His daiquiri was absolutely to die for--perfectly balanced, refreshing, and unlike any daiquiri I've ever had. Then came the margarita, and I can honestly say it was the best margarita I've ever had in my life. We came here for brunch during Spice. I had checked out the menu ahead of time and was completely underwhelmed by the Spice menu, so I was planning on ordering off of the regular menu. Friends made the reservation for 10:45. As it happens, the Spice "Brunch" is actually lunch and isn't available until noon, so the regular menu was the only option anyway. Also, their kitchen is closed between 11 and 12, but we were given the option to order breakfast anyway. I'm not sure how much of that snafu is down to the member of our party who made the reservation, and how much is down to the restaurant's management, but regardless, we definitely started off on the wrong foot. When we arrived, initially the only indoor seating was right next to the floor to ceiling windows. Great view but BRIGHT and HOT! Thankfully, a table closer to the center of the room became available and we relocated. We started with a round of Bloody Marys. They came with a cute little single serve bottle of Tabasco so you could adjust the heat. I wish they had come with an airline bottle of vodka, because they were NOT very strong! Two of us had the vegan skillet and two had various eggs benedict (crab and smoked salmon, I think). The food was good! I'm not a big breakfast fan, but this was nicely savory and just filling enough without causing food coma. The service was just OK. The acoustics in the room are horrible, so I could only really have a conversation with the person sitting next to me (not across the table) and it was next to impossible to hear the server. We were also brought the bill for another table and it took a while to get that corrected. All in all, the room is gorgeous, the view is gorgeous, the food is overpriced but decent. My friend and I stopped in for lunch after a great spa visit. We sat at the bar and the bartender greeted us promptly. We each had a cocktail. I started with the pumpkin soup. It was delicious. For our mains I had the Caprese sandwich and my friend had lobster tacos. After eating the soup, it was a large serving. I could not eat my entire sandwich. Y'all know that since Cosmic Gate released "Exploration of Space" the Full Moon on the beach is fixed on my social calendar. Although usually I go to the regular Full Moon party a little further north, a close friend who lives in the area told me about the dinner party at The Strand for Full Moon night. While there's an indoor dining room, we chose to enjoy the sunset vibe and live music outside on the ocean view terrace. We started with a couple of fruity yet strong cocktail specials they had for their lunar dinner. My impression is they were tropical variations on an old fashioned (mine) and martini (hers), with mixers such as egg white creme & blueberries. The bartender did a great job mixing, as they well blended. For dinner, we shared both their Truffle & Prosciutto, as well as a Strawberry Burratini salad. The prosciutto on the pie was generously portioned, thinly sliced, fresh kale & perfectly aromatic truffles. A creamy ball of straciatella cheese over a bed of kale, sliced strawberries & crunchy walnuts made our salad. Both dishes were light, healthy but tasty. The group wanted to have a brunch with an elevated ambience and standout dishes so we ventured to The Strand to try out the Miami Spice Menu. If you are looking for an experience that seamlessly blends culinary artistry with heartfelt sustainability, you need to try chef Christopher Robertson's menu. The menu is thoughtful as it is flavorful and the service was friendly. I chose the Heirloom Tomato dish as my first course, it was delicately plated with native pecan oil, basil, truffle pecorino toscano. My second course was the Steak and Eggs. It was an elevated preparation of a comfort classic. Lastly but certainly not least, for dessert, the options shine with simplicity but perfect ending with the Passion Fruit Mousse. You'll want to enjoy a drink at the pool bar called Seaglass. I had the Pastelito, like a Moscow mule but with guava. I was most impressed with chef Robertson's thoughtful sustainability efforts using local farms, plastic-free packaging and other partnerships. It's conscious dining! I came here on a Friday night to check out the Miami spice menu. The day before I looked online to booked a reservation for 7pm, but none were available, so I called to inquire about bar seating. The hostess, Marcia, cheerfully answered my questions and even made a reservation on my behalf. Upon arrival, Marcia greeted me by name and gave me options for seating. I chose a spot in the corner, which I regretted only because there wasn't much airflow in that area. My server was James and he was great. He provided honest and accurate recommendations. He was attentive, kind, and informed. The fabulously fizzy mocktail was delicious and refreshing! However, I