Worst bloody mary I've ever had! $41 for some seafood slapped onto a drink. The lobster still had it's digestive track left for me to eat! Yay what a treat! The only redeeming this was the view. Staff was cold!

The food is always incredible! This time I did not enjoy my meal. This place has a broken air conditioner and still expects people to pay full price for a meal and sweat. 102 outside about 95 inside. If I wanted to be overheated while eating I would have requested an outdoor dining experience. Not a hotbox eating expensive meal with the heat on inside. Place is great. Manager said that the A/C is broken and that they don't know when it will be repaired. The owner knows. If the owner get someone down to his restaurant and have it fixed ASAP. The calamari was over done and the soda was flat. The sea bass was great but couldn't enjoy it eating in a restaurant that has no A/C.

Had the fresh oysters at Sea Level Oyster Bar and they were excellent--clean, flavorful, and super fresh - And at only $1.50 each? Hard to beat. The clam chowder was very tasty too! The service was great and they were very nice. Definitely coming back.

If you're looking for a great seafood place that is off the beaten path, especially during the peak of Halloween craziness, Sea Level Oyster Bar is that. The restaurant has two levels, we were quickly seated upstairs during their lunch rush. We're big fans of local brews and oysters - which Sea Level delivers on. We had 3 different types of oysters - all of which were excellent. We split an order of fried calamari, drunken sailor clams and fish tacos. The fried calamari had cherry peppers, so beware of a kick, the drunken sailor clams is an absolute must, and the fish tacos were solid but a bit on the dry side. All of our food was great, our waitress was attentive and we had beautiful views of the harbor. If we're ever back in the Salem area, we've both agreed Sea Level will be our first stop.

Service was fantastic. A storm Was quickly approaching and servers and customers all worked together to pull down the plastic side walls for the outdoor deck. The view from the deck is peaceful and creates a nice nautical setting to the great food and drink! I liked my spicy mocktail and when I asked if the seared scallops dish could be put on top of pasta, the server and kitchen created a completely new fish for me not on the menu. That is how you meet the needs of your customers. I would love to go back!

Where do I even start with this restaurant . Amazing staff Amazing service, And amazing food. . Honestly if I could get fresh oyster to try this would definitely be the place. Very very nice place to go with a good view. This place would definitely be my go backs if I go back to Salem. Recommend the lobster roll very fresh and warm with a buttery dressing. The burger was tasteful with the side of fries. Let's talk about the baked mussels absolutely amazing!

Last September, my girlfriends and I visited Salem for a witchy adventure. We decided to go with the flow and pick the first restaurant we saw as we explored the area. Fortunately, luck was on our side because we ended up loving our lunch! We shared oysters and a variety of tacos, and they were not only delicious, but the experience was enjoyable despite the longer-than-usual wait caused by our order being accidentally sent to the wrong table. The bartender was great and treated us well while we waited. It was a beautiful day, so we also enjoyed our meal outside. If I return to Salem, I would definitely go back!

Typical east coast seafood bar and restaurant with a great view of the water and all the vibes you'd expect. Oysters were very very fresh! Clam chowder was really great too. The lobster roll was good, but I've had many better ones in Boston. However, kudos to the generous lobster portions!

The weather was perfect and the outdoor patio was the perfect spot to enjoy with our pup. Food was average but service was excellent and extremely dog friendly. Our waitress even made a little pup mocktail for our dog with water and strawberries. Overall, an a-okay spot to stop especially with a dog.

Went here for dinner while visiting Salem and really loved that it didn't feel too touristy with an awesome waterfront view. The Scary Mary was showstopper in the best way possible if you're looking for a fun photo-op, loaded with seafood, bacon, and steak pieces. After a few days of trying so many lobster rolls, I opted for the Bourbon Marinated Steak Tips. They were tender, flavorful, and so good with the whipped potatoes and bourbon glaze. Definitely one of my favorite meals in Salem! Great service and suggestions from the staff!

