Included in the valve replacement cost, they excavated and replaced the old and inadequate builder-installed utility box with a much better one. The technician diagnosed a leaking evaporator coil and gave me a verbal estimate around $1,800 (labor only, since the part was under warranty). However, when the written estimate came through, it had jumped to $2,400. That lack of consistency didn't sit right with me. I then called Christmas Air, explained the situation, and received a straightforward quote over the phone that was actually a bit lower than Red Star's original estimate.
