    Watermelon Margarita
    Michelle R.

We visited Salem in October and as we drove by, I gotta admit, the tequila caught my eye. After our tour, we had to grab a bite. The restaurant was huge inside and we must have hit it at a good time, because it wasn't busy at all. I opted for the grapefruit margarita...grapefruit drinks are my jam. It was delicious, not too sweet. I saw my go-to dish on the menu, chile verde, and I couldn't resist. It was well prepared, delicious flavor, good portions. Other dishes ordered in our party were on the saltier side. Overall, I really enjoyed my meal. I would recommend stopping in.

I really enjoyed this place! We came here spur of the moment after realizing bamboleo wasn't a full menu anymore. I got the burrito wrap which was amazing. I didn't get a picture of the inside but it had everything! Guacamole, meat, pico de Gallo, cheese, you name it! It was seriously amazing. My husband got the pina loca which came served on a pineapple which was so cute! It had a special sauce that he left no droppings of! And there was plenty of meat and vegetables on top. I tried a bit and it was really great! We also had salsa and Queso to start with chips which were both great! The salsa was refreshing and so tasty! The queso was also really enjoyable! Beans were also sooo yummy! We don't drink anymore so can't comment on that but I will say they looked very cute and yummy when we looked around!

The restaurant doesn't look like much but it's actually quite massive on the inside! We went pretty early for lunch so we didn't see much people initially however it got pretty packed later in the day - even with a line forming outside! The staff is nice and really hard working. That being said, they tried their best with the long lines of people forming (during Halloween season of course) but the service to get our checks took a good amount of time. Getting the food, chips, and drinks was very fast though! Food wasn't incredible but was enough to satiate me during holiday travels. Not a bad restaurant pick - though there will probably be many other options with the touristy town

    Diablo margarita FTW!

Great atmosphere, lots of outdoor seating. Food was decent, not writing home to abuela about but the margaritas, I will say were very nice. I had the Diablo margarita and I enjoyed the spiciness of it. The wife and I split the steak burrito. The steak was cooked well but was unfortunately lacking flavor. The rice and beans were good. I will say, the service was above par. Super friendly, helpful and very attentive. The location is good if you're walking around Salem.

We only had drinks -- horrible. I appreciate our server as she tried to remake it twice but sadly it was just repeatedly warm and so watered down. We asked for salt rims on shots and got sugar rims instead--nasty. Wouldn't recommend for drinks but maybe the food is better, wouldn't know because we didn't try it.

The Halloween weekend seems to be tough for any restaurant and Casa Tequila is no exception. Even though the restaurant has different levels of seating, it is very much short of staff. The wait to enter was for 15 mins. We sat in and ordered our drink. Our server served us two rounds of nachos. Our drinks came after we finished the nachos. We ordered different margaritas and the server didn't ask if we need salting or not. So obviously my drink came without any salting. And the server had no time either to change my drink, or to even listen to the orders twice. Anyway they were too late to even give us drink that too without salting on the margarita. My wife sensing my frustration asked for some salt on the side. The server came back with it. That was just the first hour We had a lot to order. The food reached after 1.5 hours. Seems like years if you are hungry. They had huge portions. Food wasn't bad. The fajitas got stuck to the skillet and the skillet wasn't properly greased. The drinks were okayish. Overall we had a good time since we had a nice corner table outside, but it was mostly for the companies that we had and not so much credit goes to the restaurant. In between a different server came over and took some of our drinks order. Casa Tequila won't have been our first preference, seems to be the same for everyone else. They are heavily understaffed.

Great food! Authentic, hot and flavorful. The carnitas that top the cheese enchiladas, wow chefs kiss, they were delicious. Really felt like moms cooking.

We stopped in here for a rest, some margaritas, and bean dip to tie us over until dinner. We were in and out within 45 minutes so everything came very quickly. I asked for my margarita to be spicy and they did a great job with making it the perfect mix. The bean dip was delicious as well however the chips did taste a little stale.

