Seems like the kitchen is twice the size of the dining room

Not exactly on the way, but this served as our stopover lunch spot between Cataract Falls and McCormick's Creek State Park. No way we would have found this without Yelp. You order at the counter and they bring your food to the table. I'm guessing most people carry out because the restaurant is very small and even a bit run down. The food, however, is fabulous! We ordered the breadsticks with the jalapeno cheese. Somehow the breadsticks were both airy yet chewy, foretelling of the excellent pizza we were about to enjoy. We shared a medium Ultimate which was more than two of us could eat, so we happily took some home. Nice craft beer selection and pleasant service. Are food arrived relatively quickly considering that it was baked fresh for us. With a 20% tip our bill was nearly $40; some might consider this expensive for pizza and beer.

This is located a little bit of 67. You can't miss it when you drive into Paragon. It's on the right with a neat painted on logo on the building. The building has character and it's nice inside. The employees were friendly and they had a steady flow of people picking up orders or coming in and having a sit down meal. They have a spot on check in area if you earn points. I keep the tag on my keychain and scan it whenever I see a spot on area. The breadsticks were warm and fresh. They aren't dense they're light and delicious. You could see all the employees rolling dough and adding toppings. All hard at work! The lasagna was made with their house pasta sauce and have a lot of flavor. I liked how they had a stack of to go boxes and lids to take home with you. The servings are big and it's nice they thought of that. They also had gelato available and numerous beers. It's a great place to stop!

Great flavor in their pizza if you like cheese! Until 2 pm, you can order pizzas by the slice made to order. Although the staff said it would only take about 5 minutes, I realized that it would be more like 15 to 20. And when they say slice, it is more like a quarter pizza! Huge servings, loaded with cheese and a reasonable wait time is okay by me! I was getting my order to go, so I didn't partake of the Quaff On or Sun KIng craft beers available, but it's nice to know they have those. Each slice was so large that they were each placed in their own styrofoam box for transport. The pizza itself is the real soft bottomed (almost soggy) crust that is meant to be folded if you don't want any grease from the meat to drip on you. The one negative I noticed was that the toppings I requested were more densely packed near the outer crust than the center. They don't slice the mushrooms or pepperoni any smaller to fit down into the point of the pie slice, so the first bite or two are mostly the cheese and sauce flavors. But nearer the crust they have plenty of toppings. Still, it would be nice if they would take that one extra step to make the quality the same throughout the pizza. Review #1778

Delicious overly cheesy pizza with the best breadsticks and marinara! Currently offering pick up only due to COVID.

    Ultimate pizza. Super good!

The pizza is really good and flavorful. THEY HAVE BREWERY BEER HERE! Major plus for me! Staff isnt terrible, just not as friendly as everything else around. Only reason i gave it 4 stars. Good pizza though, no doubt about it.

I've changed my star rating to a 1, if I could give them a zero I totally would and here is why... We bought 2 pizzas a chicken bacon ranch medium and a 2 topping medium 1/2 pineapple pepperoni and the other sausage and pepperoni. An order of small breadsticks, two cheeses and a small salad for my Moms birthday. We went to pick it up (20mins away) took it back home (20 mins back) sat down to enjoy the pizza and ate my part and theres sausage instead of jumping to conclusion that they just didnt it wrong I called to ask if their red sauce had meat in it. It doesn't. So I told them it was wrong. Well if you bring it back we will make it again. So we cut our visit short with the birthday girl and left (another 20 mins there) waited 15 minutes for the new pizza. She comes out I'm like ok, wow.... we can go home to Greenwood (about an hour away) here's the pizza but they made it wrong again theres pineapple on the entire thing. I cant eat a whole pizza and he doesnt like pineapple. So then she said shed take it off. So I asked her if shed be refunding me the difference when I gave her my card. She came back and said no I'll need you. The first transaction hasnt gone through so I'm going to delete that one and do it correctly. So from 47.07 to 31.30. I said ok. I'd assume she knows her system more than I do. This was all on a Sunday. Monday I look at my account and I have almost $80 bucks tied up in this company! I called them lady took all my info said that the lady that handles this is not in but she will call me. No call Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday or Friday (I'm checking my account each day. $47.07 is still pending and tied up. Saturday morning it's gone, it's fixed! But I called the company back and asked to speak to owner so he knew what was going on with his company when he wasnt there. That's a joke too! Its know Tuesday. No phone call. So apparently he could care less as well. Please please please, if they mess up and they fix your transactions beware!!! They do not know there system like they think they do or else someone just messed up. She could have just refunded the difference but instead wanted to charge me again. Not cool. And for the owner to not call someone back... Not cool. And I'll make sure the places that have worked with him know this! They will not want to give them theirs or their patrons business, if they were treated like this... itd look bad on them as well.

    The best breadsticks around!

They have great fresh toppings for the pizza but the breadsticks are the winner here. They are so mouth watering and so light and airy.

When I visited, they offered 10 different beers on tap, and some of them were a lil' funky, like a beer with blood orange in it, and another with pineapple. Just fun and light beers that pair well with food. And because this is a Hard Truth joint, you can also find Hard Truth whiskey and cocktails. Pizza takes up half of the food menu, so you will most likely get the pizza. That's what I did! I got a 10-inch margherita pizza for myself, which ended up being more pizza than I could eat. It's 6 slices, and the crust is very thick, so it was a lot of bread. You can also get calzones and hoagies here, as well as things like salads, wings, nachos and breadsticks. Big Woods Pizza has outdoor seating on the patio, with some patio games to keep you occupied while you wait (giant Jenga!). Inside, there is a lot of seating, and while I was there, Family Feud was on the TV, as well as sports. I wasn't sure which one to ignore! (I ignored both.)

Locals told me that it was because the local pizza places, especially Mother Bear's, are so popular, that college students would go there instead of getting cheap, mid pizza. I have now been to Mother Bear's three or four times and really wish that there was a Little Caesar's Pizza in town. This most recent trip was during lunchtime and I ordered a cheese slice, a small house salad, and a drink. I fortunately got there early enough to get a clean table, though I saw probably fifteen to twenty people come in after me who were not so lucky. Following the sign at the door, instructing them to "Please Seat Yourselves," I heard several people ask out loud how they were supposed to do that if there were no clean tables. Some employees frantically cleaned a few tables and had them sit down. A few minutes after I ordered, the waitress brought the house salad. It looked fresh at first but the more I ate the more I realized that several of the romaine pieces were either clearly out of date or simply bad. In a moment when cyclospora is running rampant through the US, the lack of care in selecting the lettuce was worrying. Several moments later I began wondering if the cheese slice was going to be brought to my table soon. Instead, it was probably twenty minutes between getting the salad and the cheese slice and it was pretty obvious (see the photo) that the slice had been sitting under a heat lamp for around that same amount of time. The crust was dry, the cheese had become stale and too salty, and it was not a very enjoyable experience. Eating around the bad lettuce was, unfortunately, more enjoyable, and it was also better than the pizzas I've had here in the past, where the dough, toppings, and cheese aren't integrated in a way that blends their flavors together very well. The one thing I can say about this time is that the Dr. Pepper was fine, which is not something I can always say about restaurant sodas. I think for me this will probably be my last time going to Mother Bear's. It seems like one of those places that probably was good at some point in the past but now they rely on the fact that undergrads and locals will go to the restaurant no matter what. I'll probably just keep dreaming of eating Little Caesar's instead or, more likely, I'll just go get better pizza at Osteria Rago.
