4.5 stars!!!!! Came here with wife and friends to check out for happy hour. The parking here is not great. Basically you must find a place to park on street somewhere. I think that is the one drawback of this place. The restaurant itself is very nice inside. Well decorated with a nice bar. There is a very nice patio area but given weather it was not open. I'm sure it is when weather permits. For happy hour the apps are about 40% off specialty drink specials are $10 cocktails and I believe 5 draft and wine. I got the smoked old fashioned and it did not disappoint. Wife got the Chardonnay and was happy with it. We started with garlic bread and it was pretty good. We then went with the wings. These wings were so good we ordered a second plate as did our friends. Some of the best wings I've had in a long time. For mains we got the gnocchi and friends got the pizza. Everyone was very happy with there dishes. It was a solid meal. The gnocchi is I believe $11 for happy hour and pizza I think is $10. Great deal for what you get. All in all a really good meal in a nice restaurant. Only downside is parking. read more

A great addition to Oldtown Salinas. The food of the former Little Sicily on Gabilan Street is now here. Great cocktails menu and ask for Kenny (mixologist) for any recommendations. The venue is a bit noisy, but there is an outdoor patio as well. I recommend the small couches and table for a relaxing and snacking on appetizers. This is an overall great place! Drinks, food, service, ambiance, etc. were all top notch! We were seated immediately, and our waiter noticed the table wobbled a bit, so he fixed it without us having to even ask! The prices are fair especially for the quality of food and drink served! Parking isn't ideal, it is street parking only. We ubered there, so it was a nonissue for us, but it is something to keep in mind. I would say nice-casual dress attire is acceptable for the setting and overall vibe of the restaurant. There is indoor and outdoor seating available too. read more

Not really much to complain about. Good food, great drinks, and the ambience was great. Service was nice, she kind of checked on us too much but that's okay better than being ignored. Only glitchy part was the yelp app allows to do reservations, but the reservation system doesn't work. Also there is no phone number to call to make reservation or to see if they are busy or not. Came for an early dinner friday and was seated right away. Started to get busier later in the evening, but some people would sit at the bar or lounge seats on the side to have a drink till a table was available. Simple Italian menu, nothing overwhelming. Overall it was a pretty solid restaurant. We came on a Friday at 5:30. It was pretty empty so we got to sit ourselves. The staff was friendly. Space was clean and had a really nice decor. The food was good. We got the gnocchi and the highlight was probably the garlic bread in the side. The pizza was good but nothing out of this word. It was a solid pizza. The cocktails were really yummy and had a good amount of alcohol. Overall this is a great place to grab drinks, some quick appetizers and just hangout. I will be returning to try some other of their food like maybe the lasagna or another pizza. read more

My friend and I were out and about on a Friday night in Salinas and trying to find somewhere good to eat and get some drinks. I'm happy to report we had a really great experience at Altura. We came a little after 9 PM and there was no wait but a good amount of people there. The vibe here is laid back and chill but still feels a little more upscale than you'd expect. The service is stellar. Food comes out quick and my bartender actually brought me another drink because he had apparently left out an ingredient in the one he had made (though I honestly hadn't even realized haha). Our waitress was also super fun and attentive. For food, we ordered the Garlic Bread, the Shrimp Pesto Pizza, and the Ravioli with sausage. The Garlic Bread was surprisingly good -- crispy and very garlicy. Our waitress was the one who had recommended the Shrimp Pesto Pizza, but I honestly thought this was mediocre. Not super flavorful and could've used more sauce in my opinion. The ravioli was solid though and it was a very decent portion. To drink, I ordered the Forbidden Berry, while my friend got the OG Margarita. I liked how the Forbidden Berry was creamy and light without being too sweet. I brought my staff for a meeting here last week. What a delightful experience! I loved the outdoor seating, intimate setting, and the ambiance overall was perfect! The service staff was great. They greeted us immediately and didn't miss a beat. My entire staff was impressed with the decor, great food, and the owners. I couldn't ask for a better experience for my staff meeting. Who doesn't want to enjoy a delicious, filling meal while talking business? Next time i definitely want to try the cocktails and relax a bit. Try the lasagna it's amazing!! I was in Salinas for the weekend and decided to try out this restaurant my first night. The food and service was so good I decided to have dinner there again the following night as well. Aside from the food being very good and reasonably priced, I also enjoyed the excellent service from the staff. I also ordered dessert both nights with coffee and they served me a Mexican coffee that was so good and it was only $5! Overall great spot to eat and I'd definitely eat there again next time I'm in town. read more

