YUM!! Had I not been recommended to try Casa Mia, I would've missed this enjoyable local Mexican restaurant tucked away in a small strip mall. I really liked their food and no frills location, casual ambience, friendly service and generous portions of house-made eats! Everything from apps to dinners, Taste of Mexico specialties and more...you won't go hungry! Overall, 4.0 rated experience; expect to pay $15-18pp for entrees, plus any starters or drinks. Tonite we started with Kevs Dip, tender seasoned ground beef in a cheesy dip (would've liked more cheese) topped with pico de gallo. Enough to share, it was tasty and served with house tortilla chips. I think if you prefer a spicier version, try their Queso Fundido which has house-made Chorizo and fresh Jalapeños in cheese dip - i definitely want to try the Fundido next time. For dinners, we ordered Chori Chicken and a Weldon Spring Burrito. Both were plentiful portions (shareable if not overly hungry) and delicious! The Chori Chicken had house-made Chorizo and grilled onions atop grilled Chicken breast smothered in queso; served with rice, beans, salad and flour tortillas - hits the spot! The Burrito had grilled Ribeye steak, avocado, rice, beans, mushrooms, fajita peppers, cilantro and queso - wow it was a giant and complex burrito but very tasty to eat! Plenty of menu options to try, and perhaps my one surprise was quite limited Pork selections; while they had Al Pastor (marinated) Pork dishes, they did not have any Carnitas type dinner or Enchiladas. We had a group of 10 and some people really wanted to come here for dinner. They were closing in an hour and while that's enough time, it's not my choice with a large group. We ordered our drinks which tasted just ok. The food wasn't any better. I ordered shredded beef chimi and no rice. The shredded beef had no flavor, the beans weren't good (more liquid and bland) and the still gave me rice. I didn't complain because they were closing soon and the beans didn't taste good anyway. The chimi was also over cooked. Some people enjoyed their food but I am a huge lover of Mexican food and this was just not it. The server was nice but he only came to take our order and help deliver our food. Despite coming am hour before close, the food still shouldn't be this bad. Not a fan and will not return. read more

I have never been here, but my friends raved about it so we decided to give it a try altogether The service is pretty awful. Our server only came over twice once to take our order and then a second time 20 minutes after our food was delivered to ask us if we needed anything else. The drink orders took a very long time as well to receive. I placed it order and waited almost 30 minutes until I asked someone to check on it and they told me it's just been sitting in the window how lovely By the time I did get to order, the food was cold. Honestly, there are much better Mexican places I would rather give my time and money too. First time here and was surprised in how clean and bright the interior was. They have decent size patio area q and a small indoor bar area, private room for groups and are kid friendly. The server was very attentive and friendly and the salsa was great. Husband had taco salad and said it had to much chopped jalapeño in it for him but is was good. I got the steak fajitas. They slice the meat into very thin strips, which I'm not a fan of. I look for three things when I order steak fajitas, tenderness, char on the meat, and lime flavor. I guess I expect this after spending 17 years in Houston, Texas. These steak fajitas only had the tenderness. The meat was seasoned like for a normal steak versus fajitas. The grilled onions, green peppers and tomatoes were cooked perfectly. The veggies had some char to them which was nice. The accompanying rice and beans were luke warm at best. This tells me there's not the proper oversight on what leaves the kitchen. The guacamole had lost that fresh green look to it which was also disappointing. Every once in a while, I get to come to Casa Mia on a Thursday for free team trivia. Mark runs the trivia nights. He's a lot of fun and always extremely friendly. At the end of the night, it's not unusual for Mark to walk around and chat with all the teams. Gabby was our server. Good food and very good service without being overbearing. They check with you once to make sure everything is satisfactory. The servings are more than adequate. The music is nice and catchy and not played loudly. I prefer going there when it busy, that way I can get seated in their newer section. It's slightly darker and has a more cozy ambiance. read more

