Warning: Predatory Billing, Dishonesty They have an initial "fixed" visit price of $89 and a completely random, undetermined, make-up-as-they-please price for contacts examination. Upon my arrival for my appointment, I specifically told the receptionist at the front desk that I need truthful, honest up front pricing as I was on a fixed income and was unable to work at the moment due to personal reasons. I read their policy on cost and went over all the details with the front desk receptionist. I confirmed the initial visit price and asked that she find out exactly what my additional price would be for contacts examination. The receptionist took this information back to speak with the optometrist so that I could decide if I could continue with my exam upon receiving truthful and honest pricing. The receptionist came back and told me it wouldn't be more than an additional $100. I confirmed more times than necessary if that was all that I would expect and that I should not expect a surprise bill. I told her to please confirm with the doctors, and she did, or so she claimed. I completed my examinations and paid roughly $200 out of pocket. To my unfortunate surprise, about a month later I received a new bill from this predatory office asking for an additional amount, upwards of $70. Apparently they decided the additional $120 for a contacts examination wasn't enough that they needed to bill me more. So much for truthful, honest, upfront pricing from this office! I will absolutely share this terrible. predatory, dishonest experience with my spouse, colleagues, neighbors and church. Stay away unless you want deceptive practices! read more

To be filed under; " Be careful what you ask for." I don't know if it's my western hat or having seventy in my rear view, but I've never had a health care professional as dismissive of my input and later my concerns as Dr. Jitosho who did my prescription at Shasta Eye Medical Group. Twice. To be perfectly clear, I know if what I'm looking at is blurry even if I can barely discern the correct answer. In fact that's how I'm reading roadsigns these days. Perhaps I should be grateful since it adds a bit of adventure to these mountain roads. Operating my computer is a blast too. I can see the screen on my 14" MacBook perfectly. If my nose is over the keyboard and within a foot of the screen. Same with my phone, books etc. There must be a per use rental on Shasta Eye's equipment, or maybe the bum's rush I received after driving a 120 mile round trip to have this prescription corrected by a diopter I held over my left eye is simply how they do business. No adjustment of my reading distance per my request either. Then there's the $450+ spent on two pairs of glasses. One to figure out the first prescription didn't work as well as the glasses it replaced and another pair of glasses that I'll be squinting at road signs and my computer with for a while. I may have lost some of the edge I had in my youth but that does not negate the twenty plus years I spent standing behind a camera, or the time I spent teaching cinematography so I do know what's in focus and I assure you my mental faculties are functioning far better than the staff at Shasta Eye's will as they are reading this review. read more

We have been happy patients for years. This office is run by actual eye surgeons, supported by happy employees, and has the latest equipment. The front desk runs like clockwork. I'm shocked that this larkspur opticals is still In business with unprofessional staff. You call them, and they pick a fight with you and hang up on you. You go to their shop on larkspur, and they want to you to take delivery of the crap they made for you a as Nd if you say I can't see very well then they roll their eyes just as if you are the child. This office knew they would refuse to fill my glasses script when they called me in for a yearly exam. I wasted time and trust with them. After several years of frustration with glasses that did not work at all for me, as I was always told to take them and I would get used to them, I refused to take the last pair, which were brand new and didn't work at all. At that point, I decided I needed a better exam, so I switched docs. The new doc saw me once, fitted me with perfect glasses snd retired. He turned his business over to another company. I got a call for a yearly exam. I had no idea it was the place that couldn't make me glasses. It was a different name and location. I was tricked. The doc had no bedside manner, but he seemed to know what he was doing. The gals that spent a lot of time with me fitting frames were kind and caring. I got a call on my way home informing me they wouldn't fill my script. They said I owed $215 for the glasses I refused to take years ago. I said I'm happy to pay it, as I need glasses and hoped they'd do a better job this time. Why did they call me to come in for an eye exam just to be treated like that? Insurance only pays for one exam a year. So, this place has sabotaged me again with no glasses. Two thumbs down for customer/patient relations. read more

