3 weeks under new ownership and we think they are on the right track -we drive over from Shelbyville a few times a yr and stopped in today for dinner. Lisa was still there from previous ownership, she does a great job and is attentive and friendly. The new owner came out and spent about 5 min with us discussing other Gatti locations and his vision for improvements here in Martinsville. On our way out the owners wife spoke out from the kitchen. thanking us for coming in. Food was good as always and per request of my wife they put in a fresh BBQ Chicken Pizza. Salad bar was fresh and well stocked. We will for sure make the effort to visit again before the summer is over ! While in Martinsville if you're craving pizza, salad, spaghetti, cheesy garlic bread go here. They have a great fresh salad bar and spaghetti, mac and cheese, garlic bread, and all different types of pizzas as well as dessert pizzas. They had an apple dessert pizza and cinnamon stick pizza with icing and then they brought out a Bavarian desert pizza. Oh my! It was so good! It was warm and it had a delicious crumble topping on it. They didn't just have pepperoni, sausage, and cheese either. They had bbq chicken pizza - great - and one I hadn't tried yet which was the chicken bacon ranch pizza they offered. The staff were very friendly and helpful and we've always had good experiences here. While leaving we saw 2 University of Illinois Fighting Illini buses on their way to Bloomington for the football game. I'm sure those players could wipeout the pizzas at Mr. Gatti's in a heartbeat. :-) read more

This update review is for carry out service only. The self serve salad bar is back! Their potato salad is not back yet as they are rolling out the salad bar is phases but at least you can build your own to-go salad instead of receiving a prepackaged salad. Even though ground beef is not listed under their available toppings they do have it because they offer a Cheeseburger Specialty pizza. I ordered ground beef, Canadian bacon, bell peppers and onions. This is the same as I ordered a couple of nights ago from Papa John's. I want you to compare my half and half photo of Gatti's pizza (on the right side) with Papa John's on the left. Pizza Hut usually looks the same as Papa John's. Note the sparse toppings. In my opinion, this is what they do to offer cheap prices. Even if you ask for double of an ingredient, you still don't get that much more. In other words, even if you are willing to pay more they are not willing to give you more. The national chain pizza restaurants have deteriorated drastically into some kind of self-inflicted pizza wars. I'm going to stick with local pizza places and avoid national chains altogether. read more

We went there today Aug 21 2023 . And I've been going there every since they opened.. so 40 years I've been going there.. today the spaghetti sauce was watered down .. just watery like water and tomato juice.. first time in 40 years it was like that . We was even there last Thur and it wasn't like that . I hope they was just running low and had to water it down to stretch it today.. I hope that isn't going to watered down from now on. We're going to give them the benefit of the doubt ..and hope it was just a today thing for some reason. We will go back again in a couple weeks. It was so watered down and thin you could tell just by looking at the pan... if we go back again and can tell by looking. We won't even order just leave . Sad after 40 years it was always good sauce.. but not today watered down today.. watered down a lot .. I hope this was the exception not the rule now read more

Been going to Gatti's for years. Usually when grandchildren were in town visiting. Gatti's caters to children and young families. Dingy with large TVs blaring and coin operated games sitting unused the place when I visited recently was very unappealing. It appeared that this space has not been remodeled in years. The buffet line had not been restocked when I visited. The soup was covered with a heavy scum and the pasta was sticky and old looking. There was one fresh pizza the other offering were dry and picked over. The salad bar looked decent and the cottage cheese was white and creamy. In generally the pizza was very ordinary. If you have grandchildren visiting this maybe the place to visit. Otherwise you will be disappointed. read more

We've only ever gotten carry out here so I can't comment on the dining experience, but this is one of my favorite pizza places hands down. While it is a chain, it's not a common one -- and I grew up with one in my hometown and this is the only one within reasonable driving distance. Classic pizza, however you want it. Online ordering is super easy and quick, and we've not really had a problem with picking it up. (Just remember you have to sign!) Highlights for us: simple sausage and/or pepperoni with extra cheese, the cheese sticks are *the* best, and cinnamon sticks with streusel crumbs with icing drizzled on top. I'm a fan of the dessert pizzas (Dutch Apple, Cherry, or S'mores) but they are quite indulgent and you may not want more than one piece. (My wife is not a fan!) Definitely check this place out, it doesn't disappoint! read more