Also the whole reason I had to click chorizo is they made it a "requirement" to update my protein so they MADE ME click an extra protein. I even called the restaurant before ordering just to let them know about the problem and he said if I still ordered online, he'll just refund me cause I was just about to place the order over the phone so I just don't get what the whole deal is? This was our first time here and it was a Thursday night. I had the Chicharron Super Tacos. They were delicious although I was expecting a hard crunchy shell given my conversation with the server. They were grilled flour shells, not my favorite. My husband had the Carnitas Chile. It was a huge plate of good and he said it was really good. Service was good and we sat at the back bar. They do have another bar at the front of the restaurant. The dining areas were decorated nicely especially in the back. I feel the ambiance would have been better if the restaurant was more busy. We were here around 6pm so the place should have been busier. I feel like this place should be more popular as the food is good and they have a great alcohol selection. Give them a try. read more

Back in the trail to find great Mexican food and today we try Casa Mia. Casa Mia is another hidden gem in the St. Peter's area. Nestled in a business square Casa Mia provides a nice atmosphere with great food. Started our visit with carne asada fries, a delicious balance of perfectly seasoned carne asada, french fries, melted queso and served with sour cream, guacamole and pico de gallo. Not one bite was left, it was that good. We also ordered some Cadillac Margaritas, and were given a generous pour of Don Julio Tequila, a very tasty beverage. Wife went with the pollo en salsa verde, the top dish of the day! Grilled chicken topped with grilled onions and topped with a Serrano verde avocado salsa. Deliciously balanced with flavor and heat and also served with beans, rice and tortillas of your choice. This dish is by far one that will Keep us coming back. I went with the Oscar Burrito, marinated steak and chorizo mixed with beans and rice and smothered with both salsa roja and verde with sour cream. Another very balance dish with flavor with every bite. Casa Mia has the traditional fanfare one would expect at a Mexican restaurant. Music and atmosphere was very welcoming and by the look of every table being filled, Casa Mia is definitely supported by its local community. Tables were serviced quickly and restaurant was very clean. Casa Mia can accommodate large groups, but recommend calling in advance. Plenty of patio seating as well if you're interested. Casa Mia does have a bar and a great menu of tasty libations for those interested in a happy hour or cold beverage. If you're in the mood for great food and in the area, stop by Casa Mia. I went here on Taco Tuesday. They had some good taco deals, so my wife and I decide we would each order one asada and one barbacoa. Both of them were lacking flavor. I had to put so much salsa and hot sauce on them that they both tasted the same. The asada was tender I would give it that but that's it. No flavor... The jalapeño margarita was pretty good. Salsa was runny, but had some flavor. Kevs dip was runny, would not recommend wasting your money. Service was great. I was really at a 3.5 for this review. You need to be looking for it since it's on the 2nd floor of a late-70's era strip mall. You have to drive around the back to get to the restaurant entrance. Very modest, but decent sized dining room. We were seated immediately, it was busy, but not full. They brought out the chips and salsa right away, and drink orders were taken. The menu was already VERY INTERESTING. Some great combinations and waaAaay beyond the usual taco/burrito/chimichanga selections. Some Ingredients you don't normally see in local mex too. Things like Huevos served all day, meat choices like chorizo, Al pastor, carnitas; and a full selection of tortas! Our food was served fairly quickly and was hot and delicious. After we got our chips n salsa (it's different in a great way), we started off with a refreshing Paloma and the Queso Fundito. They queso is a must! The food here was phenomenal. I can with a group of kids and adults after spending the afternoon at Kokomo Joe's and wanting something more satisfying than big box pizza, but still appealing to a variety of tastes. Chimi's was suggested, but I shorted it to find something a bit more local and I'm so happy I did. This is some of the best Mexican I've had in St. Louis. Everything was wonderfully flavorful and perfectly cooked. I was initially disappointed that my fajita salad brought out with meat, but the veggies were so well-seasoned I truly couldn't complain and I found the meal phenomenal. The variety of burritos were also well-received, and the shredded beef quesadilla was another perfectly executed meal.
