    Casa Mexico has been a reliable Mexican restaurant in downtown Eagle for years. I visited for the first time last night with the family. They have an extensive menu of Mexican specialties and combo plates. They also have a full bar. Menu prices range $15 to just under $20 for a dinner meal. They bring complementary chips and salsa to the table which is a nice touch. Service was friendly. Food was comforting and tasty but nothing was over the top delicious. My teen kiddos each ordered a burrito plate and my youngest ordered a kids plate with a taco. Hubby and I shared a combination meal and I had a bowl of soup. I sampled a bit of everything. Their beans are creamy and soupy just the way I like them. The burritos were fine. The kids plate was just enough food for a 12 year old medium to light eater. I enjoyed the avocado tostada with shredded beef the most. The tortilla soup was more of a broth than a hardier creamy soup and it was very good but not worth the $12 price tag. None of the food was spicy but instead it's very mild. I'm sure you can ask for a spicy version if that's your thing. Overall I'd say this is a good choice for a comforting Mexican meal.

    I went to Casa Mexico on cinco de mayo and had a horrible experience. We had a group of about 10 and when we originally showed up they brought out one basket of chips for the group. That obviously was not enough so we asked for more chips. We waited probably 25-30 minutes just to get chips. They took our drink orders and said it would take a while because they didn't have a bartender in. I thought that was a little ridiculous that they didn't have a bartender working on cinco de mayo of all days. The food was average and the service wasn't great. I would recommend trying a different place.

    Love this place! Every time I'm passing through Eagle I stop at this place. Heard it's been around for years. The salsa is hands down the best damn salsa I've ever had and the Asana burrito they make is out of this world! Can't wait to go back. Thanks Casa Mexico!! Ps there is some cool art in the space worth checking out

    Let's list the good things to start. It will be a short list. The salsa that included green onions and cilantro was good. The rice that accompanied each dish was pretty good. The guy who brought our check to the table at the end of our meal was delightfully personable. The list ends there. Had the rest of the food come close to that salsa or any of the service been as friendly as that man, we might pull out a three star rating here. But lackluster service, over salted and bland food and an ambience with potential for warmth but somehow off putting made this a 'one and done', in my husband's vernacular, experience. IT'S NOT ALL IN THE FAMILY We had optimistic expectations heading in for a meal here given we heard the owner of Casa Mexico is a relative of the distaff side of Amigo's in Boise. We're Amigo's fans and hoped good food and service might run in the family to provide us with a Mexican food option closer to home. Not so it seems. LUKEWARM HOSPITALITY There were few people in the restaurant when we arrived on a weekday at late lunch hour. Although there are a couple of attractive seating areas front and rear of the restaurant, the former with mostly tables and chairs and the latter with booths (and a couple of great portraits of Frida Kahlo on the wall), the greeter tried to set us at a two top tucked against the wall right inside the entry door and on the path to the loo. When I asked for a different seat, she set us at a table against a window outside a room partition. I gave up. But not a good start. And as we exited I noted the few other tables of people there had been similarly tucked into tight spaces in awkward locations instead of placed in the more comfortable seating. MENU & FOOD We were presented with laminated multi page menus of Mexican - American standards of combination plates and house specials and sides and the good salsa and a basket of chips. We noted on the menu that for the small salsa bowl and moderate chip basket their was "first one free" with a charge (something $1.50 or under) for refills. I sure hoped the guy who was tucked into the tight table in the corner behind us knew that as he continued to order one basket of chips after another for his party of five (at a table sized for four...I'm just sayin') as they talked before looking at the menu. Being a fan of mole sauce and noting the one here was "Mom's recipe", I ordered it. It was thin and bland, something hard to achieve with mole. It made me think of my Sicilian mother in law. Bear with me; everything is connected to everything else. My sweet, late mother-in-law had to be the worst cook in spite of growing up in an Italian family with great cooks all around. The family knew this. Everyone loved this wonderful lady, but eating at the grandmother's or the aunts and uncles was the right strategy. You would not have wanted her "Mom's recipe" meal for anything. Maybe that is the case for this Mexican "Mom" and her mole recipe too. Not a winner. My husband's spinach enchilada had an almost fishy undertone and was darned salty. We appreciated they offered pot beans on the menu as an option to refried and we each chose those with our meal but they were also very salty. The corn tortillas seemed thick and chewy. We didn't eat them and that is rare for either my husband or me to leave behind tortillas. But there was that pretty good rice and a small chopped lettuce and tomato salad on each plate. SERVICE Service was quite slow even with several servers in the restaurant and few patrons. When our order was finally taken and my husband asked what ingredients were in their Margaritas the young woman taking our order wasn't sure, she said. He ordered them anyway and we both chuckled and groaned to note it was she who went behind the bar to make them. (Mix made it seemed to us on taste.) Once the food came out of the kitchen, on the plus side both plates were delivered hot, our server didn't check back in with us after delivering the food until we were sitting near the end of our meal with plates ready to be removed. Then in the end it was not she but that nice personable man who delivered us the check. VALUE We thought this on the reasonable side for pricing. A mole entree with rice, beans and tortillas plus a spinach enchilada with rice and beans plus two Margaritas came in under $35.00 including tax. But considering the mediocre quality of the food and the lackluster service, we'd say this wasn't a great value. THIS N THAT: 1) LOCATION: In the awkward and poorly maintained shopping strip mall in Eagle that is nearby Mickey Rays. 2) ACCESSIBILITY: Level in and throughout, although the accessible parking in this strip mall is awkward and doesn't meet code minimums. 3) INSTEAD OF: If you're looking for Mexican food, our tips instead of this would be Mi Casa in Meridian or Amigo's in Boise.