It was our first trip to Massachusetts, and while exploring Salem, a local recommended we stop at Sea Level for lunch. We took their advice and made the short walk to the wharf--and we're so glad we did! We were warmly greeted by Emma, who was friendly, attentive, and full of great recommendations. She suggested a few of her favorites, and they did not disappoint. We started with oysters--three East Beach Blonde from Rhode Island and three from Wellfleet, Massachusetts. Both were fresh and flavorful, but the East Beach were my personal favorite. For our main course, we shared the Roasted Haddock with potatoes and vegetables. Everything was perfectly cooked and seasoned. I also couldn't resist ordering the clam chowder--because, well... Boston! It was rich, creamy, and absolutely delicious. While the food was amazing, what really stood out was the combination of exceptional service and the laid-back, coastal vibe. It made the entire experience memorable. Sea Level is definitely a spot I'd recommend to anyone visiting Salem!

It smells like fish in here! Haha and that's a great sign! They have a stunning view of the Salem Harbor and our servers were very kind. We went with the oyster platter and some nachos and cheese, along with a mocktail. While I didn't eat the oysters, my brother really enjoyed them and I loved my nacho spread with all the different dips! If you're in a mood to try some new things or already love fresh fish, then this place is for you! If we're ever back in town, we will surely stop in again to indulge in some different menu options!

Stopped in for some oysters and they were great! Service was amazing. We sat outside and it was beautiful to look out at the water.

Hey there! Does anyone know if Sea level allows customers to have their luggage with them while they are seated eating? Or even outside to eat? Our rental would not allow us to drop off luggage before it was ready.. Thanks!

Yes, it seemed casual enough to allow that. Plus they have a front desk where they might be able to store the items for you.

Is there a dollar oyster special? Any happy hour special? Thanks

Not when I was there they only had drink and pizza specials and they do not appear to have a happy hour menu.

My friend had the New England Clam chowder and lobster roll. The bowl of clam chowder was huge and he devoured it. The lobster roll was served Connecticut style and went down very easy. Coming from Colorado, he could not wait to get his hands on this regional cuisine. I can't speak for the rest of our table but nobody complained and there were many empty plates that went back to the kitchen. The service was excellent and friendly. The prices are very competitive for the area and nothing exorbitant. There are public parking lots located in the area. Highly recommend a visit.

After walking by earlier, we decided on the Shanty for dinner. We ordered some of the fried cheese curds for an appetizer with a couple drinks and each got the lobster roll. Everything tasted fresh and I really enjoyed the softness of the bread with the lobster. The fries were not as great. Just something about them didn't hit like I hoped. Our server was great and the restaurant was busy but not packed so it felt nice and relaxed for our meal. The lobster roll is listed at market price so make sure you take note of that when you order. I think they were around $40 each which is a little pricey. We would definitely come back whenever we have a craving for lobster in Salem.

No worries, the dude will lecture your elderly parents his unsolicited opinions on how the soup will spill everywhere, so you shouldn't do it. Funny enough, the same dude spilled the soup all over the place when he was bringing them to us. Aside from the rude dude, prices are insane. We are not even in peak season, so they are serving the locals but their prices have a 50% or so markup from industry average. ($40 for a small and $60 for a large lobster roll). They have an automatic 20% gratuity on parties of 3 or more, so they get rewarded on their bad service no matter what. I highly recommend avoiding this dump.

