They were perfectly baked with a wonderful crisp snap when you bit into them while still being soft and flavorful on the inside. Both pizzas were fresh, loaded with toppings, and full of flavor. So out of curiosity and concern I decided to call and ask about the status of our order, the young lady on the phone was confused at first, saying she had not received it but then I heard the ding and she was very apologetic and offered to make our order as quickly as possible, but once we got it figured out she was very kind and understanding. I offered to come in and get it as we were positive at this point no one from grubhub was going to deliver our order (which is not what we asked for but not the business' fault at all!) she offered to keep it in the hot box so we wouldn't have cold soggy pizza by the time I got it back home (thank goodness cuz three kids plus cold soggy pizza equals bad times) plus extra punches on the loyalty card they have as another way of apologizing. Overall the customer service was definitely a refreshing experience that I've missed and not had in a long time! So now let's focus on food, we ordered a large cheese and bacon pizza nothing fancy but it was simple executed to perfection, the bacon was just crispy enough and definitely was not the run of the mill stuff you get from everywhere else. The crust was the best crust I've had in a long time, not too thick not too thin but when you bit into it it had that delicious crispy crunch that you just can't get from most places anymore. We also ordered the garlic butter breadsticks, which they use the extra large portion cups instead of the dinky little things you get from the big places, plus she threw in extra cheese for no extra charge! Then an order of boneless buffalo wings which again she included a couple extra pieces, and again no extra charge! So even without the extras as an apology the portions were definitely more than enough and worth every bit! It's a smaller place and not much for indoor dining but it's quant and quiet if you just wanted a place to have a lunch or dinner to hang out and not be surrounded by people or anything like that. I even ran into my in laws when I was walking in and we got to talking about how much they love it there too. All in all I'm sold and hooked, this is a great little gem for a small town and I actually feel sorry for towns or cities that usually overlook smaller businesses like this because they don't know what they're missing! This isn't your run of the mill cookie cutter corporate franchise like dominos or Pizza Hut, this is a local business ran by real hard working folks trying to do there best every day and it shows. Oh and almost forgot with all that food and to feed a family of 5 for $50 in the current times and economy I'm certainly not going to complain! Locals told me that it was because the local pizza places, especially Mother Bear's, are so popular, that college students would go there instead of getting cheap, mid pizza. I have now been to Mother Bear's three or four times and really wish that there was a Little Caesar's Pizza in town. This most recent trip was during lunchtime and I ordered a cheese slice, a small house salad, and a drink. I fortunately got there early enough to get a clean table, though I saw probably fifteen to twenty people come in after me who were not so lucky. Following the sign at the door, instructing them to "Please Seat Yourselves," I heard several people ask out loud how they were supposed to do that if there were no clean tables. Some employees frantically cleaned a few tables and had them sit down. A few minutes after I ordered, the waitress brought the house salad. It looked fresh at first but the more I ate the more I realized that several of the romaine pieces were either clearly out of date or simply bad. In a moment when cyclospora is running rampant through the US, the lack of care in selecting the lettuce was worrying. Several moments later I began wondering if the cheese slice was going to be brought to my table soon. Instead, it was probably twenty minutes between getting the salad and the cheese slice and it was pretty obvious (see the photo) that the slice had been sitting under a heat lamp for around that same amount of time. The crust was dry, the cheese had become stale and too salty, and it was not a very enjoyable experience. Eating around the bad lettuce was, unfortunately, more enjoyable, and it was also better than the pizzas I've had here in the past, where the dough, toppings, and cheese aren't integrated in a way that blends their flavors together very well. The one thing I can say about this time is that the Dr. Pepper was fine, which is not something I can always say about restaurant sodas. I think for me this will probably be my last time going to Mother Bear's. It seems like one of those places that probably was good at some point in the past but now they rely on the fact that undergrads and locals will go to the restaurant no matter what. I'll probably just keep dreaming of eating Little Caesar's instead or, more likely, I'll just go get better pizza at Osteria Rago.

Slice was pepperoni and fresh mushrooms, NY style. Delicious. (Took a bite before I took the picture). Meatball sub was very good with good crunch on the bread, and nice melty cheese. Meatballs were really good, and sauce was very tasty. Lunch partner had the Philly cheese steak. Said it was piping hot and very tasty. Came with a cup of melted nacho cheese on the side.