I have been meaning to stop by here since it opened and I finally got a chance. The vibe walking in around 5 was chill and only couple people inside. We had a seat at the bar and had couple signature cocktails recommended by bartender. As we sipped and enjoyed the cocktail and crispy chicken wings ( must order if you come in) we took in the crowd for the night. I'm told there is a jazz band that comes in every other Thursday night so I have to see if it gets a bit more exciting and diverse for a cozy lounge. Try the old fashioned - it's definitely worth it and smooth. Looking forward to next visit vibes. read more

The first time I tried the food here it was pretty good; a little heavy on the garlic but very tasty. Something changed, however, and the second time I tried it the same order turned out completely different. The spaghetti with meat sauce had no meat in it and it had peas this time. The fettuccini alfredo had almost no sauce on it and the level of garlic was enough to kill off the entire population of Transylvania. I took the fettuccini back and asked them to make it again, but the garlic level was just too much to handle and we ended up having to throw it out (this was a take-out order). I'm not positive, but I think the problem might be that they are adding raw garlic to the sauce instead of cooking it down first, before adding it to the sauce...maybe...but that's just a guess. I don't think we'll be back if the food quality and recipes aren't consistent enough to warrant it. read more

Ordered take out! Pizza: vegetable looked like they were cooked separately or not at all and simply dumped on the doe. Bread sticks: they looked store bought/ Walmart bought and just heated up. We were hoping to receive actual bread sticks cooked/ baked at the restaurant. This was such a turn off cuz this is all my kids were hoping to eat. Alfredo pasta: The noodles were so settled in that I couldn't move them without breaking. Possible that they cooked this dish earlier in the day and were quickly heated before take out. Garlic flavor was overpowering, the Alfredo sauce was so thick which is only possible if there's more flour than cheese in it. No balance of taste or consistency of the sauce. Celebrated our daughter's birthday at Alturas with seven. There's an outside dining area where we walked through. We dined indoors and both settings were very appealing, rustic and inviting. Deceivingly small standing on the sidewalk but the restaurant is large and has a nice bar. The staff is very attentive and friendly. When you think Alturas you need to think and crave Italian because the menu has Italian pastas, pizzas, salads and appetizers. To be honest some of our party weren't fond of the fettuccine and mentioned it wasn't warm. I had the ravioli with an add on of meatballs which I enjoyed and even took home leftovers. In fact four out of the seven of our party took home leftover pizza and other pastas for later. I recommend Alturas for a nice casual Italian experience with just enough ambiance to want to come back! read more

First time trying Altura since Little Sicily relocated and wow, I enjoyed it so much! The host (I believe or manager not sure lol) was awesome. He made conversation with us and always checked if we needed things throughout our dinner. Our waiter Jose was very friendly and gave us a heads up that it was happy hour . We decided to sit outside and he didn't forget about us :,) he would come to check on us and made sure everything was good. Him and the host were so attentive and friendly which I loved. Dinner was phenomenal. Especially the spaghetti with meat sauce. WOW, the noodles were thick, the sauce was slightly sweet but you can still taste the tomatoes, the herbs, the meat. It was delicious. Best spaghetti in town imo. The Alfredo was good, the noodles and chicken were great but I didn't like the sauce much. It had flavor, but the sauce was a bit to thick for me. I also got a Driving Miss Daisy to drink and it was delicious as well. Most drinks you can only taste one ingredient but not this one, you can actually taste all of its ingredients. They also give you water to refill your cup too! Lastly, the cannoli. Nothing beats a cannoli I had from an Italian festival I went to but this one comes to a close second.
