I really wanted to give this place 5 stars... we were visiting Salem, Mass and wanted to try out this new restaurant... we were seated after waiting approximately 5-10 minutes. Our waiter came over to take our drink orders. I asked him what he recommended, but he seemed apprehensive about letting me know what was good on the menu. My best friend ordered a grilled shrimp salad, my daughter and her friend ordered from kids menu cheeseburger and chicken tenders. My other daughter and her friend had nachos. I decided on not ordering any food. I asked the waiter if two other friends could join us who were shopping nearby and he said he would have to ask the manager... the waiter came back and said "no." The orders arrived, the grilled shrimp was cooked well but the salad was just iceberg lettuce with thick pieces of tomatoes. My daughter's friend said her cheeseburger was just "ok" with barely cheese on it. The nachos were tasty which is why I'm even leaving 3 stars. I love to support new businesses but the owners should definitely train waiters and waitresses on their foods and how to make food recommendations from the menu! read more

This is such a wonderful restaurant in a great location! The patio is lovely when the weather is nice, and the indoor set up is vibrant and comfortable. The cooks really take pride in their food, especially in the detail with the sauces and salsas. For its location, great quality and decent portion sizes, the prices are quite reasonable. read more

Honestly one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had. I get it, it's October in Salem but the food is awful. Like I'd rather eat fast food than this goop they try to pass as "Mexican Food." It is most definitely not Mexican food. I had enchiladas that they stuffed with American cheese slices, no joke. The "salsa" was in pretty sure a store bought brand like Pace. It was basically canned tomatoes with a little onion in it. Delicious!! They took over a pretty popular spot and totally made it their own. I came for lunch with my sister and we had a great time! They have so many items on their menu that I wanted to try but I had to go for the lunch combos first and glad I did. I'm picky because I grew up in San Diego so I have a certain idea of what mexican food is and yes, I understand that Mexican/San Diego cuisine is a special special thing :) Between good food, good service, dining al fresco (oh no winter is coming though) and some good chips and salsa (yes, the salsa is REALLY good here) I will be back! I ordered a House Margarita. The menu says that the House Margarita comes with the house's silver or gold tequila. So I asked what are the tequila options for the house margarita. The waitress listed 4 tequilas, which was odd since I expected 2, and I couldn't tell which was silver and which was gold. I chose one that sounded better than the others, but then they charged me $13 instead of $8.50! When I told them that I ordered the house margarita, they wouldn't correct the charge. Nobody should pay $13 for a mediocre margarita made with a poor-quality tequila (diffuser-made Herradura). Will never pay for a drink here again. read more

I really wanted to like this place because I know the owners have invested a lot of money into the renovations. Unfortunately, I was extremely disappointed. For starters the margaritas are terrible!! And expensive. I would not have a problem paying $13.675 for a margarita if it were made with a fresh mix. These are sugary and gross! I ordered the skinny margarita and sent it back because it was loaded with roses lime juice and triple sec, which is not skinny at all. All sugar!! I expect fresh lime juice in a skinny marg. After sending my margarita back I decided to order a bottled beer thinking there is no way this can get messed up. The beer came cool, not cold. Gross! NO PERSON wants a cool beer. I then asked for a glass and the server brought over a glass covered in fingerprints. The service leaves something to be desired. The food is OK which is why I gave an additional star. I asked for hot sauce with my meal because there was none on the table, the server brought over a bowl rather than a bottle of hot sauce and I questioned it and he said it was the house hot sauce. When the check arrived I realized I was charged for the hot sauce!!! What!! I was never told there would be any charge, I was completely fine with a bottle of hot sauce like choloula. You need to inform someone there is a charge for hot sauce before bringing that to them. The whole experience was disappointing. I will not be going back anytime soon. Management needs to focus on service and drinks, otherwise this place won't make it once October has passed. Sad because it could be great. read more

