I sit down in my favorite booth, the host runs to the kitchen to tell Shannon she has a request party of one. A minute or so later a tall dark headed woman with glasses resting on the end of her nose comes over carrying a platter with chips, salsa and a cherry coke. She had remembered. Setting it down and she asks how I am and if I'll be having my usual. I nod and slash open my straw wrapper. A plate with a queso chip flys to my table as well as a handful of napkins. However this visit was bad, went through 3 silverware packs to fine a clean fork. The window we set next to had gaps between the glass and frame. It breaks my heart to write this review. Our family went to Casa Ole on Eastex Freeway Saturday evening after a baseball tournament. We were seated quickly by Bethany and soon after, Alicia began waiting on us. Although they were busy, we received our drinks, chips & hot sauce very fast. Our queso appetizer came out quick and Alicia was bringing us drink refills, before we asked. Our food came out and was great, with the same consistent taste we have known for years. The entire team that I could see, was working hard and efficiently. It was a great experience. So much so that the next evening, it was just my mom and me that was going to grab a bite after the championship game. She said she wanted queso again and we decided to go back to Casa Ole in the Target shopping center. And again, was greeted by Bethany and seated promptly and accommodating my mom's needs (limited mobility). This visit was much like the night before with Russell taking care of us. Our food was actually brought out by Alicia (waitress from Sat), with Russell checking on us continually. Bethany had asked how everything was after she had seated some guests, and we struck up a conversation. I asked her who the General Manager was, and was telling her how great our experience was. Bethany saw her GM; Mellissa and we called her over to the table. We shared about how great our experience had been and the atmosphere, team work, effectiveness, and great food that brought us back for a next day visit. Mellisa was also great to visit with and hear her passion, commitment, and focus on running a great store. As we were leaving, Bethany held the door open for mom, and thanked us for coming. She said when we come back, she hopes to be an Assistant Manager. Without doubt, she will be a great one. When I was a GM of a restaurant, she is the type of employee that our company looked for. Well done Mellisa and staff in impressing my mom and myself, I hope their owners realize what strong and commited staff they have. After being gone for over 9 yrs it was nice to come back to a place that I truly missed. We went for lunch and seated promptly. Saw a school mate working there and was nice to say hi and that she remembered me even after so long. She took our drinks right away and brought them to us. The young man that took our order and brought us food was very nice and it was good to have that Southern hospitality again. I forget his name but he was on the Lamar football team. I went to the Casa Ole' Eastex Fwy location a few times after being gone for 15 yrs. I normally got the taco meat w chips n salsa. The last 2 times when the portion size was so tiny for almost 9.00 I laughed. The Gen'l Mgr said, "The prices went up"That is More than evident, and the portions were Holocaust Sized.If a restaurant has to increase the price that much-CLOSE Down til we get that PooPoo Bandit out of office and the prices chill. Last nite-we ordered Cheese enchiladas to go and Tamales. I specified no sauce or cheese on the Tamales. We went thru drive thru-1 TINY bag of chips and a Tiny cup of salsa for 2 Dinners! What? And-my cheese Enchilada's were Naked too! They did not put Sauce or cheese! Their staff is too busy playing-which is fine-but get the food right. Omar was of No Help. Management is much to be desired. They are snarky, indignant and angry. Update: I have changed the rating from one star to three. We came for a family dinner and everything was great. Food was delicious and the service was great. My niece had to wait for a long time for her food. The manager came out and apologized saying that the tray with her food had been spilled. She compensated us for the meal and was very nice about the whole situation. We have been coming here for years and have enjoyed it. The last few times we visited i noticed the price had gone up on everything but it was still good Tex-mex. Tonight we called in a to-go order and went through the drive thru to pick it up. All the orders were portioned very small and our $7 chicken strip meal was the size of a kids meal. Seriously, 2 chicken strips and a handful of fries. We were charged $5 for extra hot sauce, $1 for an oz of queso, and our steak taco had hardly any meat on it, maybe half a tablespoon. We complained to the manager and she apologized. She said they were having to do portion control but that she would get us more fries and meat for the taco. We then noticed we did not have our $5 hot sauce in our bag to which we were given some. After waiting she brought extra fries but no meat. We had to wait again for the meat. While waiting for the 25 minutes it took to get food we got to watch the workers laugh and joke with each other. I guess new owners means the classic and affordable Casa Olè are no more. Although the manager was very kind I am disappointed that the prices for tex-mex food are so high, the portions are so small, and our order was so messed up. read more

