The service was HORRIBLE!!! Aside from rude and unresponsive table service, the waitress recommends a crab leg dish that she said is for one person ("small") at Market Price. She left quickly and abruptly before we could ask the market price and 20 min. later there are 3.5 pounds of crab legs on our table. She proceeded to charge us $195.00 for this one dish that was easily for 3 people. To add to the issue, the food was not good. We paid, but took issue with this approach and politely spoke to the manager when leaving to suggest that their staff should explain dishes more accurately to customers as we felt we were played. Instead of the manager listening to constructive feedback, he (and 3 other people, seeming like they wanted to start a brawl) says, "I can't help you if you can't afford the food here and you should not come to restaurants you can't afford". I found it extremely insulting and a bit comical. I let him have it (verbally) and left. This was the WORST SERVICE I have experienced in a restaurant. Stay Away!!! I really did enjoy eating there with my family for a mother day dinner. Our waitress was amazing and very attentive. Yet, I believe they need to do something with their valet guy that was there yesterday May 10,2018 around 6-8. The valet guy was very rude and pompous. We drove up and get out the car. He tells us in Spanish we can't leave the car there. Regardless, there was no car around. We move the car for his convenience. Onces we leave the restaurant we had to ask him to go get our car. Never acknowledge us no comments no nothing. Other then that bad experience with valet parking the restaurant and atmosphere is great. However their online ordering system definitely needs improvement. 1) we got email our order was ready it was not close to be ready when we arrived to pick up 2) definitely heavy handed in their weighing. We ordered 1 lb of 2 kinds of fish. Website showed our total was around $30 before tax. Casablanca is always amazing. My family has been here numerous time to celebrate birthdays. Recently we went and celebrated with a pretty big group of 18, and the waitress was so nice , I wish I got her name because she was working hard, and I could tell there were only like three waitresses. I think that they knew they were getting a large group she should of received some help. The restaurant was packed too. Drinks were not great, only the mojitos were good, which I do not know what they put it them but I had two and I was feeling it! I experienced the same think at another Fish restaurant in West Miami,where they no longer serve the tasty fish spread and crackers. AAAAAAAH, you are a multiple repeat customer, we are raking in the bucks......now, lets end the niceties and see a little extra profit by charging you for the fish spread and crackers. Again, no bread was served with our meal. God forbid a little yeast, egg and butter, send Casablanca to the poor house. We ordered Conch fritters that were very tasty and very small. Let's mistreat, abuse and take advantage of the customers. They will always be there, they'll take whatever we dish out. No we won't. We ordered fried calamari and for a moment i thought we had mistakenly ordered a Miami River Happy Meal. The portions have shrunken since the last time I was there. #METOO, is how i'm feeling right now. We ordered a 2nd round of drinks and my friend thats facing the entire restaurant and notices that after waiting for our food for 1 hour!!!, the other tables that arrived after us were getting theirs and our waiter was approached by someone and whispered in his ear. Our waiter then glanced at us. We had been trying to flag him down for like 20 minutes but he continued to avoid our look. We waved at him like as if we were castaways and all i said to him, "A free round of drinks is the least you can do" "We've been waiting over an hour for our food". He had the audacity to claim he had no idea that the kitchen had burnt one of our orders. He knew all along but refused to come by our table. Im talking about 3 Entrees, each costing $35, $32 and $20+. We did get 2 drinks and a lemonade. When we finally got our meal, my fried fish was breaded. I said " this is not what I ordered, I ordered fried fish". The waiter, said loudly, "breaded fish is fried!" and I retorted, loudly as well "Not all fried fried fish is breaded fish, and you did not say it was breaded". I handed him the plate back. I will go to GARCIAS instead next time, unless they choose to F%#$@* it up as well. That night, we parted ways outside and passed on the temptation to to the "THE WHARF", for which I had SUPERBOWL-viewing tickets. It's good thing we did. Our friend in the other car never made it to the bathroom at her home in the Gables. CASABLANCA was all over her car. She was