I recently ordered and received new glasses from Larkspur Optometry and Shasta Eye and couldn't be happier. I had my eye exam at Shasta Eye and went right in to their optical area, and was attended to by Melanie, she was marvelous. She helped me pic out new glasses and sunglasses. What a fun friendly person she is. When my glasses came they were just what I wanted, I had them adjusted and off I went. After a few weeks I felt I needed them readjusted. This time I was helped my Courtney. She too is awesome. Both of these young ladies were friendly, professional and took great care of me. I would recommend them to anyone. 4 stars for the office staff, 5 GOLD stars for everyone not at the front desk. I hadn't been to the eye Dr. for nearly 4 years before being seen at the Larkspur location. Initially, I called the Churn Creek location where a woman at the front desk told me they no longer accept my insurance. I later found that information to be erroneous. When I started my journey at the Larkspur office, I got to see Dr Eklund who is incredibly nice. She is very welcoming & didn't make me feel bad for not being seen "on schedule" as other optometrists mentioned. I've seen a few & never connected for various reasons. I work on the road for the majority of the year & many were unable to work with my busy schedule. Inconvenient but understandable. I was really fortunate to have connected via referral with this location. At first we tried to lessen my prescription. That didn't work & resulted in my having to get new lenses. The new lenses came & after a short trial period, I knew my eyes weren't adjusting but my work schedule didn't allow me time to come in & make necessary adjustments. A few months went by & I walked in (as WAS the policy) to see what we could do. Good luck getting passed the gate keepers (aka front desk employees). My lucky day happened to be that day which was the 1st day the implemented a new rule that only appointments are accepted. No walk ins. It would be another month before I got scheduled in for an appointment which I had to take a day off work to have. There I met Jen & everything changed. Jen is REALLY nice. She is incredibly patient with my schedule & honest. She mentioned my inability to adjust to the new glasses may not be due to an incorrect presciption but may simply be the material used. I'd opted for upgraded lenses which were touted by the manufacturer for being more lightweight & thinner. I have a strong astigmatism in both eyes. The left is significantly worse resulting in a pretty thick lens. I took Jen's suggestion & we had new lenses made from a composite material. They actually came pretty quickly & the outcome was instantly day & night. I did have to pay out of pocket as my "trial period" had long passed due to my inability to come in in a timely manner but Jen took the time to explain that sometimes people's eye just don't adjust to the new material. Having worn glasses since I was 4, I know my eyes pretty well & agreed maybe a different material really was the problem. As soon as I tried on the new glasses, I knew all was right in the world. No more feeling sea sick. HOORAY! The glasses were adjusted & I was on my way in less than 10 minutes from scheduled appointment time to leaving. IF you are on the fence about an optomitrist, please give this office a try. Everyone really makes the effort to get you in a pair of glasses tht work for you. I was a little dissapointed to have had to pay a bit more than intended out of pocket, but I also knew that may happen as 1) I'd never seen this doctor & 2) as we later realized, the best-for-me material needed to be identified. I believe my next appointment will be flawless & 100% thanks to Jen, I'll be back for routine follow ups. Thank you SO much for taking time to truly help me. I have been seeing Dr. Ekelund for probably 10 years I highly recommend her. She is great at what she does, and very knowledgeable. I would say if you can stand the abuse by the front office staff then make an appointment and see if the Dr. is up to standards. Shasta Eye sent my wife and son to make their eye glasses to Larkspur optometry . This is our first time with this optometrist. They have highly unprofessional women especially the Manager Erika F running a dog and pony show. They asked my wife to leave her good glasses with a minor crack that she was wearing while they copied the shape of her old lenses to make her a pair of new ones. And they returned her lenses totally damaged with destroyed film that had patches. My wife asked them to repair the lenses and this lady Erika kept piling one lie upon another and finally hung up on my wife without resolving the issue. We will be lodging a complaint with the CA attorney generals office about this goon outfit. They don't even have a complaint form. Tells you how they want to serve our community and make their services better. Only morons go to such places for their services. read more

I'm really dissapointed in the way my husband was treated by the women in this office. Our first appointment was cancelled by the office because his insurance had lapsed. When we called back to reschedule, they told him they couldn't see him because he had missed too many appointments. When he tried to explain, the woman who makes the appointments cut him off and said they couldn't see him and hung up on him. I wasn't happy with the way they spoke to me when they called to cancel his appointment, and I'm certainly not happy about the way they treated him. read more