believe it's a bit pricey for a drink without alcohol. The artichoke carpaccio was pretty tasty. I didn't know what to expect but I ate most of it. The white sauce was tasty and the granola added a good crunch. The SPICY PACCHERI ALLA VODKA was simple and good. I do think there could have been a little more flavor in the dish, but I still enjoyed it. The tiramisu was amazing! The Strand Waterfront Restaurant is located on the ground floor of the Carrillon Wellness Resort & Spa in South Beach, Miami and serves ultra healthy, ultra low calorie, basic, no-frills, simple, plain, mostly vegetarian breakfast, lunch, and dinner with a menu you'd expect from an overzealous obnoxiously strict gym fitness trainer who is pushing vegetarianism and does not believe in sauces or seasonings. I really had a hard time choosing anything off the menu here because so few of the options actually include meat or protein and most of the options on the menu only have vegetables. The custom wellness bowl comes with your choice of 6 ounces of protein, grilled vegetables, and a starch. I choose the Shrimp Wellness bowl with a protein of 6 grilled shrimp, grilled asparagus, and a starch of white rice. Unfortunately the wellness bowl came with no sauce or seasoning and is incredibly bland. The restaurant needs to carry soy sauce, teriyaki sauce, Thai sauce, or black beans for the dry rice. We started with an outstanding dish of fried hearts of artichoke dressed with shaved Parmesan, lemon aioli and fresh lemon. Think Cucina Povera but as made by Valentino Garavani at his villa in Rome. Whether you're paesano or glitterati, you're gonna swoon over this dish: pure perfection. The flavor palette definitely conveys coastal, more Amalfi than Miami. Deftly executed: hearts only of at least 3 large artichokes, cut into 12 sections. Light, tempura coating. Either flash fried at an exact temp or air fried. Crunchy exterior, creamy interior with distinctive oyster-like flavor. The Parmesan adds a richness to the humble thistle. Enjoy "the fries" straight up. A little lemon juice gives complements with a high note. Try the lemon aioli for a more complex bite. We quickly found a condiment pattern that carried us through our assault on the haystack of artichokes before us. The portion was very generous. But we floated through it, giddy with delight over the dish and engaged in conversation certainly as hapoy as any heard at Valentino's. Garavari is a hard act to follow, so I adjusted my expectations. But I was very happy with the freshness of both my arugula, tomato and mozzarella on ciabatta sandwich and the colorful, crispy garden salad. My companion had the Ravioli Caprese. The basil was puréed with olive oil and piped on top - there is no asparagus. We felt the dish's balance was a little heavy on the tomato. Our dessert was a passeggiata of Miami Blue. Zero calories! The dining room has a Scandinavian spa feel. Which is to say clean lines with lots of glass and earth tones. But I get it. If you're engaged in an exercise regimen and on a reduced calorie diet, it's a survival tactic to focus on the food, not the decor, and to eat it slowly. The service was amazing! The staff was extremely welcoming and very helpful ensuring our experience was satisfactory. I went for happy hour which is 4 to 6 pm Sunday through Thursday. The food was phenomenal. We had Crispy polenta which was my absolute favorite, banana split, cheese pizza, smash burger with a delicious special sauce, arancini barolo, fingerling bravas wits saffron aioli, and oysters mignonette. The espresso martini was absolutely delicious too. The entire evening was perfect. Great company while sharing even more delicious food and drinks. It was my first time there, and we had a good time among friends. However, if it weren't for the scene and the service, this restaurant is not impressive. I think that the interior design, the location and the price they charge is above the quality of the food they deliver. The menu is short, which many times I prefer, and usually that represents excellent quality. I don't think this is the case, it is just average. I ordered the wellness option, which I liked very much, but mind you that 6 grams of grilled shrimp, quinoa and a three slices of grilled eggplant are not worth $30. I would recommend this place to enjoy the terrace with the ocean view and to have some drinks. read more

Perfect in-between lunch during a spa day!   My friend and I decided to have a spa day a few weeks ago at the Carillon (by the way, GREAT spa with great massages and amazing amenities) and decided to have lunch at the hotel.  I had been at the Strand restaurant in the past and had not been impressed before but this time, I have to say that the service and food was fantastic!  It was a perfect match to our relaxing spa day.  I decided to get the burger which was very good. The meat was perfectly seasoned and cooked.  The fries were nice and crispy just how I like them.  I also got to try my friend's Truffle Mushroom Pizza and it was OMG so good!!!  I will definitely order that the next time I go there.  Our meal was perfectly paired with a nice prosecco.  Overall, we had a great experience there.  Service was very attentive and food was delicious! read more