It was a bad experience for us we came in at 6pm. It's not that busy yet but there ain't not much pizza on the table, pasta is empty. We started eating the salad; waited for cheese pizza & pasta. Right after they served the cheese pizza it's gone in seconds. The pasta is in a small warmer enough for 4 people...is gone too. The only good thing here the salad bar the bass lady she was pretty good If you're planning to dine here, make sure to check the table before paying. I have frequented Mr. Gattis in Martinsville, IN for over 30 years. Many great memories. I went last night and for the first time they wouldn't make a "specialty" pizza for me. The lead cook said "We have everything you would want already out there" Which, they really didn't. I know it's a buffet and they have their food cost limits, but man, come on management...The place feels like it as fallen from grace. We love Gattis Pizza in Martinsville. The staff is very nice, they will make any pizza you like! They are quick, efficient, and helpful. We have noticed one employee who is above and beyond, she makes sure the customers are well taken care of. Her salad bar is always fresh and clean and refilled constantly. Her tables are cleared very quickly and she comes buy very often to refill drinks. Her name is Crystal and she is very hard working! They are lucky to have her! I had never heard of this place and was just driving home to West Lafayette from French Lick and it happened to be there when it was time to eat. I thought it was a local joint. It certainly felt local and one-of-a-kind. I just googled and there appears to be about 65 of them. I am impressed that a chain restaurant had such a homey, old-time feel. First, the staff was pleasant and friendly from start to finish. They offered to make a pizza on-demand to put on the buffet. Very nice. I was there with a 5/3/1 year old and my wife. This place is PERFECT for kids. They have plain spaghetti at the pizza bar and macaroni and cheese, and cheesy bread and meat sauce for the spaghetti. The pizzas are replaced relatively quickly. The pizza style was sort of thin pan pizza if that makes sense. I really liked it, but my wife was a little more ambivalent about the pizza. All side dishes were excellent. Cheesy bread was outstanding...which is why it kept disappearing from the buffet instantly. The salad bar was basically perfect. They included normal vegetables, but also pizza topping like pepperonis. Nice touch. Also they had sunflower seeds and goldfish which are also very nice touches when you have kids. Kids also liked the broccoli chunks. It only cost something like $8 for an adult buffet with a soft drink. Kids over 2 were maybe $4. Great prices. The restaurant feels old-timey to a degree and it's very cool. There was a Ms. Pac-Man, a couple other video games, a couple crane machines...my kids loved it, I loved it and I would be happy to stop in again if I ever travel that route again. read more

I like Gatti's. It's a good place to eat, the buffet is always stocked and they'll even make you something at request. I love the cheese sticks and the BBQ chicken pizza. I also love the Boston creme dessert pizza. Like I said, it's good. I ordered a pick up for a Large 3 topping plus bread sticks. I wasn't very pleased to say the pizza was a little gross it was more like a frozen pizza you would buy from a grocery. My favorite pizza of all time! I live in Los Angeles and fly back just to get two extra large cheese pizzas. I have been going here for years and you still see the same faces. I think their slogan now is "Gettin' Together over Gatti's" or something like that. It used to be something like "The Best Pizza in Town...Honest," and boy was that true for me. Actually, I do think you can still see that slogan in places so I guess it hasn't been completely replaced. While their pizza is incredible, I think the best thing they make is the cheese bread. The pizza sauce you can dip it in is amazing as well. I also like their regular breadsticks with their cheese dip. One item on their menu that I don't think came around until a few years ago is the pepperoni roll. It is very similar to the stuffed pizza roller from Pizza Hut, but it tastes so much better than PH in my opinion. We used to go to the Gatti's in Louisville on a regular basis for good buffet pizza. We found this one in Martinsville and thought we would give it a go. Food was what was expected for Gatti's pizza, but their selection was limited on the buffet. the salad bar was very good with a large varieties of toppings. If your looking for average or below average food a fairly cheap price then go for it. This is a buffet style pizza place that never had pizza out. When my wife and I lived in Martinsville, we ate here quite a bit. One of the best pizza buffets I have ever had! Not only is the pizza delicious (especially the deep dish), but the sauce for the spaghetti is out of this world. It has a nice kick to it. Also on the buffet is dessert pizza and cinnamon rolls!!
