I appreciate the skill and experience of the staff, including the assistants. The optical department has its own rules for insisting on ordering two lenses, even if only one needs to be replaced. I can't speak for others, but Jospeh Laya is an amazing optometrist! I've seen him for about 20 years and he always fits me well for contacts and glasses. I have issues with my eyes beyond correction and he is always thorough, running every useful test and interpreting the results clearly. He also seeks the lowest cost solutions. Dr.Laya is a great doctor. I was treated very well during my appointments by all of the staff. I am a bit confused as to why their office phone recording says they are closed at 3:00pm when their office closes at 5:00pm. I'm supposed to have an upcoming appointment to fill out my paperwork before my surgery but I received a phone call saying my appointment was canceled and I can't seem to be able to get anyone on the phone because their recording always says they are closed. I really need to know if my appointment is canceled and if it has been rescheduled so that I do not miss my appointment. I've had no problems with Cascade Eye Care until now, they've been wonderful. I just would like to know what is going on so that I make sure I'm there for my appointments. read more

Dr. Joe is great! I found out I needed glasses a couple years back now he helped me pick out a nice pair of ray bans and a pair sunglasses he had many choices to choose from and didn't seem to mind that it took me an hour to pick out the perfect pair. Went back in November and he taught me how to put contact lenses in my eyes I never thought that I would be sticking my finger in My eye but here I am doing it! Thanks Dr. Joe for taking the time to teach me to do something that is incredibly foreign to me it's nice to be able to see again and it is a little easier not cleaning my glasses all the time. read more

Everyone has gone out of their way to treat our whole family with nothing but benevolence. I enjoy coming to this office because I know I will be treated with respect and compassion. I had a terrible experience with Dr. Laya and his optician, Melina. Unfortunately, I had to file a complaint with my insurance provider and see another doctor to resolve my issue. I have never had to make a complaint against any medical provider I have had but this experience warranted the complaint. I'm so impressed with this establishment. I went for my appointment as new patient. was greeted by really nice tech, I only had to wait 5 minutes before she brought me back to start the tests. She was very polite and explained everything I asked about. I waited another 3 minutes after she was done for the doctor. They are very punctual. Dr. Laya is GREAT. He genuinely seems very excited by what he does. He showed me pictures of my retinas from a previous test and explained all of it too. He also asked where I worked and how long I had been in Redding, he seemed very personable and approachable. Afterwards I went to pick out a new pair of glasses. Dr. Laya and his techs helped me. They told me about the brands and picked out a few and told me if they looked good or not. They didn't rush me or upsell me by picking out expensive pairs. Also, what he charges for a new a patient examine and checkup is very reasonable. I really could not have had a better experience at Advantage Eye Care. He now has his own business location and does a very fine job of staying personal but also keeping things professional. He has a great memory and always brings up things like family and life events in natural conversation. Prices are fair for services rendered and the staff always seems to be upbeat and in good moods.
