My son and I visited Casa Sorrento for a weekday lunch and both had a great experience. We were greeted and seated promptly. This restaurant has my son's favorite chicken wings so he insisted that I try them and oh boy he was right - they are so crispy. They have no sauce and are more of a dry rub, They are so full of flavor and tender. I will definitely return just for the wings. I was pleasantly surprised by their lunch menu. I had the half roasted chicken sandwich and garden salad and I only paid $11.95, that's a great deal. The sandwich was delicious. It has a pesto mayo that was extra tasty. The chicken was a tad bit overcooked, but still enjoyable. My son had the chicken Caesar salad and he said he enjoyed it. He liked the dressing, the chicken was perfectly seasoned, and he enjoyed it overall. Our waiter was courteous and the food came out fast. I will definitely return for the wings and to try more items of their menu. We had a great experience during lunch and lunch and plan to return for dinner soon. read more

A long stand institution in the heart of Oldtown Salinas. This place has been around for many years and has some really great comfort food. I was acknowledged upon entering and promptly seated at the bar since it was just myself. I arrived during Happy Hour so draft beer was $1 off. I ordered the hazy beer and the Chicken Parmesan with Spaghetti. This came out perfectly cooked and super tender chicken Parmesan. I also like the Lemon pIcada. The restaurant is huge with two dining rooms and another full bar. I think the only downside is they close at 8 pm on weeknights. read more

I was so bummed with their pizza. It was no better than a frozen pizza from the store. I've been going to Casa Sorrento since the 1900's and I've always loved their pizza. Very cheesy, great crust and toppings. I haven't been here for a year or more and was excited to have their pizza once more. I have to say, I was very dissatisfied. It's not the pizza that once was. We love the wings they come crispy on outside and juicy tender on the inside with a side of tangy spicy buffalo and ranch for dipping. I'm such a nice experience. We came here for a work lunch meeting and had such good service, mindful of our time and timely with our order. I had the zucchini sticks with marinara sauce. Delicious. Several of our group had sandwiches that looks huge and well enjoyed. One had the lasagna. Now that looked delicious and a huge portion that was to be enjoyed as a left over as well. Everything that was meant to be served hot was HOT. And the salads were fresh one on par with the best that Salinas Valley has to offer. First of all it was a Friday evening. The place was hopping. We sat at the bar and had a couple apps. Calamari and the zucchini sticks. Both were fantastic. Hot, crispy and battered well. Terrible Management and Disrespectful Service by Judy We had a highly frustrating experience at this establishment due to the hostile behavior of the manager, Judy.Our party of eight walked in and was told by the host, Willa, that we would be seated once everyone arrived. However, once our full group was present 15 minutes later, Willa informed us she had to wait for Judy. When Judy arrived, she immediately refused to seat us due to capacity, despite what Willa had previously implied. While I tried to explain the situation, Judy completely checked out, shaking her head dismissively instead of listening. She flatly told us hosting us was "not an option."I suggested splitting our group into two tables of four, which she reluctantly agreed to. After another 15 minutes, we were finally seated. I then went to retrieve a highchair for the 1-year-old in our party. Upon entering the other dining room, I discovered it was entirely empty with plenty of tables that could have easily fit our initial group of eight.To make matters worse, Judy stopped taking an order at another table just to side-eye me and yell across the room, "You can't take those chairs, they are taken." When I clarified that I was only grabbing a highchair, she just stared at me, offering no apology for her loud, public accusation.Judy's complete lack of empathy, poor customer service, and ugly attitude ruined our visit. The pizza is delicious here! We also got a few appetizers that were also very good. They have happy hour until 6, even on the weekend! So we were able to try a few appetizers. Our waitress Liliana was the sweetest. She was so attentive and very friendly. Our hostess, whom I didn't get her name wasn't the friendliest. I loooove this pizza. Casa Sorrento has a long history is salinas. If memory serves me right, around 40 years ago they moved from their original very tiny location on N. Main Street to their current location, which is also very small. Years ago they expanded in to the next door business which creates more than twice the dining capacity. Also during the pandemic, they created a nice patio area with heaters. I came on 12-17-22 for a 60th birthday party and had a great time. The food was delicious and the staff was sooo accommodating and kind. They had been told to have the food out at 5pm but when staff heard all the kids were hungry, they managed to get trays of pizzas and pastas and a delicious salad out asap. We really appreciated that. Everything was really tasty. They also have a full bar. On the night we were there, they had local Alvarado Street Brewing's Mai Tai - such a plus. Nice to see this long time business going strong, I highly recommend to anyone who loves pizza and pasta. read more

When we went back we ordered a chicken parmigiana and a lasagna. The chicken was moist and the breading was cooked well the cheese on top was not to much. It is served with a side of spaghetti and French toast. The lasagna had good flavor and cheesy. We would order both dishes again and also the pizza. Service was good and had a family run feeling. The only positive about this place is the manager Judy. We went there tonight for a graduation dinner, and had the worst service of our lives. Our server Miriam messed up our whole order-brought out things we didn't order, and one of us didn't even get our meal. Even when we were leaving, the meal still hadn't arrived. She never apologized and just had the worst attitude. She even started giving us attitude because we were getting frustrated with the service. Then when I requested the check, they had automatically added on a $23 tip! Not sure where she thought she deserved that type of tip. I have never experienced anything like this before. Food was mediocre. Won't ever go back. The mgr was very apologetic though and compensated our food. If this establishment wants returning customers, they need to reevaluate their staff..and hire people who actually have work ethic and can work in a fast paced environment.
