfect amount of salt. My companion ordered a Grande Asada Burrito and I ordered Camerones al Mojo de Ajo. Shrimp sauteed with garlic, butter and mushrooms served with rice and beans. Both meals were excellent, seasoned well and plentiful. We each had a quench-thirsting Margarita to complete the meal. Ambiance: Very colorful restaurant filled with bright paintings and Dia de los Muertos figurines. They also had photographs of birthday diners wearing a sombrero. Fun atmosphere! Came here to pick up dinner earlier this week and was extremely disappointed. The portions you get for the prices they charge is absurd. I don't mind spending $12.00 plus dollars on a meal when you get a decent amount of food however this was not the case. One meal we ordered was pork carnitas, I took one look at it and thought it was a kids meal. You can see in the photo how pitful the portion is. I would recommend not going here. Definitely a five star Mexican food place. We stopped by on our way home and got seated right away. Our server brought chips and salsa that were better than almost any place that serves them. Our food was delicious, served on hot plates to keep the food warm. I had a Mexican pizza, which had a fried flour tortilla with refried beans, melted cheese, guacamole and sour cream. Everyone cleaned their plates. Also had one of best margaritas I've ever had with little bits of lime floating in my drink. Can't wait to go back. read more