We are back to recalibrate our Tex-Mex rating system. The food is cooked right (no over/under) ample in proportion and mild in chemical heat. My wife digs the spinach stuffed chicken with cilantro cream sauce. I wanted a dish that did move the Scoville needle up a bit; poblano chili stuffed with fajita chicken topped with the same cilantro cream sauce. Both dishes are flanked by frijoles and rice. Each of the sides are unassuming. Nothing bad but far from exceptional. Sitting in the middle is a scoop of pico. Add a little zip and fresh tomato taste. Both mains are similar and tasty. Worth the price @ under 10 bucks, each. Picante/salsa is red tomato sauce of indeterminate flavor. Queso is required on our visit. The yellow slurry with mild green chili chunks is a perfect addition to pump up the action. So you can see, Casa Olé is more than adequate. Even so, it beats the jeans off the low class, puny proportions Texican atrocities prevalent in this area. Yes, we go to Houston. We are partial to el Tiempo but, the original Ninfa's is splendid. Don't forget Pappasito's, they are always major delish and imaginative. read more

My husband and I went to eat at Casa Ole today. We were told they didn't have menus anymore . There was a square code on the table that I had to take a picture of and then tap my phone and their menu came up. It was so small that I couldn't read it . I asked if they had regular menus for customers who didn't have a smartphone. She apologized and said no. Well since we couldn't see a menu we got up and left. We always liked their food but we won't be back. Whoever came up with this idea is an idiot. Paper disposable menus would have been much better. read more

This review is for takeout I LOVE that this Casa Ole offers a drive thru window, and that you don't even have to call in your order in advance, although you can do that if you prefer. It's a very fast & convenient way to get restaurant quality mexican food. They package their items very well, and I even re-use the salsa and queso containers for storage at home after they've been used and washed. They don't use the typical takeout styrofoam - it's plastic and very sturdy. The hostesses that we have dealt with at the drive thru window have always been exceptionally friendly, and one of the ladies we frequently see always makes a point to express her appreciation for our business and never fails to say, "thank you" when she is given a tip! She's ensured that she'll always get one. read more

We ordered beef fajitas and honestly, if you blind folded me and put Casa ole fajitas and a bag of beef jerky next to It for me to eat off of - I wouldn't know the difference. For most everything else, you risked, and fell below the par line. For the readers, if you're looking for 90s era tex-mex or just some decent salsa, Olé has you covered. Picked up some to go food for my wife and I. The wife likes avocado on her salad so I ordered a sliced avocado. I get home and open the avocado and 30% of it is brownish/black, you know an old avocado. One that I would have thrown out at my home, much less serve it to a guest. But they think their old avocados are worth serving to their patrons. I call to speak to a manager. Not for a refund, but to tell them of the nasty avocado their employees are serving. She asks what she can do, I said "don't serve people old food that should be thrown away". The manager then tells me that she can promise they would not serve food that would cause illness. I was home visiting from NY and my mom took me here. Terrible!!! The server was beyond horrible. When we got there, there was barely anyone there. The servers were just hanging out. We waited for 5-7 minutes for anyone to even bring us menus or chips. Finally, we had to ask where our server was and she kind of non-challantly came over. We mentioned that it was very cold. She replied with, "well, honey, on this side of the resteraunt it's either really hot or really cold. I don't know about you, but I'd rather be really cold. Do you want a blanket?" We were shocked. She never offered to make it better. Then our food came, but still no drinks. Right after she came over and said, "oh sorry, I had to find the club soda." Really? You had to find the club soda? She kept apologizing and giving us excuses for her bad service. She said at one point, "I'm really sorry for the service, I have worked doubles all week." News flash: we don't care. If you aren't able to work because you are sooooo tired, then stay home. At the end of the nightmare, they insisted they we pay the server instead of paying at the register. So stupid. Then the manager came over to see if all was ok. I told her what happened and how the service was really bad. She said she was sorry but did nothing to rectify the situation. A good manager would have tried to assure that the customer would come back. She clearly didn't care. We left leaving the terrible server with no tip. I have never done that in my life. Go to a different location or don't go to Casa Ole at all. Horrible!!!! read more

I absolutely love Casa Ole. However, the location on Eastex Fwy was Horrible. The Hostess did not say one word to us or anybody else for that matter. We got there early so it was not busy yet the hostess kept disappearing for 10 minutes at a time. She was not even doing anything that we could see but walking back and forth and according to other people waiting she had been doing that for awhile. She didnt come back for another 10 mins so I asked the Cashier if it was "seat yourself" since obviously nobody was helping us and she said no and finally seated us herself. When we got to our table, we had to wipe it down ourselves. Absolutely ridiculous. Our server was extremely nice and the food was ok but overall this was an experience that leaves customer service something to be desired. I've been treated better in Mexico. read more