    I love this restaurant so much. It's family owned and the staff is wonderful. The food is great and the prices are very reasonable.

    The service was great however the food was bland and terrible. The margarita is a wine margarita so no tequila. I would never go back.

They had their overhead heaters on, a little too warm for me, but my wife enjoyed them. The table was plain, with uncomfortable metal chairs. Our server brought out a carafe of water, which is all we wanted. We both had burritos; my wife chose the carne asada, and I the pollo asada. Mine came with nicely seasoned, tender chicken, crema, and tater tots. I think there might have been more ingredients. They also have a verde and a roja salsa, both of which were very tasty and packed some heat. The large flour tortilla was nicely browned, and both of our burritos were very flavorful. My only complaint is that one end of my burrito did not have any chicken. So, more chicken, otherwise delicious. Our server did a very good job, checking back with us a few times. She was friendly and attentive. I did not care for the noise level. It was very loud, though I could still hear my wife speaking. However, we had a larger party of women near us that were extremely loud, until they received their food, and then they quieted down. But, not a great place if you want to have some quiet conversation. However, we will most certainly be back.

Despite a few salty chips, it was a delicious starter. The Tacos: 1. Pollo Asado (GF): 5/5. This is a must-order. The chicken chicharrones add a great crunch, and the guacamole balances the heat beautifully. 2. Korean BBQ Pork Belly: 3/5. A very sweet/vinegar-forward profile. If you enjoy a sweeter taco, you'll like this, though it felt a bit heavy for me. 3. Baja Mahi Mahi: 1/5. Unfortunately, this was inedible. The breading was so greasy it masked the toppings, and the fish was quite chewy. Service Reflections: I arrived just after 3:00 PM (Happy Hour is 3-5 PM), but I wasn't given the HH menu or informed of the specials. I didn't realize the oversight until I saw the signage by the host stand at 4:01 PM. While my server Emily R. was pleasant, I was surprised the kitchen or service staff didn't address the untouched Mahi Mahi taco or offer the promotional pricing earlier. I'll likely return for the Pollo Asado and the atmosphere, but I hope to see more proactive service regarding Happy Hour and food quality checks next time.

We're both originally from California, and it's been tough finding those authentic flavors we've missed since moving. And with the view by the patio, how can it not be the most perfect setting to enjoy my birthday dinner. We just stuck with water since it was on the warmer side today. We just went straight in for dinner. As much as the appetizers sounded lovely, I was ready for the main event. So for dinner tonight I ordered the charboiled salmon with seasonal veggies in place of the salad. My salmon was plated beautifully with nice char marks on it. The veggies were a variety of squash and were sautéed nicely. And you can tell visually that they were seasoned nicely with spices and herbs. I dug right into my salmon. My first couple bites were delicious. I did spread some of the sun dried tomato butter on my salmon. The butter was fantastic! It added a nice flavor element to the salmon. After I ate about a a fourth of my salmon, I noticed that it was not cooked all the way through in the middle. With my new kidney, I can't have rare or undercooked fish. My immune system can't handle a parasite if the fish were to potentially contain any. I shouldn't have assumed that it was going to be cooked all the way since our server didn't ask how well I wanted it cooked. I did have to send it back and have another one remade. While my new fish was being prepared, my server gave me a small salad plate to transfer my veggies to. I got to work on them so I wasn't staring at my family eat. The veggies were cooked perfectly. They weren't overly soft or still raw. It had a nice bite to them while still being tender. Unfortunately, they were overly seasoned and was on the saltier side. I was hungry so I polished them off. But I did have to drink a good amount of water to help with the saltiness. Thank goodness the portion was on the daintier side. As hungry as I was, it would have been bad if it was a bigger portion. All that salt would not be good on my new kidney. My second round of salmon came out. Was it as pretty as my first plate, no but it will do. I'm sure they set the flame on high, let it sit on the grill for a while and then flipped it to cook the other side. I have cooked salmon well done plenty of times and have it come out tender. When you cook for a living, having cooking times for your dishes should be down to a science in your kitchen. Unfortunately, the salmon was super dry and flavorless. As hungry as I was, I ate it. The butter did help with the dryness of the salmon. But I shouldn't have to rely on butter to make the dish edible. For my birthday, I got a free dessert. I chose the gluten free carrot cake. My cousin eats a gluten free diet so I thought this cake would be perfect for all of us. I enjoyed the cake very much! The cake was moist. The spices in the cake were fragrant and very noticeable in each bite. I loved the frosting on the cake. Since the cake wasn't overly sweet, the frosting added a nice sweetness to it. I enjoyed the cake very much! Our server did a mid job. There were times when she would be gone for long periods of time and we had to wait for her. The patio was perfect with its stunning view. Dinner was ok but dessert was fabulous. Overall it was a decent experience. I do look forward to coming back and enjoying the outdoor patio with my husband for a date night. I just know now to make sure I vocalize everything to my server so I don't end up with dry salmon again. I do want to come back and have a better experience.
