I was there this evening waiting in line and a customer was at the register without a mask, coughing into the plexiglass between the employee and the customer. After the customer left, the employee told me I was next and I refused to step into the area where the previous customer was coughing. I told him i didn't want to step where the customer was coughing. It seemed that it didn't occur to him and he quickly realized and apologized and said he'd clean the glass. I told him i would pay by the other side of the counter. I also expressed to the employee that I was concerned that they were not enforcing their mask policy. He said he agreed and that it's his regulars who walk in without a mask and he knows they're being careful. I expressed concern about that. No one knows where his customers have been. He said he needs to put up a more obvious sign in addition to what is already there. I said no, customers need to be stopped and told that they cannot enter without a mask. I said that I've been there a few times in the past few weeks and noticed customers walking in and out without masks. I said that I really want to support this small business but I don't feel comfortable going there anymore.

It was 12:40. She went in to grab some detergent on sale, and as soon as we got to the register, the cashier--Mahendra, an older Indian man--called his manager over, claiming he needed approval for the purchase. He then said, "you people come in and buy all the detergent on sale to resell it." My sister immediately confronted him, asking, "Who is 'you people'?" He then claimed she wasn't buying the detergent for her home. How does he think he knows what someone's purchasing it for? She had 4 Tide, 4 Gain, and 4 fabric softeners because they were 4/$10--perfectly within the sale limits. When the manager arrived, even she seemed taken aback by his comments. She ended up ringing us up herself because she clearly didn't agree with what he said. If this hadn't been the third Walgreens we'd visited (since the others were sold out), we would've left everything right there. It's outrageous for our money to go to a store where we're treated like this. As soon as we left, my sister called corporate to file a complaint against Mahendra. This kind of racial profiling and disrespect cannot be tolerated.

Beautiful day went in for an ice cream with my service dog. Met with surly "you can't bring in your…read morepet." I explained he was a service animal, told we don't allow them in the store. Individual stated he wasn't marked as service dog, explained not required. My attempt to educate fell on deaf ears and was told he couldn't come in again. He's accompanied me in several times into the pantry without any problem. I left with one last statement; you cannot turn him away without opening yourself up to a federal lawsuit.