Unfortunately we visited the area of the restaurant and the spa. The Spa could be in better conditions, the Sauna that supposed to be aromatic was not working 100%. Restaurant: The bar was not good regarding drinks. And I lost my wallet between the restaurant and the Spa area. My wife and I went here to celebrate our last Miami Spice dinner for 2021. The service was excellent. I did question why they had an interesting Miami Spice menu but their regular menu was like a typical beach menu. The waiter told me that they used Miami Spice to try new ideas. This should have been a warning sign to me, which it was. My wife and I both had the conch chowder and stuffed quail. The overly spicy chowder has a few chunks of clam, the quail was not stuffed and smaller/skinnier than my pet parakeet (not stuffed with anything except tiny bones.) We ate. My wife didn't eat dessert, said she had to go to the restroom. I never recalled her doing that before. Fast forward to midnight. I have been in out of the bathroom, squirting out whatever it is they ," fed " me. It is now 1:15 a.m. and if this doesn't clear up I may go to an Urgent Care Center, have them take a stool sample and bring the results to a lawyer in the morning. I think that I may have gotten food poisoning from this place. read more

It was our restaurant of last resort anyway and glad we did not eat dinner there because it's very overpriced! Don't go to The Strand for dinner. It's not a good choice unless last resort... but choose the bar although nothing special and the bar bites are good and bar staff is much more accommodating once you get your own seats. It's such a bummer when you are excited for a really good meal at an expensive restaurant and it turns out to be a total waste of calories as well as money. That's been my experience at The Strand. I will never get the time back that I waited for slow amateur service and inedible food. There is no coming back from virtually raw pasta that was served with the sauce that is saltier than the sea. A bite into the beef burger that has clearly rancid meat is nothing less than a death wish. The French fries must be the cheapest brand of frozen potatoes in the universe. The menu is extremely limited and the charges for the items are price gouging on the beach like no other. The service is virtually non existent. The food sits in the service window of the open kitchen until it's ice cold and my husband has to walk over and request our food that we can see as multiple servers turn a blind eye and walk right past it. No one comes by to ask if our food is ok or to even refill our beverages. Again, we have to get up to flag down a staff member for a beverage refill or even for our check. The staff appear to avoid their tables by congregating in corners to socialize. I dare you to try to find a more expensive menu on the beach. The prices are obscene. Did I mention that the iced tea is old and cloudy with the taste of tea that has sat around for days. It's the little things and the big things that this restaurant needs to improve. The menu is extremely limited. The options are lazy choices for the kitchen. The menu lacks comfort food options and creativity. The night we came they offered no specials or soups although we could count no less than 6 cooks chatting in the kitchen. The cooks were chatting it up in the open kitchen because the restaurant was empty. Can you imagine such inattentive service with an empty restaurant. We shared our thoughts on the food and a manager never came over to the table although we could see her standing around. No table visits were done by manager. Cherish your time, skip the wasting of calories and money and avoid this restaurant. I will change my post if I am ever notified of improvements. I will try again after improvements and hopefully be able to report that this ideal location on the beach is worth your time and effort. The restaurant is also open to the public. The restaurant is located towards the back of the hotel. They have both indoor and outdoor seating, we decided to sit outside to enjoy the ocean view and breeze. They were super busy for a Thursday afternoon and so service was a bit slow but that's understandable. I had the lobster roll, which was good. My boyfriend had the lamb shawarma which was even better!! The lamb was perfectly seasoned and the red onions, cumcumber, feta cheese and tzatziki combo was delicioussss. Get the shawarma! read more

Our waiter, forgot his name but he was from Costa Rica, was the absolute sweetest person, extremely cheery and every time he came to our table he put a smile on our face with his extremely positive attitude. We sat outside and the view was spectacular. It was exceptionally hot out but thankfully there were some tables under the umbrella that helped cool us down.