sick all night with food poisoning from the Branzino she ordered. She called Casablanca to let them know what had happened. They listened and basically couldn't care less. No apology, no gratitude for the heads up. It's very unfortunate when good food is overshadowed by poor service and takes away from the overall dining experience. Being from out-of-town, a few of the fishing guides I've been out with in the past recommended this place and mentioned the quality was much better than many of the others in Miami. As for atmosphere, the view on the Miami River is wonderful, meanwhile people smoking while you're eating isn't attractive for most Americans. We ran into that issue frequently on this night. That's beside the point and allowed. The unfortunate issue was the service. It took 15 minutes for someone to even come by our table and ask if we wanted something to drink, another 10 to convince someone to take our order and at least 25 minutes for our food to arrive. Mind you, it was 30 minutes before close. You could see groups of servers standing around hanging out with each other, rather than attending to tables. After ordering a beer we had to grab another server while we were eating dinner to get another. Our server never asked how our food was, nor cared. And, I had to walk up to the counter 15 minutes after we finished our dinner and ask for a check. For a place with quality food and for charging as much as they do, service should be a priority, not a chore. As for the food itself, sure it's good, but pricey. I'm guessing you're paying for the view, but Garcia's nextdoor is half the price, sadly they closed early and we were forced to go to Casablanca. Having been to 100s of similar restaurants this place is way overpriced and offers poor value. As for the food we had, my mahi mahi and our grouper fillets were good, not great. They lacked any flavor, but did taste fresh, but one small fillet and four pieces of vegetables for $28? No thanks. Casablanca Grilled Parrillada is very good, however, and likely worth it's value. In short, if you can find a way to get better service and don't mind spending a bit more to get solid scenery and fresh fish, this place is worth it. This was a special night for us celebrating a birthday. We ordered a bottle of Prosecco to start, we ended up having 2 bottles. Great taste, served chilled and in chilled flutes both time. To share we got grilled calamari which was seasoned well, both sauces it came with really complemented the extremely freshly tasting calamari. We also ordered the octopus ceviche and being Peruvian I am very critical of ceviche. I give this dish 9.5/10. The octopus was cooked to PERFECTION, the acid of the ceviche was just right, and the salt was perfect. Only reason I don't give this dish 10/10 is because the garnish was fried string potatoes which were a bit chewy which seemed old and not right our if the fryer. Next time leave them out if they aren't right out of the fryer. I appreciated the texture they provided. Lastly we ordered their seafood grill and added a lobster tail. We also requested their habanero sauce. The sauce stands on it own, very flavorful and also quite spicy. The grill had mussels, clams, shrimp, fish fillet, prawns, shrimp, potatoes, oysters, and peppers. I personally felt the lobster was a bit over cooked, but all others were perfectly cooked. We ended the meal with the tres leches cake (one of the best I've ever had) and the brownie with ice cream on the big bowl. Both very good desserts. I strongly recommend this restaurant. This is a review for the Fish Market ONLY. Excellent quality and variety of mostly LOCAL! Fish at low prices. Nice presentation as well service, they will fillet your fish the way you like it. I have been here several times and bought various varieties of Grouper and, Snapper. They were always very very fresh. And do not skip out on the dessert. I got the flan & it was truly amazing. They bring out a giant tray filled with different desserts to show you what kind of desserts they have instead of giving you a desert menu. I love that idea! Amazing experience! We made reservations for Saturday night. The hostess was very pleasant. The restaurant was extremely clean and following all covid precautions. Our waiter was Michel, he was excellent!! He was constantly checking up on us and he knew the menu. The staff were ready to help make the freshest and best selections. The fish were SO fresh. The market is located right on the Miami river where you can literally see the fishing boats coming back with the fish ready to be cleaned right there. We ordered three different types of fish, but I could have bought the whole store. They offer fillets and whole fish, shrimp, conch, stone crabs, monster lobster, and the list goes on!