Like pulling teeth to have them come over to your table: twenty minutes... then another fifteen... then another twenty... could not believe it. Truly, we had five wait people "serve" us, and one was worse than the next. Our table shook so bad, I had to grab packets of Sweet N Low to straighten it out. The food?? CRAP. Our meals came out cold and were literally just a pile of mush that was lacking in flavor or quality- like I was at a friend's house at two am and he decided to make us burritos with what he could find in the fridge- just so bad. Bottom Line Up Front: Good drinks, low grade food, poor management. After coming here at least 5 times I can confidently say that the management here is failing this business. They are routinely under staffed (sorry it's almost summer 2022, the COVID excuse is over) and don't know how to manage seating guests. So expect some upfront frustration on arrival if they are busy. Otherwise, this is never a problem. Food is low grade Mexican. Pretty hard to mess up. Guac and queso is horrendous (1/10 bad). Recently tried their sampler platter appetizer and was extremely unimpressed. It was essentially some chips with a few "items" tossed on top. Like 2-3 hunks of meat and some wings. Not worth the 18 bucks. Their cinco de mayo experience reflected the same. Imagine an Irish pub not anticipating being busy on saint Patrick's day - that's basically what happened here. It was upsetting to watch the bussers bring out food to the wrong table on no less than 4 occasions. There was clearly not enough coordination going on in the back of the house. So much potential. I ordered takeout from here. The food was ready quickly...too quickly, I discovered, because the guacamole was frozen. I had to push my chip through ice crystals and ended up thawing it in the microwave. In fact, I suspect all the food was frozen and reheated in the restaurant's microwave because the cheese in both the Chile relleno and my enchilada was congealed, not melted, and the insides of both were cold. Also, the food was extremely salty. I didn't even save the leftovers. I know this is a tough time for restaurants and many are short-stuffed, but frozen food? Really? First time there as it's only been open about a month, figured give it some time. This is their second restaurant as they have one in Seabrook, NH (never been there). This is the old Murphy's location but they painted the entire building a bright orang-ish tan so you won't be confused (we're not in Ireland anymore - you're in Mexico). They removed the downstairs bar completely and set up a nicely laid out design of tables and booths. They added a main bar to the upstairs along with the existing bar. The decor continues upstairs with nice booths and tiled arches. No drinks this time so can't comment here, but the food was excellent and not expensive. Had one of the many combos plus an a-la-carte item. Everything was as expected or better. Now why did I only give it 4 stars... well if you'd ever been to Murphy's, 300 Derby or Roosevelt's you know that they've had a sewage smell in the rest rooms that has never been able to get resolved. Well, it's still not. Also the rest rooms need paper towel dispensers near the sink not on the wall behind you and an update to the hand dryer. This is important if they want to get an upscale customer. Note to owner: Please address these issues asap. Will I return? You betcha! I've got to try the 'rita's. Adios. read more

We love trying new places and we've walked by Casa Tequila several times. It was a nice warm Tuesday night and we saw people out on the patio enjoying themselves. We decided to give it a shot. What a terrible mistake!!!! First off, the waiter wasn't a bad guy but he was a terrible server. We ordered drinks pretty quickly but then the server disappeared. He didn't return for over a half hour. He never checked on us. The service was so slow! Finally he came back and we ordered food. My girlfriend ordered an enchilada and I ordered a chicken quesadilla. The chicken quesadilla was literally the most disgusting thing I've ever eaten. I took one bite and almost threw up. The chicken was chewy and tasted like plastic rubber. My girlfriend is a vegetarian and even she said it smelled terrible. This meat should not be served to ANYONE! Not even a dog. The quesadilla didn't even have good cheese, no peppers or onions or anything. Just stacked with gross disgusting chicken. I debated with my girlfriend whether to tell the server how bad the food was. I'm not picky. I'm not a complainer. I've actually never told a server that I didn't like my food. Even if I didn't like something I would keep it to myself. But I HAD to say something. It literally ruined our date. I told the server it was terrible and he said "sorry to hear that." I fully expected to get the bill back and find out that they took the quesadilla off the check. Or have the manager walk over to our table and apologize and maybe give us a free desert. That's Restaurant 101..... But nope. Full price. It wasn't comped. Manager never showed up. My girlfriend and I will NEVER go back and neither should you. I feel like I flushed $35 down the toilet. You are better off going to Taco Bell. DO NOT GO HERE. You will regret it. I've never written a Yelp review before now. Casa Tequila was SO BAD that it compelled me to write this. This is when we ordered our entrees. The app was very very sub par, just microwaved cheese on some nachos with chicken. Then after the third time asking for our sodas we finally got them. Another 45 mins later were wondering where our food is, we asked the waiter who claims we never ordered entrees.