After roaming the streets, checking…read moreout all the witch museums and novelty shops, we realized all we had this afternoon was a cup of coffee. We were starving so we looked up lobster roll near us and a shop next to the harbor popped up. So we made our way there. Unfortunately, it was a to go joint. We wanted to enjoy a site down meal so we looked again. The Clam Shack was near us so we made our way there. Parking our car, I'm looking at the shop and it honestly looked like a setting from a Hallmark movie. A cute little shop, in a park, with the harbor in the background with boats freely floating in the water, with the sun beaming through the fluffy clouds and people happily eating on bright blue tables. Like, how much more perfection could be added to this scene? It was simply breathtaking. We made our way to the window. A sweet young lady greeted us! It was wonderful having such great customer service right of the bat! I told the gal that I wanted a lobster roll. It was a must have being in Massachusetts! My daughter got a seafood plate with fried haddock and clams. We got a little of everything so we were excited to eat! It should be criminal to have this kind of food available to you all the time! To live by the water and have this kind of seafood makes me want to move here. My lobster roll looked like perfection wrapped in food paper. My daughter's plate was overflowing with fried goodness. Our food tasted as good as it looked! My lobster was mixed in butter on a soft buttery roll. Ughhhh it was heavenly! The lobster was tender, fresh and amazingly prepared. I tried a piece of my daughter's haddock and clams. You can't get seafood fresher than this. The haddock tasted like it was just caught and cooked. The fries were fried perfectly! Being from Idaho, this was the first place that has given us potatoes that I have approved of! Everything we so so so good! I couldn't have asked for a better last meal on my vacation in Boston. The food, the scene, the customer service and location of this seafood joint was something I could have ever dreamt of. My time eating here with my daughter will forever be a core memory for me. I don't know if I'll ever get the chance to come back but if I do, I hope my next visit is just as perfect as today's.

Really Good Food, Just Bring a Little Patience…read more It was 68° and one of those genuinely nice summer days, so we decided to eat outside at The Village Tavern. The patio was clean, quiet, and not overly crowded. No tables packed together, no one yelling over the next table, and no need to spend the meal trying to dodge somebody else's conversation. Just a nice, comfortable spot to eat. Our server was friendly, helpful, and attentive for most of the meal. The only issue was the timing. The food took a while to come out, which was a little surprising because it really wasn't that busy. Then, after we finished, I sat with empty plates in front of me for quite a while before finally getting her attention to ask for the check. I'm not asking for instant service, but once the food is gone, I'm usually ready to begin the portion of the meal where I leave. The two waits together were enough to cost a star. Fortunately, the food was very good. We started with the cheesy pretzel bites and avocado fries. Both were delicious and both disappeared pretty quickly. The pretzel bites came with herb butter, garlic, Parmesan, mozzarella, parsley and pomodoro sauce. Lots of cheese, plenty of flavor, and exactly the kind of appetizer that's going to be gone before anyone has had a chance to decide whether they want another one. The avocado fries were crispy on the outside, creamy inside, and just as good. My wife got the French dip and really liked it. The bread was toasted perfectly, the cheese was melted just right, and the au jus was hot and flavorful. Nothing fancy about it, just a really well-done French dip. The kids both got burgers. My son ordered his with ketchup only, but it came with mayo. He was not happy about that, and I can't really argue with him. If I order ketchup only, I'm also going to be wondering how mayo managed to make the cut. My daughter got the Rodeo Smash Burger with BBQ sauce and onion rings and loved it. Everybody got fries, and they were probably the most consistently good thing on the table. Cooked perfectly and seasoned well without being ridiculously salty. You could actually taste the potato, which feels like a reasonable expectation that restaurants occasionally treat as an ambitious request. I got the Cantina Short Rib Tacos, and these were easily my favorite. Shredded short rib, lettuce, salsa verde, pico de gallo, cilantro and sour cream. The short rib was tender, rich, and full of flavor, and the toppings worked really well together. The salsa verde and pico brought some acidity and freshness, the cilantro added another layer, and the sour cream balanced out the richness of the beef. Nothing overpowered anything else. Just really good tacos with a lot of flavor in every bite. The menu also had quite a few other things that caught my attention. The Reuben in particular. I noticed it after I'd already ordered, which is always unfortunate because now I have to come back and see if it was worth ignoring everything else for. There were several other things I'd happily try too. So, four stars. The food was very good, the patio was comfortable, and the service was friendly. The food took longer than it should have on a relatively quiet day, and waiting for the check after we were already finished didn't help. Neither ruined the meal, but both were noticeable. Clean up the timing a little and this would be an easy five.