El queso fundido. Sabe a sopa de queso diría que es 2% queso. Y no viene con tortillas. Mi amigo Mexicano quedo muy decepcionado

Very good please. We were a large party of 13 and all our drink order and food order were accurate. The staff was very nice and friendly. We had a little wait since we were a large party but over all it was a good Mexican restaurant.

Thought you could possibly mess up Mexican, boy was I wrong!!! Best part of the chicken fajita nachos were the onions. The melted america sliced cheese left a lot to be desired. Only bright dpot $14 margarita left a nice impression... aka, friend has a nice buzz. Won't come here again.

I had been wanting to check this place out for a while. I wanted to talk about the history of the building, my recollection of it being Roosevelt's, then Murphy's, the supposed apparitions of ghosts reported in the building (being located next to the old-burying point cemetery). So I come to the desk and stand there for 5 minutes, with multiple servers on their cell phones talking amongst themselves and occasionally looking up at me then back to their phones. I get it, the hostess manages guests coming in. When the hostess comes out she's polite, showed me to my table outside. I sat and waited, server came out, I ordered a guava margarita. So the drink comes out, I drink a little bit. Then I noticed something brown and speck-like. Fruit fly. Then I see multiples. Aaaaaand I'm done. I walk to the hostess desk, inform her I will not pay for the drink and explain why. If this is the quality from the restaurant, then my business is going elsewhere. Also, after looking through some other reviews, there was the same complaint made 2 months before this review, so this is not an isolated incident but a continuing problem. You have Howling Wolf and Spitfire in Salem, there are more options in the area, and this is a huge disappointment for downtown Salem.

All Souls Lounge in Salem was the perfect sanctuary. It's a small, intimate spot that fills up fast, if you don't get there early, you'll be left haunting the sidewalk waiting for a table. Luckily, they offer outdoor seating, which was great for cooling off after spending two hours surrounded by ceremonial candles. The service was remarkably fast for a packed house. The cocktails were delicious and flavorful, though if you're looking to banish your inner demons in one sip, note that they aren't the absolute strongest in town. What really stole the show, however, was the food menu: they have a massive selection of gourmet grilled cheeses and hot dogs. Speaking of which: after finishing my meal, I went home inspired to attempt another quick ritual. I was trying to summon an ancient Hot Dog Spirit to bless my midnight snack cravings, but I mangled the Latin incantation and accidentally conjured a Grilled Cheese Ghost instead. Now my apartment smells like toasted sourdough, and there is a glowing ectoplasmic slice of melted cheddar hovering over my couch. Overall, a fantastic spot to refuel whether you're a local, a tourist, or just an exhausted practitioner of the dark arts. Highly recommend!

Over the next 20 minutes (without service or even a "come to the bar to order even though you're sitting at a table") we watched as three more couples walked in, met by the bartender (who passed by us to accomplish ) brought to a table, and then served. When the second bartender came out from around the bar, we perked up, only to find them addressing yet another couple that arrived after us. We got zero drinks, we got zero acknowledgment. For a bar that says "all souls welcome", we certainly did not feel it.

Today was the pork belly tacos, the taco salad, and some beeyahs. Delicious tacos once again, crema, pickled radish, and jalapeño makes a delicious bite. The food is nothing spectacular, though it's not bad either--just kinda mid. We had the ceviche, which was decent for $16. The drink menu itself is really cool, but it is very overpriced. Because we had already had a couple of drinks elsewhere and were mostly just buying time, we opted to stick with water. The ambiance is easily the best part of the experience. It's a fun, lively rooftop bar that sits right in the middle of everything in town. It offers some nice views directly over the main pedestrian street in Salem, though honestly, beyond that, you can't see much else. The staff was friendly and welcoming. We didn't have a reservation and weren't thrilled with the seats we were given, but that's fair game for walking in. It's a neat place to stop in for a quick view if you're passing through, but be prepared for typical tourist-heavy prices for drinks.
